man i want brother of havok and silverstrike to upload videos again, rated arr doesn't upload, jake redblood doesn't upload, so many guys gave up I guess that means they quit DUST too?
forget all the "I'm quitting" threads, how many people silently left, if Youtube is anything to go by this game is losing players and losing passion.
for the love of the game these disconnections need to be fixed, other than a few balance issues and a few glitches, what do you guys reckon? I don't even think this game is half-bad, it's not broken, it works (not lately), what do we really need to do?
What does DUST need right now? Let's not talk about wants, but needs. When will DUST be in an advertisable state? A lot of people say they won't recommend DUST to their friends, I understand the SP gap is huge, is it too little, too late? Are we so far along that it's pointless for new players, it's just the hardcore left?
DUST has to grow, it can't rely on a few people forever, it's been out for less than 2 years, and for a modern game, it's doing quite well, most AAA games get ignored few months after release, I'll wager a lot of AAA games released from 2014-2016 have less players than DUST does.
DUST should be an esport, it should have prizes and tournaments, PC should mean more. Will we get this in a few years time? Is DUST meant to take years and years to properly develop I mean what is CCP's plan? I don't if the PS3 getting old and perhaps unsupported sooner than we think is having an impact on DUST's progression.
I don't want this game to just survive, I want it to GROW, it needs GROWTH.
and yeh maybe I would like to have more subscribers, I feel like I've almost tapped out the DUST community but don't want to move onto another game just because it's popular.

and I am sorry for sending ragemail to people but please, interact with us more, don't hide in your redline, don't really on OHK weapons and relentlessly spam explosives, let's make history together, play with me, I don't want anyone to quit, it hurts when people quit this game.
More effort needs to be done to balance the teams too, it's clear that 1 side most of the time is not having any fun.
DUST is one of those games which I will play exclusively until the servers shut down, just like MAG, the whole world goes on around you but you don't care about new titles, you stick with what you love. This game is addictive and I wish we could get more people hooked, the playerbase should be 10x bigger.
Think about what DUST has to offer, more items and information and customisation than any game that I know, it's so unique I couldn't begin to explain it, it would take me hours upon hours to explain everything in DUST it's crazy how much work has been poured into it.
I want to see more models, more animations, more SKINS, more variants, I don't want 5 assault rifles that look the same, with scopes but you can't use the scopes of customise.
CCP come on, the PS3 is hindering your dream, it needs to be relaunched but for the love of Balac DO NOT let us keep our skill points, instead give us "legacy" items to show our allegiance, or give us free AUR on the launch of the new DUST 514.
DUST has to be reborn, there is no point in putting in work on a game which is losing steam,

I know man I want variety, even having new vehicles (we need all racial vehicles) would make games different because they would LOOK different.
We need new maps, we need new game modes, we need PC exclusive maps. We need PC exclusive rewards. We need missions, bounties, raiding, more roles, more role and race specific weapons.

lol Dust has had a steady decline, it's doing well for a f2p game, in a market saturated by freemium clash of clans rip offs, so there isn't much competition. Not to mention ps3 psn store is basically a ghost town.
AAA titles don't get ignored, as much as the development teams get reassigned to new projects. There is still a dev team working on balance issues and releasing DLC content on a regular basis.
Dust is stuck on a current cycle (if you're lucky) of a HOTFIX once per 6 months. Not even new content. Would you call that 'doing quite well', or would you call that 'doing the best they can'?
CrotchGrab 360 wrote:I'll wager a lot of AAA games released from 2014-2016 have less players than DUST does.
WTF, Black ops 2 still has at least over 100k players worldwide over 3 different platforms from what I last read. Battlefield 4 (haven't read about lately, but I know people still play it), would still be netting over 100k players worldwide over 5 different platforms.
Dust avgs from when I last read eve offline, around 2k players daily on 1 platform. That may be decent for a f2p game, but you made the statement that AAA titles from 2014 to 2016 would have less players than dust, which is purely and utterly untrue in every way.
dust is life...

I recently subscribed to your youtube channel and I say keep em coming.
One game that Dust Reminds me of, in a way, is Starcraft.
Starcraft became the last standing competitive RTs due to it's community of players, casters (commentators) and streamers.
The castors were a driving force behind this, because of their talent in noticing everything that mattered when commentating on a live or recorded match.
If more players were able to share their content, more points of view during the match would be seen.
When commentators see the tactics used, it makes for an exciting cast.
Creating real, living essence among the community. To where players even hype up each other and push for innovation within the games tactics.
CCP tried this already https://youtu.be/P-2S5cFc8is
But it needs that Huskystarcraft caster type of enthusiasm which I KNOW alot of you still have.
That stealth min scout hack that becomes crucial to the outcome of a game.
That hero logi reviving a squad and re-establishing a stronghold in the city.
That nova knife killstreak with the most uber squishy suit.
That Officer weapon making enemies scurry away in fear.
Epic moments are what need to be brought to the spotlight.
Planetary Conquest should provide infinite variables of this.
What mistake is being made is that people post PC footage, but only from one persons perspective. If it were possible to see every players perspective it would mean constant epic moments.
Or at least a better viewing experience.
Throw on a commentator from a different persons perspective. Someone neutral on that war in particular.
Boom! We create our own gotdamn Esport.
And that would be awesome |

It all comes down to money. What we need is a large infusion of new players in a short timeframe. The way it is now the few new people come in, get the crud stomped out of them by us vets and leave thinking its a trash game. If there were a large influx of new players they wouldnt see us vets as often and be (hopefully) other noobs relative to thier sp level. It would be a far more enjoyable experience for those newbies and then that notorious Dust addiction would kick in making them long term players. Unfortunately, the only way to get that mass flocking of players would be to mass advertise. Which as I said in the beginning would cost loads of money that CCP is unwilling to spend for this game. Even though with just the stuff available now AUR wise they would make a killing off those new players and see a nice return on investment fairly quickly I would imagine.
If you don't receive the answer you want please be patient, my "F**k's Given" dispenser is broke.

thanks for your thoughts guys, and I'm not trying to compare this to call of duty why do people always go down that route, a lot of modern games get ignored, no matter the hype, after a short amount of time they become irrelevant yet here we are, 720p, 30fps, mediocre graphics on the last gen system, still going strong.
I know the playerbase is waning and that's one thing which I addressed, I guess I can't give any specific details as to which games I think aren't being played much, perhaps not online-focused games but games with online play added on which are newer than dust I would wager have less players than we do, just trying to be optimistic.
yup, advertising and money plus the newbs not getting stomped, I think DUST is flawed by design, you shouldn't allow people to have such a huge advantage over you.
If in the beginning they separated players and allowed people to work their way up through the brackets instead of getting thrown in the deep end then we would see more players right now for sure.
thanks to who said they subscribed to me I really appreciate it, I've been getting lots of kind words lately I always get emails on DUST on all my accounts from all over the world. Somebody mailed me to say that I'm their hero, which I think is a bit too far but it warmed my cold, dead bitter-vet heart.

Check the server statistics, we haven't moved in player count since about a year before I left.
DUST isn't feasible to move elsewhere, not in its current state and to make it serviceable would require more Dev effort than management are prepared to provide for anything but the flagship product.
What DUST is missing is the impact, the reason to play. We could get by with only a little more than what we have now. But the problem is that it's just a lobby shooter.

Of all the toobers that have come and gone, I miss Moody the most. He had a great balance going on. He'd do a music video of a sweet battle. Weapon reviews. Commentary.
I still watch his vids for knowledge even though they are hella out of date.
I'd love to see some impartial reviews of weapons/suits/vehicles in their current state.
And for the love of balac... SOMEBODY DO A BANDWIDTH VIDEO FOR THE NOOBS! *ahem* sorry. Pet peeve.

I would say that it yet again comes down to a PR mismanagement by CCP. I understand that they have to prioritize and have to look forward to the future but all the talk about 1.3 to turn around and say oh we are shutting it down we might give you information worth while at fanfest falls to gross negligence.
The difference between this go and the very similar go that was FF14 is that this time people were just forced into giving up. We rode so high for so long on minimal output and absolute hope that there was nothing to gripe about or riot about or what ever. People just accepted it was time to move on and if CCP makes something happen then maybe it will be worth checking it out.
