So today Calmil had a good chance of taking Akidagi - they set themselves up, fought a bit and eventually moved on to bashing the ihub (the structure that flips the system control). As the ihub gets to about 80% armor remaining, Dust happened.
The Gallente Dusties must have been doing well at the time. The conquer modifier in Akidagi ticked further in favour of Galmil which caused the ihub to go invulnerable. Calmil now had to take care of a few reds in system so they could run a few plexes and keep the bash going.
Whether you knew it or not, if you were running Gallente FW today you had a real impact on Eve.

Last time I saw this happen was an incredible experience.
Just before the Amarr empire conquered 100% of Amarr / Min space we had about a 40 man fleet working on taking down one of the last 3 systems the Minmatar held.
As we got closer and closer to to conquering the system I hopped into my channel (AmarrOne) and offered up a 1 million ISK bounty for every victory in that system. Once people realized I was right about every battle being in that system due to the amount of activity in the system all hell broke loose on the ground to match what was going on in space.
I quickly sprung into action dropping orbitals from Eve and getting a small defense force from our FC to support ground troops while plexing continued. 2 hours, over 100 million ISK, and a whole lot of fun later we completed what everyone in the fleet agreed was the fastest taking of a system any of them had ever been involved in.
It was a monumental occasion that I myself could not believe what had just happened. Many pilots in the fleet actually gave me donations afterwards to cover my expenses of feeding constant ground syncs in.
It was a very short time later that we completed the taking of the entire space squashing the minmatar back into their high sec to lick their wounds. |

We all know the link is real.... It just needs to be something more in my opinion....
Some of the battles being auto generated in fine but when one of the EVE player factions makes a push they should be able to flag a system/constellation. Dust players should then receive specific contracts rather than just feeling like they are joining random battles.
This should also work in reverse. Dust players want to push a system and can flag it so that EVE players can send space support.
You know.... Player generated content, something CCP should be quite good at.

Nah that's the ihub - a big, permanent (at least in FW) structure with lots of hitpoints. You can feed them LP to upgrade a system your faction owns. An upgraded ihub will make it more difficult for the enemy faction to take over your system.
If you want to take control of a system you have to first get the ihub into a vulnerable state, then remove all of it's shield and armor HP. After next DT the system will be yours.

Badass. Wish I could spend LP on that ihub and make it OP. I currently have 9,000 LP. I bet in eve it would cost millions of LP.

I posted this in the Council Chamber thread but I'll re-post it here to get more feedback (hopefully).
FW'ers in Eve already pay LP into their ihubs to upgrade their systems (basically make them harder to conquer). These upgrades decay over time which means they need to be topped up.
An extra LP slot could be added to each ihub that has a very fast decay (from max to 0 in 24hrs). The higher the amount of LP in this slot, the higher the chances that your Dusties will fight in your system. Kind of a way for Eve FW'ers to mark certain systems as 'important' in regards to Dust.

If they do this then the Dust/EVE link becomes real and we can see some coordinated action between the two games

The running of sites in FW areas tips the balance on power in space already without entosis links. Why not just have a NEOCOM option for 'contest worlds in current system'. Or add the option to the context menu when right clicking a planet? (Have all the sites spawn around planets so its easy).
This needs to trigger special contracts in DUST to conquer worlds imo, whereas the battle finder matches are kept as raids for LP only.

Even though I have played some EVE faction war (mostly OB support), I am not aware that the attackers also can deposit LP in ihubs? If not, wouldn't that present a problem since (as we all are aware) Dust can't select where to fight, only which side.
I.e marking a system as important (for defence) might actually cause more attack contracts for the opposition to be generated?

You're right, it's only the system owners that can deposit LP. The idea was that if the system is about to fall, the owners can throw in the LP after letting their own factions Dusties know they'll need to bring their A-game for the next little bit.

Ahh, then I understand Thanks for the explanation!
(It could actually also give rise to some lovely back-stabbing, since dumping LP into a ihub which is not contested might produce the effect I was describing above
