Factional battles and spawning is why I'm writing this message. This is the third time the same person has killed me at the beginning of battle while I wait for my tank. I spawned the wrong tank at the start and backed out of the spawn area to hop out and call in the proper tank. While I wait for the drop off I started to recall my the 1st tank I was in and this guy kills me from behind, so now I have 2 tanks sitting on the ground and I have been killed by my own team member to boot. The guy steals one of the tanks and runs into battle with my own tank.
All of the previous matches that he's done this in he's gotten my tank close to the end of battle and driven it into the redline somewhere as I have a missing tank at the end of battle. Knowing this I went about to destroy my own tank, tank down and still in the battle. He spawns on the map not in the redline and goes about to call in a new tank and parks it facing our redline to fire at me then ram my tank to death. I fire back and after a few shots and destroying my own tank I get kicked from battle for doing to much friendly damage. Rightly so. The first 2 times he did this to me like I said I didn't retaliate. But still lost my assets, this is why I retaliated this time. Something should be done about this tank stealing behaviour, some kind of punishment should be set up. The other idea that might work is that during factional battles 1 Being beyond the red line turns friendly fire off so that tank stealing would no longer be an issue. 2 There is a thread about tank spawning that says that we should be able to drop in in the tank in our redline from the start menu instead of spawning then calling in, besides don't the assets and clones come from the mcc? 3 making the vehicles actually have a real working squad lock that your squad leader can switch off and on. In the case that your taking 2 squads in and you know every one on the team or for Planetary Conquest you could turn it off. The default squad setting should be locked doors by default for when people want to solo play. 4 a reporting system that checks battle reports and punishes the players committing these offences, after all there are not too many good tankers out there and even fewer people penniless enough to need steal tanks.
I don't know if its revenge that drives him to steal tanks or just to see what others use in them. A third thieft leads me to believe this person is butt hurt and wants to see what I run to ruin his proto tanks while I.m running a lowly basic tank not a militia, C=I class tank. Either way tank stealing should be punished and not by me destroying my own stuff and getting kicked from battle. Being killed at the beginning of battle by my own butt hurt teammate who then proceeds to directly steal my assets sucks and is very unsportsman like. Maybe after reporting it and battle report confirmation his wallet would get deducted and I'd have my assets back in my inventory, Kind of like a payment he didn't agree to after all I didn't agree to give him a free tank? |

I wonder Ben are you also a team killing tank thief? I shoulden't have to worry about some butt hurt team mate chasing me back beyond the spawn point in our own redline. It would be nice to have a punishment option in vehicles to punish a vehicle thief. Any one that's not your squad mate gets kicked from the vehicle and the doors are locked. It would be like reactivating the initial squad door locks that's on the vehicle when its spawned. If a squad member sees your tank comes rolling up, she/he gets in, now pop the lock so she/he can bring it back. In the case of a drop ship an eject and return to base would be nice, if you called it in the redline at one of the base zones. Call it a type of auto pilot. |

On the note of team sabatoge I wonder why you get kicked from matches from either killing your own teammates or doing to much friendly damage. With this said I believe the team sabatoge idea is moot as you get kicked from battle for it. Same note "YOU ARE A MERC" being paid for a contract to fight the enemy, woulden't it be a great move if you didn't get paid at all if you do friendly damage and not find out until the end of the match. I see it as don't kick him let them keep being dicks on their own dollar, why would anyone pay someone for not doing the work they were contracted to do.
I've been tanking from the beginning of dust, so I do know the plight of vehicles from the start. Back when they reset dropsuit SP I spent all of it towards vehicles, at the time there wasn't a skill reset option in game. The only dropsuit in my list were blueprint suits with blueprint modules just to ride the tank.
The refrence to being a redline tank is offensive as its probably one of those people who get smoked by my basic, blueprint loaded, basic blaster tank that goes to your redline to wreck your proto tank. Not to mention killing reds along the way to my target.
With all level 5 skills in tanking excluding only extra ammo (pointless unless your using a missile turret) and rotation (who needs max rotation unless you suck and can't remember your targets direction when she/he runs you over with the ram technique).
There is no need to destroy supply depots unless your supposed #1 players suck so bad they can't take the depot back from the reds who are killing them with hand guns as they are holding forge guns and swarm launchers. Now I see no valid excuse for not being able to kill a commando holding a swarm launcher, he's only got 1 light weapon and the reason of "he's got 2 full light weapon clips to fire at me" is no longer valid, now if he gets close enough to kill you with a melee from the swarm launcher it may be time to play something other than a FPS.
I don't waste my time destroying CRU's unless my tean totally sucks and I want to slow down the reds spawn timer and I get my 50 points (Joke points for something that takes too much ammo and time to destroy thats why its pointless). I only do this after I have ran out with 3 tanks and lost them at the cost of a little less than 100k (blueprint tank parts save cost) a tank. I compare the cost equal to around the cost of 2 loaded proto suits. I have done my job at this point, 1 gotten reds into suits that have av grenades and anti-vehicle main weapons. 2 dragged a part of the team back to their side of the map for them to help thier own teams tank to down me. 3 taken out any blaster turrets blocking infantry advancement. 4 gone to the objective(s) and removed any of the droplinks I can find. 5 drop my own uplinks outside of reds scanner range to allow my blues to advance from a different direction (yes they are Vizam Flux links to get as many out as fast as possible for the least cost, yes the uplink does fall under my cost for a tank). After these 5 steps the blues don't get their lazy asses off our redline I switch to a rail tank eat the loss on my 250-300k and make points safely from the redline where the lazy blues can get caught first. Some matches the reds don't have enough fire power to down my tank and then not care about me to just get kills from the rookie players on my team. I down a few turrets freely then roll up on the reds at my redline for a good old fasioned turkey shoot. when they retreat for anti vehicle weapons O go back to their redline and wait to see if someones gonna let me wreck them in a tank.
Yess I am that ******* tanker waiting at your redline to wreck your stuff before it even gets past your redline, I don't wreck droping tanks, takes too much ammo and I'd rather have fun in a fair fight with another tanker. The funnest is when someone trys a proto setup agains my basic setup and they can't get the upper hand I usually just toy with them like a cat with a mouse before I lay waste to their tank. Lavs on the other hand can be made into suicide lavs and don't require that much ammo, pop easy 40 points.
This is not thread about or for infantry, its a VEHICLE thread, not for whining about redline tankers. I do my part to help the infantry either with 2 spare leather seats and a CRU, or speedy uplinks if I don't have an onboard CRU.
It is a tread about FW vehicle thieft and or door locks or the lack of locking ability.

Thank you Dovallis, eve players shoulden't be comparing their ships to tanks or vehicles unless the same call in/drop off features are used. It would be different if eve pilots had to call in ships to open space and shuttle to it to claim it when showing up to battle. the complain would go a little like this maybe "I called in a new ship and these pirates on my own team destroyed my shuttle before I could get to the ship and now they are riding around in my ship and before the battle ended they crashed it into the closest planet, aww my ship." I do believe you show up to battle in your ship right, we deploy to battle ready in our clones why can't we deploy/show up to battle in our vehicles. In dust vehicles do receive a diminish in some stats when the driver is not the owner. This also making the vehicle less survivable on the battle field, but this doesn't matter in the case that she/he is going to drive it to a redline and let it get destroyed.
Now being able to afford the items I lose wasn't what the thread is about if you can't read or understand the thread topic I suggest getting a thesaurus to help you understand the concept of team theift.
I do seem to like the idea of being able to steal your dropsuit if you are 1 just spawning and I see your shadow and step into it or 2 if your stupid enough to stand at a supply depot with out back up, again I could just shoot you in the back and select a free suit to use out of your assets. (sounds pretty stupid right) A god option would be to have an option in the vehicles that if your tank is being driven by someone other than you, you'd be able to use the new option to take payment from their wallet for the cost of the Vehicle. Some people use aurum parts on their vehicles and we get paid daily aurum that would pay these costs. |
