The problem is not about developing a program that detects modded controller as it's pretty easy to do.
I just don't think they have the right to stop people from playing with a different hardware. It's illegal to use a software that will modify values in the game, but a hardware that brings those values to their maximum level (by virtually pressing buttons really fast) is allowed. Thus, they don't have the legal right to block them (even if it's BS I grant you that).

What CAN they do about it? Well, actually anything they want. As you said its a simple program to develop. What WILL they do about it? I agree, probably nothing.
If there is no rules in play at this time doesnt mean CCP cant implement new rules to the EULA whenever they want. Its their game, not ours.

I don't have the explicit "legal right" to jump up and down while farting. Yet I can do so freely, without any threat of arrest or fine. It wouldn't be illegal to safeguard DUST against the use of turbo controllers and/or macros. No one at CCP would get arrested if weapons jammed when oversampled or fired with super-human cadence.

Well maybe, and i know its unlikely so just save the backtalk, just maybe if enough of us complain and b!tch about it enough they might(however doubtful) listen.

Legal right? The **** are you talking about. This is CCPs game so if they wanted to, and had a way to detect modded controllers, they could put a stop to the use of Modded Controllers with or without any blessing from the law. Think about it; do you actually believe anybody would get away with suing CCP for implementing a means to ban the use of Modded Controllers? |

No games block the use of modded controllers, the developpers only block the RoF of weapons careful so that they dont change anything.
Don't know if you guys remember the story, but sony once tried to "punish" people who were cracking/jailbreaking/whatever their ps3. They got mass attacked by Anonymous because they were violating the right of doing whatever you want with the hardware you buy.
I believe it's the same thing with modded controllers. They are legal and useable freely.

Always funny to see people defend performance enhancers, some people even admit to using them and then go on to brag about how good and elite they are. Funny indeed.

Yeah, and what did that accomplish? Nothing. At this point Anon might as well be considered a false flag because they do far more harm than good.

There is very little CCP can actually do. its not an illegal program the controllers use or anything, it just presses a button really fast by itself in the controllers circuitry. Unless CCP make dust only work with an officially licensed CCP controller and no other usb/wireless controller then there isn't anythign they can do. its hard to figure out wether a rapid fire mod button is being used or not simply because of lag.
i had chance to use a rapid fire controller bout 18months or so ago and went into faction. shot my buddy with it on and off and because of the lag on his end he died just as quickly each time. So when someone you think fired their weapon a little too fast, it could just be the ping delay catching up. Sure a lot of guys will use them on burst and CR's but they do still jump around a fire bit (i hammered button as fast as possible last night to test kick of the new burst on galass) and tbh the only real benefit you get is less cramp in your trigger finger

Current alternatives for modding make blocking this activity totally impossible. We are not talking about the old days of a turbo switch with set timing.

Not true. What they can do is set a program that notices unhuman firing rhythms and alert proper people inside CCP, who can then dish out apprpriate disciplinary actions upon those players to curb the use of such devices.

I mean granted CCP alot of us just have gotten so many skill points, and are so skilled that we can body the modded users. However, if you want the playerbase to grow get rid of this bs! Any macros, glitches, modded controllers, programs, etc. That titan one bs is just disrespectful.

I've seen modded controllers countless time, and to all the people who say "prove it" it's a dead give away. For example the duvolle tactical ar, I know when people are spamming the **** out of the fire button, the shots won't always sound directly one after another, but the modded controller, will make the gun like a lazer. People who haven't seen this, you guys are lucky. But I know almost every 3rd match there is always one guy using is. It annoys me that they can come down to this level. And people are like it's illegal to stop players from modding our game systems. And no. Most games already have a system to detect that ****. But dust is part of the many few that don't. CCP create a system that detects ROF errors in weapons! Than they get banned, simple as that!! |
