If any of the devs can answer this, it will be appreciated......either way, would like to know what the community feels is fair.
I am not anticipating a ps4 port for Dust 514, even if they changed the name. But if Dust was moved to ps4 or recreated under a different name on the ps4, would it be a total character and corp wipe?
Not sure if it would be fair.....I know I'd be disappointed from all of the grind that I put in. Would you guys be disappointed? Indifferent? Would you start over?

What sort of "something" would satisfy you? Cause a total wipe of ISK and sp is everything :). Unless, maybe if you're allowed to keep your bpos?

I would almost expect that SP and ISK would be wiped to be honest. Yea things like bpos, FW ranks and loyalty ranks or at least a system that transfers our old bpos into new game blueprint stuff.

I'll be honest, if nothing comes from all this time, effort and money spent it will be a little crushing. I do hope we see Legion or Dust as it was originally intended on a new platform. And yes I really hope all we've worked for can transfer.

I guess if I could keep my bpos, loyalty ranks....it would soften the blow. But damn man...seriously grinding sp again would be a ***** and a half. Well, maybe not if they keep the 750K sp cap and ability to stack boosters.

I can tell you that I would not even bother buying a PS4 if they said that. I have simply invested too much money in this game based on the promises that it will be long standing. Starting over is not even close to an option.
CCP deciding to start over would just be saying we screwed up last time around and you got to pay for it. We know they screwed the pooch in general but we are not the ones that should be shouldering that burden. Much of the money spent on Dust pre fanfest 14 statements and deciding to not even attempt to honor those because they messed up so badly would be the greatest breach of confidence a gaming company has ever perpetrated.

Honestly I can't see how they can keep characters, isk and such as they are and not screw up the new game without horrible balance issues to any new blood they want to draw in. Not unless they up skill gain, isk etc even more to make what ever we have nearly worthless. 5mil SP a week cap, 250k SP per battle or something insane like that.
Which is pretty much what they did before when they doubled the weekly cap and introduced daily mission rewards imo. I hit the weekly/daily cap every day for pretty much the first year, back then 5-10 mil Sp was huge. Now you can probably get that in a month if you use boosters, ones you can buy with in game isk instead of real world money with player trading.
That said if CCP basically wipes everything and starts over imo that means the new game would have to stand on it's own to be worth my time. Never mind investing money into the new game, even if it's free I don't think I'd play it if it's basically just the current Dust with a graphic over haul. We kind of got sucked into the promises of the future with Dust since day one and I'd be weary of putting to much faith in a new game that didn't deliver from day one.

I always imagined that a port could work if the returning vets had their SP on ice for about 6-12 months to give the new guys a chance and after that the flood gates would be opened.

Not sure if it would be fair.....I know I'd be disappointed from all of the grind that I put in. Would you guys be disappointed? Indifferent? Would you start over? This is how it'll likely work:
Legion turns into a PS4 port, you keep your BPO assets and total AUR spent is returned to you - but your SP and ISK will be wiped.
They'll likely 'reward' returning players with several million SP and vanity items, but they'll want the market set back to square one so they can take another look at the risk vs reward that is completely gone from this game.

Basically this ^
The current SP system indeed has its flaws and would probably be better if is reworked in case of a port / next evolution / whetever. I would expect some kind of "Trophy" for being a Dust514 player or the ability to keep BPOs, but sincerly I wouldn't expect more than that.
If they're making a new game, they'd better try to catch the interest of a much wider pool of players, and no one likes when someone else at the very beginning of a new game has an head-start of millions of SPs. |

You got guys almost 3 years in this game, with some players putting hundreds, if not thousands of dollars into dust. Everything would need to be transferred over. I mean if they can do it for GTA Online and Destiny, no excuse and no other option but to give players everything that they've earned on the next gen.

That being said, veterans who migrate with a port need to be given some goodies if they have their progression wiped. Boosters, SKINs, unique forum avatars, 'Founder' title or merc quarters decoration, sackful of aurum, or D.) All of the above.

Wiping sp and isk just for the sake of a level playing field for potential new players is moronic. Eventually (even with a complete wipe) you will have a huge discrepancy in sp/isk between many players.

I personally would be happy with just a skin to show the Dust Vets.
Maybe they can twist it into "Veterans from the DUST project have shown to be remarkably intuitive to the LEIGION project. They learn and adapt far quicker than the average mercenary" and throw us a month long active booster or something.
I don't want to keep my assets or SP, as nice as it would be. We don't need another leg up on the newer players, experience should honestly be enough.

Not sure if it would be fair.....I know I'd be disappointed from all of the grind that I put in. Would you guys be disappointed? Indifferent? Would you start over? After the the community backlash from the Project Legion announcement, CCP were very clear and explicit that if Project Legion went live our characters would be ported. I am certain that this holds true for any port or remake of DUST on another platform.
As for Corps, they exist in EVE as well as DUST. My EVE character is the CEO of my Corp. So Corps should persist as well.

I would be fine with SP and ISK not being worth as much in the new version as they are on the PS3, but a complete wipe would make me feel like the years I spend playing DUST were a complete waste of time!
My number one reason for playing DUST instead of any other FPS is persistence. I want to know that my character will still exist in ten years.

I've given some thought to this, as most of us have at some point and this would be my preferred option should it happen. I will first say that this not to be construed as confirmation of anything happening, conversations that have taken place etc etc...
First of all I don't think there should be a straight transfer of absolutely everything. There have been a number of past design decisions made in the past that have had profound impact on the games progression. The chance to correct some of them with any port that may come should be taken.
The first one being the amount of passive ISK generation that the first version of PC created. This has also been made more complicated by the use of BPO and the difference in payouts from destroyed equipment that they've effected. This has created a glut of ISK that is funding the heavy use of proto level gear. Proto use was supposed to be an ISK sink and used sparingly but the billions of ISK that PC 1.0 created has means that that particular design feature has been made moot.
So if all the ISK was removed from the game it would be a chance to slowly build up the economy, in a more controlled and considered manner that may hopefully lead to a economic link in New Eden (But that link is a long way into the future, if at all). If all my ISK disappeared, I'd care not. I'd soon build it up again.
SP is slightly different because of the use of Boosters many have had. But I do also think that for the sake of new players joining a port, fresh on a new format, that SP should be zeroed. However, there of course should be some recompense for that AUR investment.
So how I would do it is like this. Using myself as an example I've got 71 million SP in total. A lot of that is from booster use. But the passive generation of SP that I have is a fixed amount based on the age of my Merc. There was a zeroing of the SP of all mercs in the closed beta on the 10th January 2013. So as of writing this, my Merc has been gaining passive ISK for 982 days.
1 SP is gained every 4 seconds, the total every 24 hours is 21,900.
So 21,211,200 of my Total SP is purely passive, I gained it playing the game or not. But just under 51m of my total is the result of boosters. Its that amount that I feel that I should get some recognition from CCP.
So if my SP was zeroed I want 50 million SP's worth of 30 day passive boosters credited to my account and able to be stacked so as I gain the SP advantage I have over a newer player but at a level that is not unachievable by them should they wish buy boosters themselves. I think that is fair.
All AUR items should be transferred to a new account or the total AUR value be refunded. However has many of the AUR items are gained from strongbox opening and the total AUR value of those items can be less or more than the purchase value of the key paid to open it (the free keys from mission complicating it even further) it is likely to be less of a hassle to just transfer all the items.
SKINS and officer weapons/suits should also be transferred. People have paid AUR to buy the components needed to produce those And again this would just be simpler.
BPO suits will be split in due course like the Quafe BPO suits already have. So again the Skins should be transferred and the standard frame BPO as well. These of course should be tradeable in the port so as create more ISK sinks in a zeroed ecomomy
BPO weapons both from the Strongboxes and special packs like the Veteran pack should also be transferred including the BPO LAV's. The LAV's should also be tradeable as another ISK sink.
Any other BPO in the game, that was purchased from the marketplace such as Militia AR BPO should be refunded. Once those BPO from the Strongboxes and Special Packs are made tradeable there will be a healthy trade in those, providing another ISK sink.
The transfer of assets to a new format is important but equally as important is the chance to 'retcon' some elements of the game that are proving problematic, ISK being the prime one.
But if and when this happens you can be sure that its going to be a focus of debate between the Community, the CPM and CCP.

In our Character Stats, allow us to have a special tag that says, "Dust 514 veteran", or something like that. BPOS and Aurum should be ported.
Kevall's idea is sound to me. You get your boosters back and the new player can buy boosters just as you have for years.
