The problem is not about developing a program that detects modded controller as it's pretty easy to do. I just don't think they have the right to stop people from playing with a different hardware. It's illegal to use a software that will modify values in the game, but a hardware that brings those values to their maximum level (by virtually pressing buttons really fast) is allowed. Thus, they don't have the legal right to block them (even if it's BS I grant you that).
What CAN they do about it? Well, actually anything they want. As you said its a simple program to develop. What WILL they do about it? I agree, probably nothing.
If there is no rules in play at this time doesnt mean CCP cant implement new rules to the EULA whenever they want. Its their game, not ours.

Jared Fogle wrote:They haven't implemented anything since day 1 to fight modded controllers. What makes you think they are going to now? Becuz you asked for it, I'm sure it will be done. Besides ratatitties is on touch with the community. That's why we're able to trade quafe weapons now. Right.
Well maybe, and i know its unlikely so just save the backtalk, just maybe if enough of us complain and b!tch about it enough they might(however doubtful) listen.

Shart Machine wrote:Is there a rule that the developers have against using the "turbo" controllers, or are you trying to say they need to implement one?
If there isnt one already they ahould develop one. If ther is one they need to find a way of enforcing it.

Nirwanda Vaughns wrote:There is very little CCP can actually do. its not an illegal program the controllers use or anything, it just presses a button really fast by itself in the controllers circuitry. Unless CCP make dust only work with an officially licensed CCP controller and no other usb/wireless controller then there isn't anythign they can do. its hard to figure out wether a rapid fire mod button is being used or not simply because of lag.
i had chance to use a rapid fire controller bout 18months or so ago and went into faction. shot my buddy with it on and off and because of the lag on his end he died just as quickly each time. So when someone you think fired their weapon a little too fast, it could just be the ping delay catching up. Sure a lot of guys will use them on burst and CR's but they do still jump around a fire bit (i hammered button as fast as possible last night to test kick of the new burst on galass) and tbh the only real benefit you get is less cramp in your trigger finger
Not true. What they can do is set a program that notices unhuman firing rhythms and alert proper people inside CCP, who can then dish out apprpriate disciplinary actions upon those players to curb the use of such devices.

They would have to be very sure of themselves. Any doubt at all would mean they couldn't pursue the alleged infringement. In fact, even if there is no doubt, they probably still wouldn't pursue it because they couldn't know for sure.
Actually, when you sign the EULA agreement you give up all rights and agree to thier assesments. If they believe its happening you are held guilty and there is no legal recourse for you.

Im also starting to wonder if these modded controllers are also adding to the lag problem. We all know the servers suck and all but ive also started noticing that just after they start shooting the lag goes nuts. Just a theory at this point, ill need more evidence to convince me.
