It's not like you could just slap a Russian tank turret on an American tank, and they're at least made on the same planet. Because we use modular systems. Additionally, you probably could (with sufficient knowledge, effort, and modification) put certain Russian turrets on certain American tanks.

I do that anyway. I only use doctrine setups. Hybrid weapons ( except for the bolt pistol, I have to much self respect to use it), Gallente vehicles and drop suits, primarily tank with a focus on speed and regeneration, etc.

Well more to the point since the Gallente invented Railgun based technology and saw it adopted by the Caldari I think we can safely say that they have a relatively good understanding of how to apply railgun based weaponry on the battlefield.
Additionally all races use or have developed missile technologies throughout their racial histories, while the Gallente use missile least often favouring drones instead they still can make use of them.

All AR variants need a scope and RR variants need kick reduced by half. That should help both. |

It may or may not be what he meant but I feel like what he is saying is that none of the races even have a good enough selection in weapons to consider this.
If that is the case then I think he makes the most logical point to exactly why this would not work. If not then I suppose I just made that point.

Well if we use the Race only weapons Gal/Cal are at a disadvantage from a weapons only stand point, at least from my perspective. |

To be fair, the two factions with light weapon AV, caldari and gallente, are the only factions that also have vehicles, so you wouldnt need to worry about AV in min/amar matches.
I would still play FW if the restrictions were in place, but it would be boring.
only gallente could use the assault rifle, shotgun, plasma cannon, ion pistol, active scanners, madruger, incubus
only caldari could use rail rifle, sniper rifle, swarm launcher, forge gun, magsec, bolt pistol, nova knifes, nano injectors, nanohives, gunlogi, python
only minmitar could use combat rifle, mass driver, hmg, smg, flaylock, repair tool
only amarr could use scrambler rifle, laser rifle, scrambler pistol, drop uplinks
so a lot of choices for gallente and caldari, but less choices for min and amarr, perhaps unlocking equipment along with modules. this would atleast allow variety of supply on the field, and maybe allowing all sides to use all vehicles. |
