Why waste money on a PC IMO. All PC titles eventuale move; Diablo, Warframe, World of Tanks, War Thunder, Portal.
Why? More money to be made, and a better community IMO. A big problem would be the PSN. On PC, there's no need for a PSN account, just your New Eden account. On PS4, you would also need a PSN account which may well require a separate New Eden account. The two will likely not be interchangeable. |

If you look at War Thunder on PS4 it still has the mouse show up from time to time because they literally just copied the PC version over and tweaked the control scheme.
Does this mean CCP:FPS2 will come to PS4? Not in the slightest. CCP has proven time and time again that their ability to make even the simplest decisions is minimal.
Honestly, I will be surprised if we even see a new FPS hit the market. WoD was in development for 10 years and fell apart because of CCP shifting people back and forth from it to Eve. Now they seem very heavily focused on VR and we have already seen them shift resources around giving VR projects priority over other projects. This is just poor management and nothing at CCP has changed. Their obsession with VR will be their undoing. VR is a gimmick that won't last, because the consumer community can't afford it. |

It is objectively impossible to have balanced gameplay between PC and PS4. No matter how good a player using a controller may claim to be, they will be at a massive disadvantage up against raw mouse input, which is an essential feature of all PC FPS games.
The only way to create a balance would be to impose input limits on mice and to use heavy aim assist for controllers, which would drive everyone away from the game. I think the game will come with input restrictions anyways simply because heavies turning around in 1/30 of a second should basically never be a thing. Also a lot of PS4 games you can just plug a mouse and keyboard into anyways. Here's where so much of Dust is just wrong and counter to CCP's own established rules. Heavies turning in 1/30 of a second should never be. Heavies jumping should never be. In EvE, the heavier the ship, the longer it takes to turn, the slower it accelerates and the slower it flies, in short, the longer it takes to do everything. By creating a game where all this ridiculous stuff with heavies happens, CCP violates some of its own very basic tenets.
Let's hope when the new game arrives, these things will be fixed. It's a possibility that as they knew the game was ending, they just threw a few things like that into it just to see what it would do, without any real intent to continue with it in the next version. I would like to think that's the case, anyway. |

But if and I say if it would go to Sony again it would not be linked to eve in any way. I think the whole Eve link thing really was sort of a cause for Dust 514's death. In a way you are correct. CCP always worrying about "future mechanics" and what effect they would have on Eve if a connection were made was essentially what stagnated development all the way up until FF 14. If you go back to the video of the round table with Rattati at FF you can see him reference this. This was also referenced by many other devs in many other places and times. It is a bit crazy because AUR destroyed the ability to have an Eve link while the thought of an Eve link significantly messed up progress on the game. The idea of a Dust WITHOUT a link to EvE is just ridiculous. Everything CCP does exists in the EvE universe, it's a basic tenet of CCP games. Everything runs on the Tranquility server for a start, so NOT having an EvE link is kind of impossible. The true problem with Dust is PSN and the PS3. |

No one knows if the "new game" will be on TQ. (My guess is no but CCP does not learn too fast)
Valkyrie is expressly separated from Eve.
Oh and PSN was never an issue. It just acted as a login that passed through a user id and an authorization token no different than logging in on a webpage or even in the Eve launcher.
The PS3 is debatable but I will say that many other companies including smaller companies than CCP were able to fit FAR more content and functionality on to the PS3 than CCP did.
So much this The Eve link between both games is really minimal already. We share the "world" and are allowed to get a few orbitals bit that is it. As for the Ps3 part, DUST appears and acts like the early PS3 games. This is literally their first game on console so it was expected to run poorly. If they had experienced members using this type of architecture we would be focusing on the real problem which was management. The reason the link between Dust and EvE is minimal is by accident not by design. It was INTENDED from the outset to be highly linked, even integrated, with the concept of Walking In Stations which was a dismal failure.
Yes, the new game is very likely to be running on TQ, and I do believe that there is still a link with Valkyrie, or at least that's the way it has been presented in the past - something like being able to actually fly the fighters that are launched from carriers.
The links are there, at least in the design of these games. Whether they actually work is up to CCP. |
