According to protofits, one complex and one basic profile dampener would give you a profile of 21db (profiles are rounded to 1db in game). This is equal to a Gal logi non-focussed scan meaning you will be scanned.
Therefore to avoid non-focussed scans you need two complex damps.
Focussed scanners may be rare in pub matches, but they are reasonably common in PC and are very effective due to the team-share they get in PC. The fact that scanners are rotated and that focussed scanners scan everyone, not just scouts, limits their drawbacks.
I've played PCs before where my scout's been focus-scanned whenever I've approached an objective. In a PC against competent opponents, a scout will be killed within seconds of being scanned. Using a scout dampened enough to hide from focussed scanners isn't worth it. You'd be better off with an assault. |

Perhaps having a focussed scanner as a counter to scouts wouldn't be a bad thing if there was a counter to the scanner.
For example, if the focussed scanner had shorter range it wouldn't be nearly effective at spotting links or combatting assaults, meaning there's more of a trade-off. Scouts operate by getting in close so short range scanning would still be effective against them.
Counter-play could be good in principle. Though there aren't any infantry counters to any other type of infantry. So I don't see why there'd need to be a scout counter. It probably just needlessly complicates things. Maybe the new fps would better leaving it out.
I really hope the new game incorporates scanning and stealth mechanics. It's something I've enjoyed about the game since beta and adds a very compelling alternative way of playing. |

Sorry, you are right, I got that mixed up. But 1 comp + 1 basic should be 21db which is too high. |

XxBlazikenxX wrote:Min Scout speed hackers don't get enough credit in PC... Tbh, I always found the Gal scout to be a better speed hacker. The Min scout is highly likely to get scanner and intercepted, whereas the Gal scout with three codebreakers still hacks pretty fast, has a much higher chance of reaching the panel, and is more useful for other things. |
