I think one of the problems with the current system is that we (Dust) are too spread out. The Caldari have districts far into stable Gallente territory, making "borders" and "hotspots" nonexistent.
I can only find two systems which is 100% to one faction (Caldari/Gallente) in Dust, even if there must be more "stable" systems in EVE) Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Since we can't directly choose where to fight, perhaps a new battle spawn mechanics can artificially create the borders and hotspots, and make them naturally align to EVE's progress.
The goal of such a system should be: - Hotspots: Creating hotspots of activity within the same system for both Dust and EVE. - Predictability: Creating (fairly) predictable battle spawns in Dust based on sertain actions in EVE. - Borders: Creating clear borders.
For example: - No matches can spawn in Stable or Lost systems (predictability / borders). - All districts within a system will automatically switch to the new owner's faction when the system becomes Lost in EVE (borders). - When a system goes from Stable to Contested, an attack contract is automatically spawned in Dust on the planet with the fewest districts (predictability). - The same district can't be attacked twice within 30min, regardless of outcome. (Predictability) - New battles will always spawn on adjacent districts on the same planet, unless all are "locked" with the 30min rule. (Predictability / hotspots). - The more offensive plexing going on in the system, the more battles are spawned on the planets (Predictability / hotspots)
This would make it possible for EVE and Dust to coordinate and rally to a system. Not by any active in-game mechanic, but indirectly based on the knowledge how the system works. Large fights will focus the attention to a few planets, creating hotspots of activity which will not only benefit the EVE side (Dust bonuses), but also give Dust the support it needs in the form of OB support.
Taking a system from scratch in EVE without Dust support will be harder, since the odds are against you from the start. However, this will give a further incentive to find Dust battles and fight over the control satellite to provide the best opportunities for your own faction.
Only two (nice to have) changes would further make life easier with the system above: - EVE: A district satellite should show up on overview if a Dust battle is raging, not only if a capsuleer have connected to the satellite. That way it would be easier to find battles for the EVE folks.
- DUST: Show the true state of a system in the Factional Warfare map. Right now it only gives "Vulnerability" 0-100%, but it would be nice if it could give us the EVE statuses instead. (Stable, Contested, Vulnerable, Lost)
One last note (don't worry, my ramblings are soon over): When checking the Dust FW map today I noticed that the system "Old Man Star" is owned by the Gallente (District owner), with Vulnerability 0%. Guess who has 100% of the districts? Caldari... Anybody else feel this is wrong? With a mechanic as described above, this scenario would be impossible. |

As the ihub gets to about 80% armor remaining, Dust happened. The Gallente Dusties must have been doing well at the time. The conquer modifier in Akidagi ticked further in favour of Galmil which caused the ihub to go invulnerable. Calmil now had to take care of a few reds in system so they could run a few plexes and keep the bash going. Whether you knew it or not, if you were running Gallente FW today you had a real impact on Eve. It's a catchy title though, isn't it?

Stuff like this is why I want CCP to do another FW event to get more people into the queues. Last time we did it we actually got some Gallente Militia pilots to run complexes in a system Dust was spawning matches in to keep them spawning there, and we made a lot of progress in capturing it.

I hope the eve pilots make the contacts in FW and we dust players can join. A massive space battle takes place while we on the ground fight till the last clone.
I know what map would be great for this.
The MCC construction map. Bring it back in FW and PC.
