All the CPM candidates said that the NPE was a big concern to them and they would work to fix it, The biggest, and worsening, problems on Dust are proto/officer stomping squads and people leaving matches, yet this event does nothing but encourage both behaviors. A new player has almost no chance of completing the event and will only face greater frustration than usual. The prize is a respec. If you are capable of getting 514 kills in a week, guess what?, you don't need a respec. The guys who need a respec are the ones who can't complete the missions because there suits are too weak. What the hell were you thinking?
I understand CCP's reasoning. Use up lots of officer gear, make it frustrating so people will buy Aurum stuff, but the CPM is supposed to be looking out for the players, not screwing them over. Well, then again, it is pretty well documented that the CPM looks out for their protostomping buddies every time, I guess my question is rhetorical.
Because, that's why.

I don't even know where to begin, so I won't.
Except to say...
Where the hell did you get the idea that we get to dictate what CCP does, again? Last I checked, "Telling Rattati what he can and cannot do" wasn't on the list of things we're allowed to do.
But given the general tone of your post, I don't particularly feel the need to justify myself further. Have fun.
That seems to be your response to all criticism, "I don't like your tone so screw you". Allow may have been a poor word choice, so I'll ask instead if you opposed this event and voiced your opposition?
Because, that's why.

But remember that CCP can opt to completely ignore CPM feedback and do what they want. The CPM might have had lukewarm reactions to this event and CCP said, "**** it, this event is easy to code and it's in time for Halloween so we're doing it."
Have you seen anything to suggest that the CPM voiced any opposition to this event or other events that encourage stomping? I haven't.
Because, that's why.

I know people like you. First there is issue with protos. After that with squads. What will be next time too OP Flaylock?? XD
I don't have an issue with either proto or squads, I have an issue with protosquads being placed against new players running solo. I could run in a protosquad, I occassionally do, but that does nothing to solve the problem. It isn't players like me with 70 milion SP that have the problem, I don't need a solution, the game does.
Because, that's why.

Have you seen anything to suggest that the CPM voiced any opposition to this event or other events that encourage stomping? I haven't. Heh... Jeez... I mean, we -just- finished hitting the warbarge passive officer gear generation. I dunno about you but I consider that a major success considering the impact it's had on the game since conception. There will never be a time, this CPM or the next, where we will address all the problems in one fell swoop (at least, not without outright breaking the game). So, my question is what would you like us to do, exactly..? Put yourself in our shoes and tell us what you would have said to CCP. How would you oppose the stomping in the event?
You are right, I am frustrated because the same problem has been an issue as long as I've been playing this game, and before that, and continues to be a problem. I no longer expect a good solution to matchmaking because I don't think one can be implemented. The reduction in officer gear was a good start, I wasn't even aware of that when I posted originally. The standardization of slots was also a good step, but clearly these "kill the most" events make a bad situation worse, why not implement something that like rewards for killing protosutis while wearing militia gear and bonuses for officer suits, why not have logi events or AV/vehicle events or anything but "Protoup, Squadup and leave if the competition is hard" events.
Sorry if my expectations of the CPM seem higher than reasonable, I know you have limited influence, but who else are we supposed to demand things from if not our representatives?
Because, that's why.

Darth-Carbonite GIO wrote:Since none of the other CPM members have really answered the original question, I'll try to, while ignoring the hate thread this discussion has devolved into. We as Dust players have wanted to be more connected to the daily going ons of Eve and the larger New Eden universe, so when The Crimson Harvest was announced for Eve, the Dust community guys quickly scrambled to create a tie-in event for us. The 514 kills objective, while not ideal, certainly fits the Blood Raiders theme. We strongly advised a more inclusive type of event, but the timetable was against us if we wanted it to coincide with Eve. The original rewards, in my opinion, were a bit lackluster, but we pushed hard for a Respec to be included in addition to the skin. This wasn't popular with everyone, but we knew many players would jump at the opportunity to redistribute their skills. But you'd know all this already if you had actually payed attention to what the CPM has been saying, on the forums, the Biomassed podcast, and our various Skype channels.
Thank you for the answer, I appreciate it. I read the forums everyday, but I think expecting us to Skype and watch podcasts may be expecting a bit too much time investment for the average, or even more than average invested, player to devote to the game outside of playing the game. I guess that my priorities are different than most of the members of the CPM, which is why I perceive them as acting in the interests of larger corporations, most experienced players and "protostompers". That doesn't make me right and you wrong. Thanks for your reply and for your efforts.
