It's 2016 and some of us are still here. Overall, things are falling apart. Mass disconnects are becoming more frequent, and Frame rate issues are still plaguing us. Lag of course is still here, but really what im concerned most about is the rampant and borderline common use of Officer gear in pub matches. And also the jump mods.
Officer gear was supposed to be rare. It's not. You can't play one match without someone running Officer gear these days. Can you look into usage data for officer gear?
I'm not sure, but you guys didn't plan game and weapon balance under the assumption that officer gear would become common did you? The gear is by design, op, and now new players are facing vets without access to these items. They can't compete. I was under the assumption that officer gear was for the highest levels of play, such as in a tournament, but stomping noobs in pubs with it? How is officer gear balanced when it's frequent and common?
Please review game design and balance for Dust 514. |

We felt it was a bad idea to allow dozens and dozens of weapons to be generated freely by every player and his/her alts. We argued and pleaded with CCP to change the system, and eventually they agreed. You can contend that it was too little too late, but we got to it as soon as we had the power to do so.
I know. I think you should have gone further though, and wiped everyones officer gear. Assign an ISK value to each item and then compensate players for items removed.
Set things right. |

it's not hate. it's doing what needs to be done. CCP messed up with their handling of passive ISK generation in PC, and they did it again with passive generation of officer gear.
they havent learned that sometimes when you screw up, you need to go back and make corrections. |

i have officer gear. ive got plenty of balac ck.0's and frames and RR's, magsecs, bolt pistols, and sniper rifles, plus other stuff that i just trade or sell cause i dont use it. this isnt a post from a guy who ran out of officer gear. Im posting this because i have more gear than i can use and i know other have more than i do, which is the problem im pointing out.
ive got enough balac' ck.0 to run in pubs and not care, and frames for days. thats a problem, even though i hardly run officer gear out of spite. |

But I buy for the sake of collecting... Others buy to just pwn kids... It's annoying. I only buy officer gear for PC and nothing else.
i almost got in trouble for running apex in a pc lol... until they saw me murdering fools lol. but yea some FC's will order everyone into officer gear right from the start. how are new corps and players supposed to break into PC against corps like that?
EDIT:
if we had a true player market, the prices for officer gear would be rock bottom by now if we could see just how much gear is floating around |

Crimson ShieId wrote:Officer gear might have been uncommon before player trading and the warbarge (The second of which only became a problem for those farming alts) but that doesn't mean it was rare. People stockpiled things like that and just rarely used them. It wasn't worth making a new fitting for most players when you had a finite supply, say... 50-100 of something, unless you really enjoyed that weapon, especially before the second resupply option was added that let you only resupply what you were missing during battle. I've had tons of officer weapons for ages, nearly in the triple digits for a few of the rifles and could have been using them like candy at any time (Mind you, this is WAY before player trading and the warbarge were ever a thing) but I didn't feel like bothering (Though I still saw other players using them in pubs occasionally, especially when they thought they were winning and wouldn't lose them)
CCP would never wipe assets like that though, as some of those officer weapons/suits are tournament won and can't even be salvaged anymore. Not only that, but players would just get back to trading again as soon they could, so to remove this "overabundance" of officer weapons and suits, you'd have to eliminate player trading for officer gear, wipe everyone's Isk, all assets and officer gear included from said assets or the cycle would simply begin anew within a few days/weeks... This game would flounder and lose most of the players it had left at that point, and given the mass of glitches it has, the lack of an ad campaign by CCP, and the plethora of other, better games on the market at the moment, it would probably never recover from that loss.
no but CCP could remove them from salvage and loot boxes, until the population of gear fell low enough. that would put more pressure on players to not run them in pubs. |
