I know people will just leave by unplugging the internet or turning off the PS3 but maybe the idea of some kind of deposit to sign up to the contract?
Up until the point you deploy for the first time you're in the clear to leave whenever you want but once you have deployed you've accepted the contract and pay a, say 100,000ISK deposit, call it a Strategic Management Down Payment or something equally catchy. Complete the battle it is returned to you, leave the battle by clicking leave battle and you loose it.
Besides the disconnecting in other ways I'd assume the downsides of this would be people refusing to deploy at the start of battle until the direction of the fight was apparent, mitigating for people being Scottied and I'm sure other things I haven't thought of.
The first could possibly be mitigated by a slightly longer war barge and then the deposit would kick in once the game starts rather than the first deployment or something.
People who leave then either have their deposit added to the EoM payout in some way. Either to all those that complete the match, or just to those who join later, or something else. The people who join later have to pay lower deposits etc.
All very simple to programme with the teams limited resources I'm sure!!!..... I also expect that there are a myriad of ways that this wouldn't work as an idea anyway that I've just not bothered to think about.
Also like the idea of the Fog of War idea. Either off of War Points earned or "simply" off of the idea of being spotted, so the enemy teams list doesn't populate until the members have been physically seen (sanned?) by a member of the opposition.
As with the comment above I'm personally not much of a battle leaver. More an AFK/ Mess around in the Redline hoping I don't get sniped or have a Dropship land on me kind of guy, but there are sadly definitely matches where it simply becomes uninteresting/pointless to bother.
Apparently, although I don't own a XBone so it's only hearsay from friends etc, Halo 5 suffers from a similar problem of lopsided matches due to people leaving too. So it's not just us and CCP! |
