Yea for fucks sake please! It got gimped to the point thatit couldn't be used to hunt, or ambush directly ages ago, it would be nice if the visuals were updated to allow it to function.as a positioning tool...also maybe decrease the cost to reflect its nerfing? Kinda insane how hard adv is to fit on adv suits

I see cloaked scouts moving around all the time, and standing still while cloaked is hardly a defence when recticles flash if you aim at them. I will admit that the lower tiers are easier to see, which is bull. There is absolutely no reason to run the basic cloaks unless they are the free ones on the apex suits because they don't lower visibility while on the move at all and take up stupid resources. That would be the only thing I would change is to make the visual the same across tier because between the duration, and the dampening bonus there is enough of a progression, and it would be nice to be able to fit a useful cloak on a basic or advanced frame.

Funny how it makes it alot easier to see when traversing open areas then, isn't it?

Maybe the proto cloak is fine but the basics can be seen very easily. This makes them useless, which in turn gimps scouts as a whole by making basic frames not able to get a benefit from what is their signature equipment(the "scout bonus" is a discount on fitting costs for a piece of equipment that is useless at that tier) and gimps adv pretty hard as well(adv cloaks take up a majority of the fitting on an adv suit.( Enough that the rest of the slots are very hard to fill, even with lower cost modules)

Source? I used to use the basic cloak exclusively until I had a glut of SP and just said **** it and went proto with it. Ive never had issues using the down-tier cloaks vs. the proto cloak except for the time the thing is active. Though I do agree that cloak CPU/PG costs are too high for scouts of basic/adv level (and even the proto minmatar has alot of trouble fitting the proto/adv tier ones). This problem also exists for high slot shield regen modules, plasma cannons, and hacking/kinetic modules, to greater or lesser extent. Yeah that problem isn't nearly to the same extent, and yes the graphics are different, no I don't have a source beyond anecdotal evidence, but yes I am almost certain there is a difference considering I see a difference not only when I equip them, but also on different scouts I'm up against.

Kinda insane how hard adv is to fit on adv suits It's not a combat cloak. It's a utility cloak. You use it to get from the city to an outside point undetected. Using a cloak in a city is beyond [mentally handicapped]. And yet you become more visible the further out you are. Nice argument talking about mentally handicapped. Also the nside the city it works to make an escape around a.corner and stop to hide, but you clearly don't play scout...

What a coincidence I've been scouting for at least that long.

He has been part of the many dicussions we have had about cloaks since their release. He has nearly 10k likes and is a very active member of the community. I have never seen nor heard of you in 2+ years, in-game, or on these forums. I'm pretty sure most others will say the same. His opinions stands much higher than yours. And I'm almost positive the cloak shimmer effect is the same for all three tiers of cloak. The only difference is profile dampening bonus and pg/cpu. Fine lets look at facts. Fact: his statement was (paraphrasing) the cloak is used to cross open areas, it is utility not combat. Fine, I agree with that. Fact: the further away you are the easier the shimmer is to see. This has been proven and states by ccp as a result of TV pixilation, and renders the cloak useless for its stated perpous of crossing open ground. So there you have my argument for why the cloak animation needs work REGARDLESS of weather it is different across tiers, or my seniority, or activity.

You should probably link that "fact" for us, because I don't remember CCP actually stating any particular reason for the shimmer being seen in some cases and not others. I have seen cloakers at point blank range in the dark and lost sight of them at 50m in bright lighting, I have also seen the opposite. If anything, seeing them at range would be more difficult because everyone knows Dust has rendering issues. I really wish I could but I'm not going to go travelling back through god knows how many threads. I want to say it was around the dropsuit tier normalization and release of the apex. However your testimony lends creedance to the argument that the visuals need to be tuned as you literally light up with the shimmer.
