The XBox One has to use "variable resolution" to downgrade graphics in real time in order to run Halo 5 at 60 fps.
Calling it a current-gen console is kind of a misnomer.

In this generation, I would argue that having all three is the best option.
PS4 and X1 offers exclusives, yes. But both are not particularly worthy enough to warrant a sole purchase. PS4 is pumping more indie games that you can play on PC on outdated hardware. But some of their exclusives are cool. X1 is getting my attention with their exclusives like that Quantum Shift and GOW.
But honestly both consoles don't offer anything drop dead exciting that warrants the insane cultist like fanboyism that permeates any comment section that discusses the two.

For the most stable online gaming, especially for fast paced games such as FPSs or driving games, console is better. There's also reportedly less cheating on consoles. For a ton of free and cheap games, PC is the way to go. Plus, there are alot of mods for popular games if you want to try something different in a familiar title. On the negative side (besides more online cheating), you have to update your PC's hardware/software to run some of the most current games which normally adds additional costs.

Actually, consoles are no more difficult to hack than that of a PC as long as the user is savy enough. They are practically PC-lite as far as I can see.

That said, just look at the games available. I like PS Exclusives, so I stick with them. I do have a PC, though. I, also, have a Wii U, which I got for Smash.

Older games on PC are full of hackers, older games on consoles either don't have a server anymore, or are completely dead, so no one cares for hackers. Because of this, one may be inclined to say there are more hackers on PC, simply because there are more games that are still "alive".

For PS4?
Yes, because CCP has already established a presence with Sony Online Entertainment and it would far easier on the current player base when it comes to transferring ownership of assets from the PS3 to the PS4 version of Dust. That and the PS4 will not charge you anything for subscription since Free-to-Play games are exempt from the PlayStation Plus payment model for online multiplay.
For PC?
Even better because of the flexibility of the rigs and their longevity against the dreaded console life cycle. This would also offer greater connectivity with Eve Online and its main server Tranquility which means CCP can then fight against cheaters more effectively thanks to the help of Tranquility which is also Eve Online's BIG BROTHER if you know what I mean. Macro/Bot users have an extremely hard time avoiding detection against this server which also has the ability to recognize certain behavior patterns in players and is backed by a security team that will be able to link multiple accounts even if they don't seem to be related because of the ISK trail in the game.
For Xbox One?
I don't like it mainly because not even the Free-to-Play games have any exemptions when it comes to online multiplay so you have to pay the monthly subscription. That and I was turned off from the Xbone as soon as I found out that Halo 5 doesn't come with local 4-player multiplay. I mean, if people want online multiplay then fine by me but don't take away my ability to enjoy game night with my personal friends at home as we sit next to each other ready to toss frag grenades at each other. Wait... did I just go off topic?
For Nintendo?
LOL

That's like saying no one bothers to hack Apple computers anymore which can't possibly be any further from the truth. Just because something is a console doesn't mean no one bothers to hack it. I have seen people make a business hacking Wii consoles for christ sake.
PS: Even modern day consoles can suffer from hackers.

PS4 is not doing too great of a job holding 60 fps at 1080 either. Unlocking that extra core that they did a few weeks ago should help but only as developers start to make use of it.

We are all sharing opinions brosef.
I also didn't say that the console exclusives can be found on PC. Read what I said completely.
Side note: I never cared for Ratchet and Clank or Uncharted. From Software needs to release a new Armored Core. That's if they can pull their eyes from Demon's/Dark Souls/Bloodbourne. We shall see.

Depends what you want, like, need, can afford, and your time investment. There's no good answer here.
If money isn't an issue, and you want the best of the best of the best gaming experience: PC. With a bit of knowledge you can even build one yourself to suit your exact needs. It can even be plugged into the TV and used with a controller, if you like the couch.
If you don't want to bother with PC installation and it's potential problems, or perhaps don't have the money to buy a good gaming rig, then consoles are for you. If you're a fan of Nintendo games get a wii U, otherwise get a PS4, don't touch the Xbone.
Ofc you can always get both. I have a custom gaming rig and a wii U, the wii is used to play with friends (nintendo games are generally great when it comes to multiplayer) or play some games not available on PC. As for the PC, it's to play games with all the graphics maxed out. I have a 27 inch, 1440p, 144hz, IPS monitor with G-sync. My computer can push 144 fps in all but the most demanding games (I get 80fps in Witcher 3 with hairworks off). The combination of vibrant colors, high refresh rate, adaptive refresh (so no screen tearing) and high resolution means is that it isn't so much a screen as a window overlooking an other realm. My point is that this is an experience you will NEVER have with consoles. When compared to witcher 3 on PC, DUST514 is as visually attractive as a fresh steaming pile of cow sh*t.

that is because no one is bothering to optimize and use the API that allows direct hardware access.
pretty much any game on ps4 runs on emulated directx, go figure what it does to performance. |
