Use http://eve-offline.net/ run by Chribba, Eve Legend. We get over 3 grand 'round the clock', so it's alot more than that, in total, as the world turns. The few hours before downtime are the quietest (US Late Late Late Show Time).
The busiest time is when the Weekly Skill Cap resets. I would personally love to remove the cap, to see everyone in a Skill Frenzy (like me), but that wouldn't be fair to Weekend Warriors, and people with lives.

People get hung on on the concurrent number, always have. As if that's our entire player base. The number of people that actively log on during a month is considerably higher than most would give credit for and massively exceeds the numbers using the forums, which only a few percent. Occasionally CCP Rattai will give an updated figure on the forums for log ins. We'll poke him about do so again in the near future. Clearly this is all the more reason to port the game to PC or next gen. I feel there is a substantially larger pool of players that would play this game, if only it was more polished, bugs ironed out and performance increased. These are things that really could be done with a port. Um, I kind of meant it as a good thing. Over 3000 players, at any given moment, (apart from downtime) must mean closer to 20,000 or 30,000, at least, through the day. That's a good number, plus the social aspect that only Eve and Dust have, In fact, it's greatest strength,(which we take for granted),where old friends catch up after a break. There's some stuff to iron out, but people keep coming back, for some reason. Me included. I do recommend a break, though, from all video 'sport'. |
