Meta Locked pubs // Officer KD padding rooms.
I really cannot agree, that even a sneak in a well fit bsc/adv suit getting below the Meta Lock.. is somehow worse for gameplay than a full proto suit, no limitation on modules/officer gear.. Can someone explain this to me ???
It's an issue that has been discussed a lot.. each time the argument is brought up "someone will exploit it"
I am not saying you are wrong ^^ just a bit naive to what goes on in Dust gameplay.. From beta til now, sure there is a skill difference between players ability.. but nothing has caused more of a seperation in players than those who can spam proto and those who can't fit a dropsuit, it may surprise some of you to know.. but camping in a maxed out dropsuit, doing everything to avoid death while farming kills is nothing near "skill" it is just making the most out of a bad system.. and more importantly, making a profit from a bad system.... Are we really content to leave it this way ??
A small enough playerbase is left, and when in a match, the first 2 on leaderboard have farmed 80% of the total kills because they are abusing a proto advantage vs new players.. isn't really going to retain many... and lets look at battle population.. which has more activity.. high MU / low MU, comparing the search times from alts, high MU is LESS active.. so by allowing KD padders to farm the majority of those that play is not making any sense to me... just maybe , you know, for once in 2 bloody years CCP could do something about the fact that, those that get the most out of the game are the same mercs exploiting any advantage they can get over others via gear / game mechanics...
I could rant more, but it's all been said by someone already...
What does the toxic forum community think ??? (keep the current standard to benefit ourselves // make a change to affect gameplay for all)

Anyone with a brain understands it can not and will not work that way. No, because those brainboxes are so right all the time??? You people are talikng like Meta locks would make battles worse........ lol THEY DO MAKE BATTLES WORSE. Newbies get stomped just as hard by squads and SP bonuses. Payouts go even more down the toilet. Player base becomes so divided that it takes a stupid amount of time to get a battle unless you are searching that one thing most people are playing.

Proto and officer provides a significant advantage, regardless of how well a group of veterans could stomp in standard gear.
Payouts can be adjusted.
Why would it further divide the player base? |

If there are meta level locks do you not have to pick a meta you want to play?
Are you saying all higher level suits are just going to be blocked from all pub contracts? If that is the case it pushes people more to FW which is great for FW but not good for pubs. It is already hard to get anything outside of dom in a reasonable amount of time.
Payouts are all based on destroyed isk so there is no real way to adjust. Higher time in battle pay means more reward for AFKing and anything else requires a rebuild.
The point is that stomping would not be stomped because that is a function of skill bonuses and more importantly squads.

At the moment match are one-sided due to people stupidity, they dont accept to fight and just back out or shoot each other on mcc, add to this that with a new alt on a new psn Account get in the same match that this 92 mil sp alt gets and you obtain that a dead game its keeping away new players from it. Metalevel lock? Yes though then those able to stomp militis gesr in officer will leave the game but wait....is it that bad? Yes if they buy aurum.

Good point about division of player base. Could possibly be partly remedied by merging game mode queues, I don't know.
Apart from that: of course payouts can be adjusted. Lower tier suits could be made to add a higher percentage of their price to the pot. It's not like this is real, physical world values. It's as simple as adding a multiplier based on meta to the calculation, where low meta gives a higher multiplier and high meta gives a lower.
As for stomping being based on skill bonuses and squads only: you're oversimplifying the calculation. Those things are definitely a part of it, but gear, personal controller-twiddling skills and clever movement strategies certainly plays a big part, too. By clever movement strategies, BTW, I'm referring to flanking, sneaking, avoidance etc, NOT wiggle-strafing. There's nothing clever about that. |

Giving suits a multiplier would just remove all hints of risk and reward.
TTK is already low, when you have a squad focusing fire it is nothing less than instant. This along with having extra people watching your back makes squads a massive multiplier.
Vets have extra shields, extra armor, and better module efficacy no matter the level.
Vets deal far more damage from any weapon thanks to proficiency skills and warbarges.
You point to gear but remember we are talking about meta locked gear. What this means is a newbie can not even grab AUR gear in an attempt to match the vet.
Flanking, sneaking, and avoidance are great hings to look at but remember they are quickly countered by more people watching and communicating locations as well as better ewar and most likely more scanning.
Higher level vets also have a significantly higher amount of versatility to mesh best with their squad.
Basically it does all pretty much come back to higher SP and squading up creates a very likely environment for vets to just keep right on stomping.

As a new player, the proto stomping is a daily part of Dust for me... And many others, i'm sure... I too have pondered on the huge gulf in skill levels & how to come to some sort of compromise that can't be abused by the more devious members of the community...
In the begging, it's just all too much and your suit & weapons, are just paper & plastic...
If CCP want to divide by meta & retain new players they need a - MILITIA MODE - to help get you started...
Nothing above level 2, Militia & Basic Only, No Squads, Tanks, Dropships, Warbarge Strikes, none of that stuff... LAVs only, so you get to learn about vehicles & how to deploy etc...
Just keep it simple... Keep the number of maps limited, so you get to know them quicker...
Suits and weapons would be almost identical. Just fittings choice would be the major difference... New players would also learn about each faction, their weapons, range & types etc, etc, etc...
By the time you have your suit & weapons to advanced, your about ready to get proto stomped anyway...
CCP could even put an SP cap on that mode. It couldn't be abused by vets (as they would have way more SP to even use the mode) & new players will eventually cap out and have to enter the big pond...
Without an even playing field to start out on, most/ if not all players, just think "f*ck this i'm going to play something that's at least fair..." I know I did. Twice in the first month, I thought, i'm just going to delete this game and find something else to play. Had the Warlords update not happened, I would not be playing or writing this now...
Anyway...
Whatever the outcome, I do agree something needs to be done to help the newest of new players...
-- Dust is not fair, in fact, I don't even think it like you... Heck, when you start, they give you a booster to 'not' play for 3 days. What kind of fuzzy logic is that?!...

In even fights with reasonably balanced teams the game is f**king good and it is possible for one man on a mission to change the outcome of the battle. (Stealthy links behind enemy lines, HMG drop squad from DS, sneaky remotes etc..)
Isn't that what we all want? Good fights? Its like the main bloody thing I play this game for.... GF`s = Fun = People spend more money on a hobby they like.
This is the turning point, the rising of the tide.

Meta Locks.. They would screw ewar and shield mods as they have much higher meta level than other modules. Apart from that vets would still stomp just not as hard I guess. I'd support new 'mode' in other contracts for example. Only militia and standard items without vehicles. Available to everybody. Vet in full mlt/basic would be easier to kill and survive against.
