I played with CPM Cross Atu the other day, and he informed us that the 6-man squads were actually interfering with the matchmaking logic.

We are not talking about gameplay tactics, nothing against japs in FW or PC, but i would like to play pubs with most of the people who reg hits regularly.

What do you think about those fw we play in the evening? about those squads in skirm/ dom? You never see me playing in squads because I always play with em in the evening, while in the afternoon I play with other people (Abyss of Universe, Resistance Chimera).

Simple math threw wrench into matchmaking logic. Think about it for a second.
Under 6-Man Squads:
-Team of 16 players.
-Can only bring 2 squads of 6 players each.
-Room for 4 more players left.
-If another full squad joined the same match, 2 of their players cannot join the match and get bumped out.
-Higher chance of players being bumped out.
Under 4-Man fireteams, 8-Man squads, 16-Man platoons:
-Team of 16 players.
-Can finally bring 4 full fireteams.
-Can bring 2 full squads for FW.
-Effective team deploy with a full platoon in PC.
-Less chance of players being bumped out.
Believe it or not, squads use to be 4 players back in the early days of closed beta. It was expanded to 6 players later on because everyone was expecting team sizes to increase as well. But CCP suffered a lot of development setbacks later on and the increase in team size never came. That was under a different Executive Producer.

Theoretically, crappy blues should appear more often in the Low Mu queue than the High Mu queue. Either way, a system which serves evenly weighted teams is our best bet at better quality battles.

For the most part the match making bit makes sense. After all if everyone made full squads of 6 like all the vets purpose, no one would ever get into a match. After all 6 does not go into 16 evenly. It required at least some partially full squads or solo players to make a team. Not that I am a huge fan of the new system but 4, 18 and 16 all go into 16 evenly. Plus it helped slightly fix the problem with people joining mid match. When squads of six would join as one group it would devastate the other teams chances of winning.
Not only is the squad of six possibly well organized and willing to work together, but it's 6 people that just joined a match making the teams very uneven in most cases. This lead to 10vs 16 or worse matches.

Two reasons. solo players complained was probably the main one. You have no idea how many solo cry babies cheered on the forums when 6 man squads got nerved.
fixing matchmaking was next, but failed on miserably. I explain: This idea was more small squads means a bigger pool of players. what happened is that almost every group of vet players switched to fw to keep their circle of friends that they've played with for years. That left a tiny pool of 4 man squads who are stuck with either dom or ambush with mostly new players because the pool has shrunk tremendously. that's why fw are mostly 16 vs 16 and pubs are 8 vs 14 or lopsided like crazy. Both in terms of player count per team and skill level.
solo scrubs will still defend it though. I don't really understand why, 4 v 1 has the same outcome as 6 v 1 or 8 v 1.

Someone has to put extra work in, seeing as some teammates.. no idea who (I think he made some posts recently)
Just spam equpiment, manage 0 kills, do nothing to control an objective.. then they complain about the teams 
And better yet, faced with a tough match, they back out and screw both teams \o/
Most DMG will attack a team of stompers as much as they will attack a team of random's.
We don't check the scoreboard to know if we should quit in advance like some of you do... a lot.

In the morning, I sleep. In the afternoon, I play with abyss of universe (and we lose games so its not hiding), in the evening I can finally play with my corp. I did not leave Mithril Forge but I have been kicked because I won against them with a squad of T.H.I.R.D R.O.C.K . I have never seen a squad of dmg carrying a game... I dont carry games and I'm not carried in games. I try to do whats most useful in a game. Try to compensate what blueberries don't do. Thank you for confirming my dmg theory.

Maybe I was better in MF but I didnt really care about dust. Now I dont care about what people think about me. Since shaman dude was being arrogant, and I don't want to talk about personal stuff, the only way I could keep the conversation/flame going was talking about his corp. I really enjoy flames. Plus, I know the tag doesn't count. I'm talking about the corp, not the tag. I am proud of my corp not proud of my tag

3.there were some issues but since the change to squad sizes that issue has been cemented in place. It's gotten worse not better.
4. its not a contradiction. In pubs noobs are paired off against my squad. Scotty is making up the numbers because any group of 5 or more vets has to play fw. Most pools of vets I should be fighting are in fw because 5 friends are on and want to play dust.. any vets that run pubs are facing lower Sp players.
