The only real complaint I have against core grenades is that they seem to be the only explosive weapon to really get a bonus from head shots. I shoot a lot of assault mass drivers and I've never gotten a headshot against some one ever. Not with a direct hit or the explosive dmg being from an impact on the roof above them. Some times I might hear the 'gong sound' you get for head shots but I never get the +60 bonus for a kill.
In comparison all a core has to do is explode in the air above some one and it's an instant head shot, with a pretty hefty multiplier with just how much HP it can take away in one shot.

ROMULUS H3X wrote:Is everyone overlooking the fact that when you get fragged by a merc it tells you the TOTAL DAMAGE THEY DID OVER THAT ENTIRE CLONES LIFETIME FROM THAT ONE MERC.
Basically you got shot up, you backed into an area where they can't hit with a direct shot.
THEN the enemy hits you with a nade and you see 1100dmg.
That is the COMBINED amount of damage from the gunfire AND grenade...
Sheesh.... HAVN'T WE BEEN OVER THE DEATH SCREEN *OMG HE DID OP DAMAGE* THING ENOUGH TIMES BY NOW????!!!
The death report doesn't show you how much damage was done by the last thing that hit you.... otherwise when you get killed by a RIFLE it would be saying damage dealt < 100 damage... and you be like..... I HAVE MORE eHP THAN THAT WHAT THE FUZZ?!!
That excuse doesn't solve all the problems. Many a time you go from absolute full hp to dead with that kind of dmg screen. it's not oh I was getting shot for a bit then poof 1000dmg from X player. It's I was full and boom I'm dead with that much dmg. Unless two core grenades from the same player went off at the same time that screen doesn't make a lot of sense.

Just have to love your insulting methods of trying to win an argument. It really makes one feel like your completely impartial to the topic. Honestly that 'ooh you took dmg from other things some time, some where' excuse doesn't really fly. You don't see yourself taking 1000 dmg from a smg very often. I have died and the kill feed said 17 dmg from an assault rifle.
I know I obviously took more dmg than that to die from other sources but it didn't add them up for that death. Something is wrong with core grenades and no one who uses them on a regular basis wants to admit it. I am not saying they shouldn't be deadly, but admit it and don't try and cover it up by saying they do less dmg then they really do.

I never understood the argument that grenade are dangerous in real life, they should one shot kill you in a game where every other weapon in the game pretty much doesn't. Sure you have the large rail gun, plasma cannon and the forge gun can one shot kill most drop suites. On the other hand a sniper riffle bullet to the head is a mere scratch to quite a few suites and even large caliber rounds from a blaster turret take several shots to kill.
Mass drivers are another explosive based weapons. IN real life a grenade launcher will tear you up if it blows up near you. In Dust most suites can take 3-8 shots from the thing before they die depending on their builds and whether it's an assault variant or standard. Even if it explodes right above your head you don't take any extra dmg.
So no I don't think 'realism' applying to just one weapon is a valid excuse to make core grenades as deadly as they are.
