A corpmate and myself recently came back 2 months ago after almost a year hiatus. It's been a pretty mixed bag with 1/2 the changes being god praising and the other 1/2 controller smashing frustration. The jumpy suits+absurdity of handheld splash damage+rail rifles makes me what to pull a jay n silent bob on people sometimes. That and what remains of the playing veterans claim with their dying breath that things are balanced and that there is nothing wrong with their proto stomping god fits vs... well everything else. Yesterday had a match where a guy was just jumping rooftops and went over 30/2 or something ridiculous purely because he was so fast he was breaking hit box calculations. All along the way lobing explosive rounds on people below. I myself chucked a nade as his feet only to have the hits not calculate and him scamper off if nothing happened. Rage inducing incidents like this are what people leave games for. any other game would have seen this type of breaking game play and said "nope!" and crushed within a month or two. CCP though has a history of letting broken gameplay continue to the point of it being the only meta used before making a change.

I played one match today and its probably going to be awhile before I do that again

I feel like a lot of the veteran posters (pre rouge wedding) have permanently hung up their helmets, put their Scrambler Pistol in the gun safe, mounted their AR on the wall and tossed their Locus Grenades into some locked drawer.

I'm wondering, are you commenting with you armor on or do you permanently have your senator-esque robes on instead? Because I know that even when I try to play this game I can't get anything more than domination, and even that takes about a fourth of an hour.

Depends on whether or not I can quickly log in to play a match, or if it takes 2 hours before it finds one

It's definitely getting harder to play, played one or two matches(can't remember tbh) over the past 3 weeks, waiting for the urge to play to come back, hopefully that will be sometime soon.

The silence on the forums feels like CCP is trying to wean the remaining vocal playerbase off the game, perhaps to make more gentle the impending grace stoke.

Patches and hotfixes notwithstanding, Dust has achieved what it is going to achieve. CCP's reputation as a developer worth or not worth investing in has also gained or lost pretty much everything it had to gain or lose from Dust.

The game doesn't seem to be functioning as much of a testbed anymore, except perhaps for iterative balancing changes on existing mechanics/systems. Perhaps it's still being used as a testbed for RMT generation.

All that's left is the joy of combat, but Dust's unaddressed problems result in 5 or 10 bad matches for one good match. Dust has been essentially severed from New Eden and the long night is coming.

In the meantime this merc is staying in station and seeing just how much topshelf booze, drugs, hookers and madness tens of millions of ISK can buy.

We fought like champions for what might have been. That battle is over now, but all is not lost, because damn, it's still good to be immortal.

If there's redemption for us mercs or CCP, it lays on the far side of the void. It's like that old soldier's prayer: "God, if there is a god, save my soul, if i have a soul."
