New players are lost on the battefield and just get raped by old players or veteran. Many Times i seen some new players make like 0-15 or 1-19 in a match and some are asking how can they do to become better. They WANT to be good and competitive but honestly how many stay to grow in the pain ? A new player who start the game make around 1 or 3 fight on academy and just after he ll fight versus players with around 50-100 sp!!!! Academy should be locked between 5 or 10 sp and with this system I'm sure newberry ll be more happy , learn more fast the game and they would come in the real fight after the close academy with enjoy |

Being stomped, I was born in it. moulded by it, I was barely a man before I had my first kill streak. Now look at me, LOOK AT ME. I'll kill anything that moves, I'll slay the slayers I was on the receiving end of the boot, I was the stompee, but now I'm the stomper. Remember me

Only FW need a historical SP restriction (10M of SP)... in a public match it can be more competitive if Scotty doesn't got drunk each night and program a fairy match.

From negative to 4.06 kdr in this harsh environment. From a npc corp to now one of the dominating one. I have been through hell and if they can't then they should just quit.

So a new player with less than 1mil SP should be forced to go against 50mil+sp vets all the time?
Remember back when we started the SP gap was there but it wasnt a huge margin as it is today. Thy can not compete and it will take months before they can.
New players need a safe place to gain SP or have triple the SP gain us vets get otherwise we will only be keeping 1 out of every hundred or so new players.

Yes, it is a nice mentality to do the chest beating "I SWAM THROUGH A RIVER OF FECAL MATTER AND NOW I SMELL GREAT!" but don't expect to have many others waiting for you at the other side. In a game that requires other people to shoot and newer players to come in to fill in the gaps from people walking away, an experience specifically designed as "only the truly masochist will come through" is antithetical to the growth of the game; especially when the game is mediocre.
"But people play Dark Souls and that is all about being masochistic!" The game is also not mediocre: a C- student that gets by with some cool ideas. DUST, for as much as I really do like it, is that C- student.

This is why public games need meta progression or something like that. Or another one is all out and total war make like 10 new corps repacentive of each region and have total war leaving a safe haven for noobs.it can go back to the same when we get a port .#port

There really needs to be a 'graduate' program for the academy that extends far past the extremely low bar the academy graduation requirements are. Something like stated above that does not end until a certain SP count is reached, or a certain (very high) WP count. (Such as 25k - 50k WP total)
My other advice would be: Back when DUST had a few "Tutorial missions" (they sucked) I believe one of the rewards was a skill booster. I think that this idea should be transitioned to the Academy 2.0 such that it treats EVERY match in the academy as if you had a free skill booster. (Indicated as a "Academy Bonus" on EoM screen)
Also give more starter fittings to help better display the scope of DUST, namely a scout suit fit, and a heavy suit fit. Potentially only giving new players 50 of each fit so that it's not a BPO. (In case there is some resistance to the idea of giving more BPOs)
Give a new player tailored missions that persist while the player is under a certain SP threshold. These missions should reward pre-fit suits in quantities of 5. They should be easy to do such as hack 1 point, kill 10 players, hack 3 installations, run 5k meters, and the ever present win 1 battle for a key.
These are all low cost [technically speaking] options that allow new players to be eased into the game and acquire tools that will help them understand how the game works.

I think it should be extended some, but that ceiling is way too high.
You would just invite people to stomp in the academy more easily and with more SP than they see now.
I don't think the answer is easy, and would rather see incremental change than something so drastic as this.

Make the academy 5k to 10k wp before you graduate.
Give them starter fit in the three basic dropsuit. Light medium and heavy.
Give players corps ads for recruiting in the academy.
Give sp reward in daily mission for newbros.

longer academy cap means more old crutch players will roll alts to play the way they want to (slaughtering noobs). a trait that was previously noted by rattati.
im wary of splitting the player pool as its small enough already but possibly add a mlt/basic tier only game mode for all players that gives reduced isk and no daily mission rewards; an intermediate zone with mixed battles ie amb/ski/dom/acq but only 1 queue.
