Why people ever thought that it was a good idea to invest any money into this game. This game NEVER looked like it was worth investing into. Even with the updates they kept releasing it just never seemed like it was enough progress to me.
Finally we're getting this shite off of the ps3

There wasn't any $$ required to have fun in this game, I never spent any money in this game I had plenty of fun. Until a certain point where I realized this game was going anywhere and got tired of this lobby shooter.

Again $$$ was never required to have fun in this game, spending real currency so you don't have to spend any isk on restocking on certain things is just another way of avoiding losing any isk in the end.

It's the same reason why people who play other free to play games spend money on the game: they enjoy the game and wanted to support the devs.
Want to know of other ftp games with some "lackluster" updates which people still pour hundreds of dollars into? Warframe, Planetside 2, Maplestory, Runescape, Clash of Clans... (notice I said "Some" implying there were good and bad updates for those games).
If people enjoy a game, why shouldn't they support the dev for cool sh.t?

going around around and around in match after match in a murder taxi doesn't seem fun after awhile, and not risking any isk just seems boring. Back in the day when the Plasma Cannon was first released and was almost shite I gave it a try and was able to do alright in a match. Lost some isk but it didn't matter to me, regained enough from the isk at the end of the battle to cover what I lost. It's really not that hard to learn how to use the Plasma Cannon Properly.

I understand that but this game never looked anywhere near it should've been when it was officially released and by some it was easily seen that this game wasn't gonna get anywhere on the ps3. I never saw giving CCP money as supporting the devs, that money could've gone anywhere once CCP got a hold of it. Especially since CCP has multiple products.

I think it was foolish, especially on a game that didn't look like it wasn't going anywhere on the ps3 at least with little to no actual progress towards what the game was suppose to be.

Well, they still think they IP is profitable enough to make another game of, so I guess all our love and support worked on that front I guess.
Which is good to me, because I will totally be playing that new game on PC.

Okay let's take a step back and look at this. First of all, Sony has this policy where a game can only remain in open beta for X amount of time on the PlayStation (this was true for 2013, the policy may have changed). The "release" of Dust was never truely a release in the traditional sense as it was still a beta. I, and a few more members of the community (if not the majority) have always believed it was still in beta.
A game development studio that spends the money it received for one game on another is not only common, but common as f.ck. However, some game devlopers do not need a small pitance from one game to devlop another. Does Activision-Blizzard need the money from Diablo 3 to fund WoW, Hearthstone, or Starcraft? During intial stages of development, probally, but now? No.
In the same way EVE Online, the only other game CCP had going at the time, did not need the small amounts of money Dust was generating due to increased amounts of new subs and PLEX purchases on top of previous subs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the funding for Valkyrie and Gun Jack was coming from EVE. Legion-Not-Legion is a different beast all together as

Not so sure about the profitable side since I've no idea how much money CCP actually made off of people that bought in game things but the one main reason to always continue the development is the potential of an MMO-FPS connected to a Sandbox MMO like EVE.

Yes I understand this game was basically a beta even after it's official release and has basically been a beta test for whatever comes next.
Good point there they don't need the tiny bits of $ coming from Dust for any of their other games. Still though like I've said never seemed to be enough progress towards what the idea of the game was suppose to be for me throw my $ at CCP.

So you actually have no idea what you're talking about and didn't even bother to read the one news story in which the CEO said point blank that the title is profitable? And you have no concept that they're clearly making $$ on their other titles and continuing to pour time money and resources into all of it? Which means you're basically talking completely out your arse? Cool story, bruh... |

No I said I've no idea how much they've been actually making off of dust. Obviously CCP makes money off of EVE online, not sure where you thought I said I've no idea if CCP is actually making any money off of their other products.

You keep mentioning "progress". However you have overlooked a lot of stuff. For one, Dust has made progress since the Rouge Wedding (yes I am resurrecting that ol' demon) with what we assume is a "skeleton crew". Couple their small dev team with the fact that they were using outdated tech AND had it so close to maxing out the potential for the PS3 that they could barely do more without either breaking the game or bricking consoles, similar to how The Last of Us f.cked over a lot of older model PS3s on realease.
They had progressed furthur than most had expected on the PS3.
INB4 MAG did it better. That is a different argument for a different time.

Right so a few things I mean by "Progress"
-Being able to move around the station you're in, instead of being stuck in the damn quarters all the time unless you are in a match
-Interactions with EVE players not just being Orbital strikes and chat channels
-Being able to travel throughout New Eden, moving to different stations at a cost of isk or travel to a planets surface
-Boarding Titans (not sure who here wouldn't want to be able to do this)
-Weapon customizations (might be a problem with balancing)
-PVE
Just a few off the top of my head
After fanfest 2014 I wasn't expecting anything else to really be done with this game so ya they did progress further than most expected on the ps3.

Paying for stuff in a f2p game is sort of an investment if your are interested in what's next for the game and want to see more.
But ya in your case you just wanted to a respec and some cool **** lol nothing beyond that I guess which isn't a problem I suppose.

The instant gratification part is understandable for a f2p game as long as your actually making your moneys worth.

Just a few off the top of my head
After fanfest 2014 I wasn't expecting anything else to really be done with this game so ya they did progress further than most expected on the ps3.
1) So you want use to move around and stuff even though they have yet to do that in EVE? Also you want to add unnecessary fluff ontop of a game that was already pushing the limits of the PS3?
2) This was not CCP Shanghais fault but more of a players fault as some EVE players fervently protested having any connection with Dust. More so after FF14.
3) Actually, if you asked a GM nicely back before FF14, they would have moved your station for you. IIRC all of PIE Alliance are in one station.
4) This was something that, again, would have been protested greatly as the idea of boarding titans was to destroy it from the inside. You clearly have no knowledge of how much of a huge investment a titan is. First, it takes a f.ckig long time to train to fly it properly (not talking weeks or months, but years), and getting a hold of a titan is f.cking just as daunting. Some people go as far as purchasing accounts that can fly and have a titan with real life cash. So to go through all that trouble just to have a group of people you have no defense against destroy your investment would **** people off greatly. Sure you can have your own mercs on board, but you are still risking a huge time and money investment.
5) Weapon Customization? Really? Just not going to mention FULL RACIAL PARITY. Which they had a work around for that in place. I am sorry you can't have your 6x scope on your assault rifle, but don't worry we have a gallente plasma thrower... oh wait. It was in talks, mainly full racial parity, which is a higher priority in most peoples opinion. And as I said, Rattati had a work around by reskinning and adding different attributes to the reskinned models. F.ck weapon customization, you can have that after I get my Plasma Thrower or Laser Lance.
6) Only thing I agree with you, there needed to be PvE. However, again, the PS3 was already at it's limits.
Edit: To add more to point 5, keep in mind we had a decent amount of weapons and variants for said weapons. More than what most modern FPSs can say these day.

So in review, the OP doesn't understand why other people spent money on a game the OP doesn't like.

I am sorry you can't have your 6x scope on your assault rifle, but don't worry we have a gallente plasma thrower... oh wait. 4) I think boarding and fighting on an NPC Titan would be fine. Completely agree that if it centered on an actual player Titan, it would be borked as hell and create pandemonium. But let's say you're running Minmatar FW and besides a Skirmish, Dom, etc. mode; there's also a couple of maps that are boarding an Amarr Super or Titan to take it over before it DD's a Minnie Carrier. Or something like that. There's interesting gameplay potential here that doesn't put a 100bil ISK player asset on the line.
Other than that, spot on.

To be blunt, I spent a large amount of money during the time CCP seemed like they could turn around.
I'm not spending another cent until I see something back from them, be it on the PS3 or PC. That something of course being a good, fun game, with even half of the potential that could be fulfilled from the concept.

True, forgot NPC titans were a thing, mind you Titans in general are rare (though the short Second Great War would beg to differ) so I guess that never occured to me. Thanks for pointing that out.
