I feel like a lot of the veteran posters (pre rouge wedding) have permanently hung up their helmets, put their Scrambler Pistol in the gun safe, mounted their AR on the wall and tossed their Locus Grenades into some locked drawer.
I'm wondering, are you commenting with you armor on or do you permanently have your senator-esque robes on instead? Because I know that even when I try to play this game I can't get anything more than domination, and even that takes about a fourth of an hour.

Yeah, i logged in a few games on the last Christmas event day but before that it's been at least 6 months maybe more. I just read forums on the hopes of news. TBH, it's my schedule and priorities but the last few games gave me disconnects so eh...
Most of my comments are just goofing or calling people out for lapses in logic. Mostly just screwing around when bored at work.

I stopped playing 3-4 months ago due to other things that happened in life, after that 3-4 months later I come back and literally nothing has changed. The old days we're more alive, Everyone was rivals with one another, Eve = Dust link looked promising, and actual events kicked off such as, " The Fall of the Titan " .
Then these kind of things start to happen, spiraling the game down hill forever.
My extensive bug list that I kept updated since Hotfix Alpha ! Then submitted a help ticket to get looked at, never did, and all those bugs and glitches still work. I stopped playing due to lack of interest in fixing bugs and glitches in this game.
I still hop on like once every 2 weeks, pounding the scrubs with Proto Vehicles and Suits or Officer.

I still play every weekend for a couple hours a day. Friday - Sunday I hop on. It's sad that the silence drove so many away. Can't say I'm surprised, but it's still sad.

I still play... I had a PSN that joined halfway during open beta but forgot the information... So I then created Pancake and started from scratch... I have found that skirm gives me more balanced matches than Dom... So yeah... Puncake is still playing this game... The only thing keeping me entertained is the community... Once all my friends leave I may leave too...
It's getting to the point where I can barely handle 3 matches before I want to quit... You'll usually find me on alts nowadays...

I log in from time to time, make a few builds and play 1 or 2 games.
When the "making builds and fiddling around in the menus" part is more entertaining than the actual game with its usual encounter with either quitters, jumpers, roofcampers or worse, its not hard to turn that PS4 on again.
Its mostly the horrid cowardly playstyles (or indeed, lack of effort) from such a large part of this community that puts me off playing Dust, the game got its issues but the general playerbase got more IMNSHO.

I try and play, but after either a half hour waiting for a skirmish, I normally give up and play half a dom.
Once you start playing a dom you see every bad thing about dust dragged out in front of you. I might finish one match if I am in an extra patient mood.
Every time I am forced to play a dom I lose a little more love for this game. Dom is cancer for fun.

Once a week at best to check in with people who simply refuse to move on. The funny thing is I will sign on for 2 - 3 hours and at best play 2 matches. Most of my time is just voiced into various channels.
I even booted everyone from our basically dead alliance and gave it away. It was just an ISK sink on my Eve account for zero reason.

Pretty much this. I logged in once over Christmas and just haven't had any desire to since then. If 1.3 is an actual thing and we start seeing some more blue posts around here I might reconsider. As it stands now I don't hardly see any corpies on and the few games I did pay were buggy messes. |

Dust always seems like a good idea, until I get into that first game. I have a backlog of ps3 and ps4 titles to get through so I have barely any incentive. I also gave up the drink, so even less reason to play shooters in general. I do log in from time to time, to hop into whatever new Corp my buddies have convinced themselves is going to make a run at pc.

I'm on PS4 now. Really looking hard for a replacement for dust. Still no luck. Then I went back to dust to play a few games and I remembered why it was time to move on. So I gave my PS3 to my little nephew.
I'll still be keeping an eye out for news this year if there will be a port for dust. Hopefully it will stay on console. In the meantime, I'll be playing NBA2k16, the Division, and WIldlands for Christmas.

I deploy rather infrequently unless corpies or friend are online to talk **** with but I've just downloaded War Thunder again and started a new profile to since my original was looking quite poor with only a little over 120 kills, 300 assists, and something like 97 deaths.
Since I've gotten back to roots I'm now sitting on 32 confirmed ground target kills, 24 assisted kills, and only seven deaths.
I am in love with the Challenger Mk.II which netted my 14 kills and no deaths in the first match I deployed it as well as the Tetrach for its first match performance in a perfect solo flank defence on Poland (Map Name).

It's definitely getting harder to play, played one or two matches(can't remember tbh) over the past 3 weeks, waiting for the urge to play to come back, hopefully that will be sometime soon.
The silence on the forums feels like CCP is trying to wean the remaining vocal playerbase off the game, perhaps to make more gentle the impending grace stoke.
Patches and hotfixes notwithstanding, Dust has achieved what it is going to achieve. CCP's reputation as a developer worth or not worth investing in has also gained or lost pretty much everything it had to gain or lose from Dust.
The game doesn't seem to be functioning as much of a testbed anymore, except perhaps for iterative balancing changes on existing mechanics/systems. Perhaps it's still being used as a testbed for RMT generation.
All that's left is the joy of combat, but Dust's unaddressed problems result in 5 or 10 bad matches for one good match. Dust has been essentially severed from New Eden and the long night is coming.
In the meantime this merc is staying in station and seeing just how much topshelf booze, drugs, hookers and madness tens of millions of ISK can buy.
We fought like champions for what might have been. That battle is over now, but all is not lost, because damn, it's still good to be immortal.
If there's redemption for us mercs or CCP, it lays on the far side of the void. It's like that old soldier's prayer: "God, if there is a god, save my soul, if i have a soul."

Most days I end playing DUST thinking "Why do I still play this game?".
Then I play a few other games online (PS4) that I still hadn't had nearly as much fun with as I had on DUST.
Then the whole vicious cycle begins again.
Right now, I almost welcome news of the servers being shutdown. CCP letting the game die by a thousand cuts (and months of silence) is not good for anyone.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

Dust has grown terrifically stale to me. I still occasionally play a few matches though; around once or twice per week.

A corpmate and myself recently came back 2 months ago after almost a year hiatus. It's been a pretty mixed bag with 1/2 the changes being god praising and the other 1/2 controller smashing frustration. The jumpy suits+absurdity of handheld splash damage+rail rifles makes me what to pull a jay n silent bob on people sometimes. That and what remains of the playing veterans claim with their dying breath that things are balanced and that there is nothing wrong with their proto stomping god fits vs... well everything else. Yesterday had a match where a guy was just jumping rooftops and went over 30/2 or something ridiculous purely because he was so fast he was breaking hit box calculations. All along the way lobing explosive rounds on people below. I myself chucked a nade as his feet only to have the hits not calculate and him scamper off if nothing happened. Rage inducing incidents like this are what people leave games for. any other game would have seen this type of breaking game play and said "nope!" and crushed within a month or two. CCP though has a history of letting broken gameplay continue to the point of it being the only meta used before making a change. |

A little bit, maybe a couple of hours each week.
It just isn't anywhere close to being as enjoyable as it used to be.
Now, perhaps if CCP confirmed Legion or Dust 2.0 and that we got to retain our skin/non-APEX BPO's... maybe, just maybe there would be a reason to play more frequently.

Been playing since June '13, I believe. Vet or not, I might as well answer this question. No. I don't play as much as I used to. Mostly because matches are boring. I miss having a good competition. I miss playing with friends (they all have moved on from Dust). I miss pre-1.8 scouting. I dunno. I think I like the direction the game is going, but I don't like the direction the community is going, which is pretty much to the nearest graveyard.

I still check the forums every now and again, but I have finally moved onto a boat (a boat I originally, way back when, considered giving a dust related name) so I can't be assed to waste precious electricity on a game that, while I have spent more time and energy on than anyone of you would believe, is just disappointing me.
@ any CCP bros still reading this, I still love you, all of you (especially you, logibro!), but I can't help but feel massively let down after all the work I have put in.

In summary, no. After playing current gen for so long I simply cannot adapt. Most of the people I played with who posted in this thread unsurprisingly have similar views. I want to play it so bad again, but I can't bare the lag or matchmaking or whatever is wrong with the game now.
Will return if a PS4 version comes out. If you see me on these days, take a picture. :)

I don't know if I'd call myself a veteran (player or poster), but I haven't been on dust since just before last Black Friday when the last of my friends finally got PS4's. We play other games and play mostly destiny together.
Honestly can't say if I'd play a ported dust or not. If pc then likely not. |

In the meantime this merc is staying in station and seeing just how much topshelf booze, drugs, hookers and madness tens of millions of ISK can buy.
We fought like champions for what might have been. That battle is over now, but all is not lost, because damn, it's still good to be immortal.
If there's redemption for us mercs or CCP, it lays on the far side of the void. It's like that old soldier's prayer: "God, if there is a god, save my soul, if i have a soul."
