Currently rank 1 as a new clone. I want to get into trading/buying/selling but need to attain rank 2. Does anyone know exactly what it takes to level up, besides the cryptic "logging in, fighting and buying aurum". As in, how much aurum do I have to buy to go up a rank?
Or rather what's the aurum purchased to Loyalty Rank points gained ratio? |

Wow I had no idea it was aurum spent. That's incredibly helpful. So a follow up question - I've been conserving my aur for awhile (week or two) and have about 5k. What is the best thing to spend it on? I don't want to buy gear or fittings that are expendable. Besides skins, what do people spend their aur on most commonly? |

A merc pack should easily take you to rank 2.
If you don't want to buy AUR, the rates of earning are:
Logging In Daily = 5 Loyalty Rank Points Fighting in a battle = 1 Loyalty Rank Point Winning the battle = +3 Loyalty Rank Points Every 500 WP earned in battle = +1 Loyalty Rank Point wow they really need to fix that, you're basically gaining nothing with how much you have to get, but then again I shouldn't complain I am lvl 10 hehehehe TBF loyalty ranks aren't really that great. I'm wholeheartedly against using them as a metric to unlock meaningful content without revamping them, though, because the only way to realistically attain higher ranks is to buy aurum. As an example, I believe Grand Master Kubo, a fellow who won 3 (IIRC) officer weapons through the events and who (last I checked) was somewhere in the top 10 for lifetime stats, is LR6/7. My memory is a little hazy on this, admittedly. I've never actually encountered a rank 15. I've seen a Field Marshal which I believe is rank 14, and I've talked with a Marshal which is 13, but at that stage the requirements for ranking up are just obscene. I did some calculations on this in another post. Arkena Wyrnspire wrote: It reportedly takes over 2 million loyalty rank points to reach rank 14.
This led me to perform some calculations.
It takes over 2 million points to reach level 14 from 13.
Fighting in a battle earns 1 loyalty rank point. Winning that battle earns you 3. 500 WP in that battle earns you 1.
Therefore, if every single match a newly minted LR13 player played from this point onwards was a win in which he scored 3000 WP (unlikely) it would take them 200,000 battles to reach the next rank.
200,000 battles. Two hundred thousand. If each of those was over very quickly, in 10 minutes (which is also highly unlikely as many matches take 20 or so), it would take 34,000 hours of playtime to reach the next rank.
That is completely preposterous. There is absolutely no way anybody could possibly meet those requirements through gameplay. Absolutely none. That's 1400 days (4 years) of sitting at the PS3 from downtime to downtime, never sleeping or eating except for 10 minute breaks through downtime.
Not only is it 1400 days of doing that, it's doing that with an absolutely extraordinary standard of performance.
THIS ISN'T EVEN THE HIGHEST RANK.
Chatting with people on Skype later led me to run some numbers on a slightly more realistic scenario. Arkena Wyrnspire wrote: Now, Cross volunteered himself on Skype as a victim, so we're going to calculate roughly how long it'd take him to reach LR14 from LR13 (which he isn't at yet). Cross suggests he might play 4 hours a day. So...
Managing 3 matches an hour with a 2:1 W/L ratio and a score of 1500 WP in every single match, it would take our good man Cross over 90 years to reach this point.
To reach LR14 (not the highest rank) he would need to become the oldest man who ever lived, whilst managing 4 hours of DUST a day, every day, at a good level of performance, for almost a century. This assumes that even as he ails and begins to die, he is still playing DUST to a solid level of performance for 4 hours a day.
On the bright side, if he has a priest reading Genesis 3:19 at his funeral, it will take on a very special meaning indeed.
"For dust you are, and to dust, you will return."
Holy ******* hell.

Thanks for the answers! Those loyalty rank time frames are mind blowing!!
I think I'll consider getting a small amount, or at least enough to boost me to rank 2. I am most interested in skins, but bpos intrigue me. Where is the best place to check these out, other than the militia bpo section? Is there something that changes what available bpos are out? All I can find are militia bpos.
Checked out the skins on market... every race has a medium skin for 19,800 aur or at least 1 medium skin for that amount. The gallente medium skins are all 23,800. In addition, there are only gallente scout suits in the drop suit section of visual customisation.
Why is GA not equal with the others in terms of price and availability? Does the selection change often? I'm confused.
Also when you buy one of those loadouts for 50k aur, is it permanent or just 1 fitting? |

And is there any other place to buy skins? The GalMedium skins are pretty subpar compared to the others. Makes me kinda regret going GA what with the AR status (change incoming soonTM), lack of skin selection, quality of skin selection and scanners as the bonus for logi. |

If you mean the 50 AUR prefit suits, no, those are single use and also pretty terrible, IMHO.
I'm not sure why Gal skins are more expensive. Strange and arcane reasonings, vOv.
I think the main source of BPOs for AUR in the marketplace is indeed the militia area. IIRC there are still some available in the standard dropsuits section as well, though. Quafe BPOs, which come in obnoxious pink and green, can be found in strongboxes and are standard tier.
It's amusing to me that you dislike the scanner bonus on the logi because scouts scream bloody murder about it and desperately want it nerfed.
The Galassault and AR will shortly become very strong indeed, so I wouldn't worry about that. If you want to betray me ;_; really regret your choice, though, respecs cost just under 40k AUR, which I think is affordable with a merc pack. When you're new it's probably better to just buy boosters instead and spec into the new stuff, though.
In general CCP's monetisation options are sorta lacking. If you're going to play semi-regularly I think boosters may be your best bet at your level.
Once BPO trading comes in, though, I'll see if I can send you an Exile AR (standard AR blueprint) and a couple of other things, but that hinges on me being at home at some point soon which is unlikely.
Ahhh OK the Apex being permanent makes a lot more sense. I understand the nature of the scanner right now, it just doesn't earn me points, which I desperately need every game or its not worth playing. I have adv. suits, adv. gear, and adv. weapons so my fits are getting expensive. If I don't break 1k WP I'm pretty much losing isk/wasting time.
Running links and nanohives allow me to break 2k almost every game, unless it's a stomp. Ive used scanners, and rarely gotten the points from my scans. Even if I go scanner logi spam. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...
Nah, playing the "underdog" race right now makes me want to be Gal even more. I'm a loyalist, don't fear! |

If you have a scanned target and a squadmate kills it, it gets you "Intel Kill Assist +15". This can stack up quickly with assists and guardian points if you're running support for a squad with a defend order on you.
And bless you sir. Out of curiosity, do you have Skype? I and a good few other folks gather there for text chat.
I do! I'm down to lurk and ask noob questions!
I've never used the scanner in a full or cohesive squad. It makes sense if you guys are sticking together and stompin. I have some loadouts scanner ready, but as of right now I'm using all the prefit loadouts I've been awarded or found in boxes to try and get my isk up.
Oooo an AR bpo that isn't militia makes me drool. *droools* |

Larkson Crazy Eye wrote:Leovarian L Lavitz wrote:Those numbers are skewed now that you get free aurum for just logging in every day. Recalculate, nao
No it's not. I'm surprised I didn't see this brought up yet in the thread but you no longer get Loyalty points for using your aurum, it's when you buy it. The free aurum you get daily, and threw events like right now doesn't raise your rank at all. I just spent 5k aurum on a 7 day booster on one my newer accounts I use to test things out on. That character is still rank zero with 200 points to go to rank 1. As for earnings it's not 100% accurate, or it's just bugged. If you join a match you don't automatically gain 1 loyalty point, nor do you automatically gain 2 for winning. I tested it out and sat back in the spawn point doing nothing, ending the match with zero WP. My team won and I got no points at all. Nothing for joining a match and nothing for the team winning. I also tested out matches were I earned 300-400wp and got nothing for the effort. So joining a match and/or winning doesn't really seem to matter. It's just every 500 wp you earn life time far a I can tell. You do earn points for fractions of 500, if it adds up to 500 over several different matches. I've also ran into a bug in where my account lost over 600 earned loyalty points for no reason. One day I was less than 100 from the next level and then suddenly every character on that account was 600 some points back. Given it's a mere 5 points a day for logging in and a small 1-5 points on average for playing a match. That was countless hours and/or days worth of work lost because of some glitch. A glitch I reported and made a thread about that people replied to but nothing official was done or commented on about it.
Sounds like a jank ass loyalty system. No standard for metrics and many changes/bugs over time with no official stance from ccp.

Wow, thank you so much. I've almost hit 5mil sp, used some left over aur from buying my Roden GA-M skin, which I freaking love, to use instant sp boosters from some great games. Played a pub with my roomate and had a 4500 pt game holding down the point with only our links and nanohives, and revives.
I started using the adv. Burst AR and I LOVE it. By far my favorite variant, has got me back in the slaygroove. And I started running the adv. Medium basic GA suit with 2 slots. Uplink and nanohive have been my most successful games. I hold points supporting my links, mid range sniping with the burst AR. Best games I've had in awhile.
After my skin purchase, I am almost loyalty rank 3. It got me trading so it was worth it. Gave my buddy my Deathshroud skin cause he couldn't get his wins and he's amarr. My gallente passion has been ignited again! |

I told you the Burst was awesome. :3
Thanks! I surprise myself sometime. If my team spawns on my links, I can pretty much keep any point battle alive.
And yes, definitely try out the burst. It's won me back over as an AR lover and gallente loyalist! |
