BELOW 3000?????? ... there wasn't an event this weekend... Wtf are you talking about? There is an event scheduled for the end of November... is that what you are thinking of?
Tech Ohm Eaven wrote:But the real strike is comeing on Black Friday at 299 for a PS4 with games. So I expect some to run to Hussle-Stop to trade in a PS3 to buy a PS4. Cause other than dust 514 what else is there to play in 2016 on PS3? Another PS3 Barbies Sisters Puppy Rescue? Most Game Developers are saying no content for old gen in 2016 and beyond. You act like I don't realize PS3 is a console in it's twilight...

Yeah my bad. Meant to say that event will be impacted by folks using the new hottness from Black Friday PS4.
And the PS4 supporting MKV means easy subtitles versus the byzantine ways of the PS3 needing a hard baked in encode for subtitles...yuck ps3. |

I would like to suggest, in light of an article stating that P0rn hub saw its views decrease as a result of FO 4 releasing, that perhaps that game was a better unofficial boycott than the organized attempt.
I wonder what would happen if they had not boycotted during a prime release week? Possibly nothing.

Im buying a ps4 from my friend for $250 = great deal but the black Friday one comes with a game of stupid Uncharted collection crap. Why not Battlefront bundle.
I've never played a Uncharted game but on ps4 as a bundle = BS. Walmart, Target and Best buy same ******* bundle = Gay

Unfortunately, even with their reach being in the thousands, one critical factor that everyone seems to have forgot is that PCU =/= Unique Logins. There is no way for the Dust 514 community to view unique logins and thus the only metric to go off of is the active players online at any given time.
So, if the boycott (or strike or whatever you wanna call it) did have an effect, you probably wouldn't see it in the PCU anyway. Because we could have 1,000,000,000 "active players" (unique logins) but they could only be on for, say, long enough to get their daily login reward and their warbarge stuff.
With 2,500 - 3,000 players online, the community instantly thinks the numbers are low, that "Dust is dying", etc. In reality, there are hundreds of thousands of players that get on at various points throughout the day for varying duration.
The community's "activity" is nebulous and hard to put into words. The PCU is only a fragment of the information needed to classify what degree of activity the community has.

Honestly Boyos i love how everyone is general roght now i really love it.
edit.:
Oki i put some thigies out but it was too long.
I have just question, what is better:
1.)Be silent and do nothing even when i know there is flaws.
or
2.)Try to make thing better and be straight about situation and about what i think.

Doing something is not the same as doing the right thing. The boycott was a well meaning, but useless. It doesn't open up communication when players boycott, it closes it.
Paint yourself as martyrs or crusaders if it makes you feel good though. By all means.

I do not see it useless because there was some amount of people who show how they think and what they want from this game.
What seems like usefull data for us and for CCP.
But even if it was well meant but useless how you stated it, it is still better than do nothing. Honestly i already put some glitches on support/bugs and they are still here. What i can do more? Im not that boyo who likes "stares and wait".

That's not necessarily true. Yes, there would be a correlation for a player count reduction if 100, 333, or 750 players decided not to log on that day as their not participating would have been a contributory cause. However, being as the online player activity stayed the same from several days before, we can assume that just as many players logged on as those who had decided to boycott/strike. So even if the strike/boycott had an effect (we can't say for sure whether or not it did without evidence) any effect it did have was recovered by other players.

"Did it amount to anything"? If the goal was to get CCP to speak to us about the future of DUST 514 then the boycott doesn't appear to have been successful.

Dreis ShadowWeaver wrote:We have hundreds who have confirmed support, not thousands. That would be impossible, considering average player count hangs around 2000 during the day.
Still, this is a significant number of supporters.
What we actually said was that our reach is in the thousands. Thousands of people HAVE been contacted by alliance mails. However, some of these players are inactive.
You can rest assured though that we will indeed see a dip in player count on the 14th of November.

Dismounts off cross Hey, I didn't want to break anyone's spirit. I know why you attempted to boycott and I know where you are coming from. We're all frustrated with CCP's lack of communication. Believe it or not, I even thought about boycotting at one point.
Don't give up. Just find ways of actively requesting communication that are not an "attack". If the #PortDust514 campaign works for you, then do it. If not, reach out to gaming media and talk about the lack of communication from CCP.
Oh, and making a statement with your wallet is recommended. Like most businesses, CCP pays the most attention to their bottom line. When CCP does good (speaks to us regarding the future of DUST 514) purchase aurum. When they do bad (silence) don't purchase anything. Eventually they will learn that if they want money they must open their mouths. Either that, or they shut down DUST 514 permanently. Either way, we don't have to deal with DUST on the PS3 anymore so we win!
