TheD1CK wrote:Have CCP made the right move choosing PC over Console? They made the decision that made the most sense for them. PC is faster/easier to develop for and reaches a much larger audience; agile development cycles allows a small team to do more with less, while a larger audience offers more revenue. Higher profits for the game = more staff working on the DUST (PC) in the future. Plus, and this should not be underestimated, CCP's home turf is on PC. It's the platform they know best so they will perform better there.
It may not have made sense for you personally, but CCP did what was right for the game in the long run.
TheD1CK wrote:you will need to have some work done if Dusters are to consider PC gaming. It is no longer prohibitively expensive to own both a console and a gaming PC so don't pretend that all these DUST players are devote console purists. You would be surprised just how many already own a gaming PC. You would be even more surprised to know how many are considering purchasing one in the near future.
This divide between PC and console gaming is silly. You can do both. Only twats think you must choose a side.

TheD1CK wrote:What I learned is that they will go against the core of their own game to add fancy additions, waste resources, ignore feedback from a majority while taking on the opinions of few and still come back expecting positive interaction with "community" The majority doesn't necessarily know what is right. For example, if the entire forum community was calling for an HMG nerf, but CCP can see based on their data that the HMG does not need a nerf.
Should the HMG get a nerf just because the majority is demanding it? No. That is game design by democrazy and it is ******* stupid
TheD1CK wrote:At least by ranting I show I care, I gave up trying to speak to CCP years ago #PortDust514 engaged in non-shitposting, respectful dialogue and it apparently helped CCP Rattati make a case for talking to us about DUST's future. He told us himself that is was very helpful and he appreciated the efforts of Pokey, Cat, and the rest.
So quit shitposting and being a cuntscab; use that "caring" to do something positive

TheD1CK wrote:It has not been a one time occurrence that they have followed the wrong feedback, and as for the feedback of the majority I can't see how thats a bad thing, for one in stats and further by seeing trends is suit/weapon/equipment etc... Sure it will not always indicate a need for change, but how many blatantly obvious issues have been ignored The playerbase can be leveraged to find out trends and feelings on how something is balanced. That's generally where CPM comes in; they gather the feedback then show it to CCP. CCP also does this on their own time (apparently Rattati has a major problem with looking through Features and Ideas into the early morning hours).
But the data trumps anything the forums say. That's just something we have to accept.
As for "the wrong feedback", Rattati is a numbers guy. He seems to be strongly biased towards what his metrics tell him and not what the loudest players scream at him. If you can provide him empirical evidence of an unbalanced feature I'm sure he'll look into it.
That being said, the man really has his hands bound on the PS3. DUST 514 was built on shoddy code and poor project management and so Rattati pays the price now. Ask the CPM how frustrated Rattati has been with not being able fix X or Y because of DUST's ****** code. I am sincerely hoping this fresh start on PC gives CCP Shanghai the chance to do right by DUST.
TheD1CK wrote:As for recent feedback, bar the odd biomassed I have tuned into, I and many other Dust players have no idea what CCP are/were thinking Well, the unfortunate truth is that recently CCP hasn't been focusing on DUST. I mean in the last, 4 - 6 months. And why should they? Ask yourself: if you were trying your absolutely hardest to build a new game on PC to be the spiritual successor to a game on a nearly decade old console... would you dedicate many hours to the upkeep of that old console game?
I don't know many people who would. It's not logical. The old game is being retired (see: shutdown). Any hours spent on it are effectively a waste of your team's time they could be spending making the new game.
TheD1CK wrote:So whatever your white knight defense of Cat%Co. is... get off my nuts plz xxx You are always so eager to jump on TheD, Riley? I like you If you were just some forum nobody spouting bullshit I wouldn't even bother with these long replies. You aren't though. You have people who look to you for leadership.
I would rather go round and round with you, correcting inaccuracies I see in your thought process, and helping you reach informed decisions because you might share this with your corpmates or in-game friends. You and people like you are "community leaders"; we have to be willing to candidly discuss issues with community leaders. Sometimes that means supporting their cause, sometimes that means calling them on their bullshit.
