Freezing was so bad for me I literally had 8 games in a row freeze on me, so I started to do some digging to see what might help. I found this lovely tutorial on how to do a database reconstruction on my PS3, which supposedly would help it run better.
After doing it, it has improved my freezing problem by 95%, I hardly ever freeze at all anymore and the beta is MUCH more enjoyable. The only downside to the database reconstruction is that it will erase all of your saved messages as well as any playlists you have on your ps3, but from what I can tell that's the only downside. PS3 is running better than ever and I've had no problems because of the reconstruction. Here is a link if you guys want to try it out to see if it helps your freezing issues like it did for me.

According to that site, it doesn't erase any saved games or game data.
Nevertheless I will backup anyway and try this |

I gave you a preemptive like for the find. I'll try this in a few days and see what happens, what've I got to lose. My system has been freezing a lot lately and dust is about 5-7 a night, a span of four to five hours.
By the description, it sounds like this is needed on my end. |

Worth a try. I did this when I played the Skyrim beta, but to no success. Still ran into framerate issues, lag, crashes. It's always worth a shot since it won't actually harm your system.
And by Skyrim Beta, I mean the official launched title released on 11/11/11.... Did they ever fix that crap?! |

Nice! I'll have to give this a shot, and are you saying that you don't freeze up anymore or that it only happens rarely? For now I just reload every two matches. I only get a couple hours in per weekend so I'd like to hear what some of the other guys/gals that get to play hours on end have to say. |

currently testing this, i'll edit this post with updates
i almost never freeze in ambush games, but almost constantly in skirmish, so i'll be playing skirmish exclusively until i freeze
edit; CONFIRMED NOT WORKING, froze on my third consecutive skirmish game, and lost a 51,020 isk dropsuit |

my deal is I bought a new slim in october and it's been freezing a lot since day one. It's such a shame cuz my old fat boy was a gaming beast, and knowing what I know now would have never gotten rid of it. |

I still freeze from time to time, but its like once every 10 matches, opposed to every 1-2.
Like I said may not work for everyone, **** I don't even know what exactly it's doing. All I know is I've had really no negative effects and a significant improvement when it comes to the hard freezing. I figure if it can help out a few people its worth it, if it doesn't do anything for you then I apologize, I guess you'll have to wait for the patch. |

Made it through 5 matches without freezing.
Although the first lasted all of 3 seconds as I barely got to see the overhead map before we lost >.>
But usually it's the third and always on the fourth match that I froze, so I guess it helped? At least a little maybe?
All that hatemail lost, all to get one extra game in for one week before they fix everything >.> |

Meh, I don't care all that much really, all my best art I capped on my camera. And it did help my PS3, everything else loads faster now as well.
I'll just have to earn more I guess ;) |

I've run the gamut of options to try and avoid freezing, including quit every X matches, what you suggest here, and full reinstalls after cleaning up the HD. No luck, it always comes back to freezing. |

4 weeks of playing dust. 4 kids playing on the PS3 when dust server isnt up. And not 1 frezze. Fyi my ps3 is about 4 yrs old. It still has the metal contacts for power and eject.
My trick is its not placed in a small airless no flow place. It is sitting out in the open with a 5k Btu AC about 3 ft away. The ac is made for a 150 SQ FT room. My gaming room is around 100 SQ FT. A ps3 is like a PC if it gets too hot it acts up and locks up. Sadly Once this has happen too much or too often the damage is done and nothing short of replaceing can fix it.
Last weekend i put this to a test. I shut of the ac had nothing but a fan on the other side of the room moveing around the hot air in the room. After 3 battles the PS3 started to become a slug and slow down. To avoid damage i turned on the AC and let it run for a few to cool the room down. The PS3 ran fine the rest of the weekend. FYI between me on dust514 weekends and my 4 kids my PS3 runs about 18 hrs a day everyday.
Cooling is a must for anything be it pc or console. Heat is the biggest enemy of these awesome toys.
Tbh if i knew for a fact modding my ps3 to be liquid cooled wouldnt stop me from getting on to PSN i would have done it long ago.

I have an old fatty 80 gig PS3, the actual rebuild took like 2 minutes. Not sure how long a TB would take but I cant imagine it would be too intense, 30 minutes at the absolute most? |

i have tried a few times with no noticeable reduction in freezing. i even tried standing my ps3 up in a very, very well ventilated area. no dice, it still froze on my fourth consecutive game of skirmish
however i can play many games of ambush with seemingly no penalty

Again once the damage is done u will always have overheating problems this cant be fixed. I had an old pc i got from a yardsell paid 5 bucks for it. It loads up runs 5 mins or less and shuts down due to overheating. I went out got a $200 liquid cooling system for it. it ran for 7 mins and shuts down due to overheating. The damage was done. but wasnt a waste just the cpu was fried 50 bucks new cpu total 255 bucks invested resold it for 400 to a pawn shop. Sadly i dont think a ps3 cpu can be replaced so easy. |

If this is really a heat issue SONY is going to be paying for a new one for me. It's only a few months old. |
