I'm just gonna put this out there. I predict that Dust 514 will remain as a ps3 exclusive title until Sony no longer provides support for the PS3. Once that happens, the Dust team and all their assets will be dissolved and then CCP can go back to focusing on their primary money making game. There isn't going to be a port of any kind, and valkyrie is our replacement because CCP realized that they should stick to what they know best, and that is spaceships. They haven't pulled the plug yet because they're still getting some money out of us. If they were actually going to keep Dust 514, then we would be included in things like fan fest, or other events that involves CCP's fan base. It's also apparent that any mention of us is an embarrassed mumble and they want to just sweep us under the rug and pretend that we don't exist while at the same time trying to not say it to our faces.

Most of the Vampire: the masquerade players I knew were only hopeful that the purchase kept the product alive until CCP found a buyer with real potential.
It's not only that the project was wayyyy out of their professional capabilities, It's the fact, that they obviously do not have the slightest clue how to organise a project. They might act as if they are cladari with business plans and so on, but in their harts, they are pure minmatar, bits and pieces glued together with ducttape, minus the Winmatars op'ness...
It's just utterly pathetic.
I just feel for Ratt and the few devs who have to cope with all that crap.

Daemonn Adima wrote: It's kind of sad that Dust is a product from a company, who actively advertised and try to recruit people to try their product. We did, we had issues, and lots of changes have been made over time. Through that time, they lost customers. So much so to the point where they took employees off the project and can't afford to keep up with their own creation. Players or customers had no influence on the bad choices the company made.
Well said.
I think we all need a laugh and some perspective now after all this qq.

If the Dust team was scaled way down and Gunjack was made during the rest of CCP Shanghai devs free time then what exactly were they working on in their "on time". Not to crush your hope, but CCP Shanghai's primary focus was the Eve Online China server (Serenity). At least, that was my understanding. When they aren't developing/maintaining Serenity they are working on Tranquility. When all of that is done they might have some time to work on DUST 514 or Gunjack... maybe... probably.
Does not surprise me at all as this kind of "poaching" is what CCP has done time and time again.
The real basis of that glimmer of hope I have is that CCP simply can not make any decision in a timely manner so the chances of Dust's future already having been scrapped are slim. Wow, I never really thought about the fact that my hope revolves around how terrible CCP is.

To be perfectly honest, I hope, that Gunjack and Valkyrie are a big success....
If not CCP will be in big trouble.
If yes, there might be hope for a new iteration of Dust in the future.
Right now, it seems ALL dev resources are pulled away towards other products.
There isn't even a market update whatsoever since mid october... roughly the time when the Ratt went silent.
So face it guys, the gamemasters are what's left on this game.
There is no development, since CCP has way more important stuff to get right than our little corner of the EVE universe. And if they fail, the whole company might go down the drain! These new investors want revenue they don't care about your accumulated SP or ISK or whatever dreams you have as a Dust player...
Sad but true, we are not important to CCP at the moment. That doesn't mean they don't care, it means they can't care because of other more important stuff going on. |
