Dust514 & The Blueberry Blues...
The early day's are the worst, but stick with it, as it does get better... a lot better!....
Tips:
Skill Tree - Things to do first.
Drop Suit Core - Level 2
Dropsuit Upgrades - Level 2 Shield / Armour Upgrades - Level 2
Shield Extension / Armor Plating - Level 1
Nanocircuitry - Level 2 (the compact nanohive will repair armor & give you ammo! - this thing can save your life....)
Drop Uplink Deployment - Level 2 (pads means team spawns, which means points for you! Only one pad at a time. Level 3 pads allow you to drop 2 at a time...)
The rest of you SP now goes on Core Upgrades / Dropsuit Electronics & Engineering...
As you progress up the levels, you will be able to add more shield and armor modules. When you have these two at level 4, you can then begin to look a leveling up, shield ext / armor plates to level 3...
After that, you can upgrade suit modules / weapon etc etc...
...
Ok next.... what to wear?...
If your dead, you can't earn points quick enough and everything you have is rubbish...
Except!
The Amarr Frontline with the Assault Scrambler rifle. This is your standard suit, imo. The weapon is powerful, it has range and the suit your wearing can be tanked with basic plates, which will make you slow, but you'll be alive for longer... Couple that with, 'stick with a teammate' and you'll be better off all round...
(imo) scouts, sentinel, logis are too role specific. You need to just worry about staying alive longer between deaths in the first few months. Stick to the basic/assault fits...
...
Game play...
At the start of each game, you hack everything in your path. A hack is the same points as a kill, so hack everything, if it's not your teams, hack it...
If you see a spawn pad or nanohive of the other teams, smash it (punch, rather than shoot, takes less time or need to aim)
You can't win the round for your team, but you can help. Cleaning up all the loose ends, goes a long way to doing that...
Once the round really kicks in, watch your back, stick with a buddy and pray... Retreat is not a dirty word! Range is your friend.
Getting wrecked and redlined will happen, it is a fact of Dust... Don't worry about it... (or try not to anyway)
Sniping... You will have to do this at some point, just to stay alive. Get good at it. Crouch, settle, (release left stick to stop the wobble), aim, get the headshot multiplier and boom, that clone is dead...
The basic sniper rifle is all you need. Aim for the head, always aim for the head. A headshot will take down all but the best, or heaviest of suits. I use the free Caldari Protectorate suit with the CovenantSR and it works just fine....
...
Stick with it, everyone is better than you...
When you see the weapon and suit that killed you, you'll know it was better than the one your wearing or using, so take heart from that and it won't feel so bad...
Domination Mode I personally play this more than any other. Because it single point objective, it means you learn the maps, style of game play and the scrub tactics, quicker. Which, when you know what to expect, really helps in the early months...
