When I play the famous laggy corp they do seem to better after the first few minutes after the lag kicks in and they "teleport" even more than the other players.
I actually assume they are not deliberately using a special modem to make it happen, please tell me this is true and there is an innocent explanation such as "they just have many people from all over the world and have open mics at the same time" |

Lag switches cannot be used in DUST. Although, I believe that the people with wonky connections who teleport about often become 'good' players because of it. I've been told that I'm prone to teleporting myself.

They're a myth. DUST uses server side hit detection and calculations.
Lag switches work by intentionally lagging the client connection. On a server-side system, this is counter-productive as for other players the player appears to stand still.

lag switches dont work on Dust but anyone smart enough will eventually figure out loop holes and I can assure you that there are some
however I am not aware of to what extent these loopholes affect the game
a simple issue that could be seen as an exploit would be to intentionally make yourself lag but I am not sure how much this affects gameplay
connecting to a server that is not of your region or ping to be more precise is more then likely the problem whenever you lag

No lag switching. DUST loads things from the server so you get server lag. The players from third world countries have slow connections so their character plays catch up by moving fast and dropping frames.
Yes, these people think they are that good. I feel like I'm that good when ai'm the one moving faster than they are seeing me and watching them shoot at where I used to be.

Most of the "lag" in dust is actually framerate drops caused by memory leaks and stuff like that in the game itself (almost certainly client side, since people in the same server in the same match and even connecting from the same house will often have different framerate experiences). |

Nobody knows for sure, yet they cling to their bs excuses because they don't want to admit being wrong. It may not be a lag switch in the traditional sense, but something is definitely wrong... and deliberate.
How come, if it's the game, they never seem to benefit from the lag?
How come, if it's the game, the lag always seems to help the same laggy guys?
There's no way any of you actually expect anyone to believe that the game is just laggy in favor of some players over others?
Why aren't the guys who seem to benefit lagging as bad as we are?
The way I look at it. If you need to cheat so be it. You're obviously that bad. Atleast have the dignity to let the noobs play the game regularly.
Save the lag dominance for PC will ya.

You may not use a modded controller, but your mates may. How would you honestly know? Guys I know could be using them, and claiming they aren't. How would I know? How do you know if they are actually negatively effecting other players with lag? While you seem un-effected because you're on his team, players against you guys are frozen in place. You may play fair, but that doesn't mean all of your team mates do.
Guys in our alliance are definitely doing some questionable stuff. I can't prove it, but I've played against them. I get the same laggy effects as if I'm playing other laggy players.
I'll never do anything to cheat another player. Got the money, and refuse to buy a modded controller. Not like CCP actually does anything about it, but they don't have to worry about it with me. I like to face my opponent on a level playing field. Not gain an unfair advantage through questionable means.

Yep, doss attacks are the norm these days. I've played against corps where they are loosing and bam, lag on headache giving scales. And those guys on the other side have no issues and yet everyone on my side has issues. Just read the message board and you can easily find out who's doing it cause it's the same corps that are calling people's internet connection garbage but on other threads basically writing out how to do it. All the while claiming innocence. And the modded controllers are on YouTube for all to see. Some people are too stupid to understand that video shows you as a cheat. End of rant lol |

It's good ol' server side lag. Players with poor ping using a bad third world connection drop frames on your end becasue they are trying to catch up to where you are. So they get an advantage rather than you. Sometimes, my ping is worse and so I can see other players being confused as to where I am and are firing where I was at a second ago. Those matches I am like a god.
I know what is happening though and so keep my ego turned down. The players that do that regularly I'm sure, think they are some hot sh*t.
You can experiment with this by getting in a tanked out heavy suit and hiding behind a container. Peek out for one second while supposedly being fired upon and duck back. You will see the lag between when you were exposed and when the shots register and the visuals ans sound fx play.

What is funny is that the Devs asked people to go into the Other Contracts to show them the lag. The issue with this is that the players who exploit the lagging would never expose this to CCP. I hear this garbage about people saying, "I am lagging just like you." That is not TRUE!!!!!
How do I know this? Well, I use numbers and logic. You look at the kill feeds and when the lag begins. Guess what, it is with the same guys present and they come out on the other side in the positive. You can claim skill while lagging all you want, but when we both have the same guns and I won the last 3 gun games and when we lag you win. Yeah, logic! Use the scientific method. Use the experimental process and scientific method to figure things out.

You can get a rough estimate of how laggy the match is by paying attention to the time it takes from when you press R1 to when the actual numbers indicating your ammo go down on your HUD.
A similar test can be done with cloaking, dropping equipment, and scanning.

Yeah, as I've said before I've tried to keep from deliberately diming guys out, but apparently he/she *scratches head searching for reason* has been seen multiple times doing this.
The Nova knife ARR can be mimicked, and has been reported to CCP. I see a lot of guys doing it now, and hopefully CCP can fix it. There's also the double shot glitch with shotgun, shoot from the ladder glitch, and others that I see players do.
Guys please understand that while these are glitches in the game it's still abuse! CCP reserves the right to ban people for it!
Please don't be doing stuff like this as I'd hate to lose anyone from our small community over any of these glitches, and doing this stuff is cheating! As far as modded controllers go it's up to the individuals integrity whether or not to run them. To my knowledge CCP has yet to openly say anything about modded controllers, but the EULA plainly states the consequences.
I never needed it to play, and I personally think the challenge of recoil in rifles makes this game a more tactical shooter! I also think the hipfire reticules should be removed for realism purposes as it is totally unrealistic. Players should have to aim down sights for accuracy, and trace shots for hipfire. This would make the game more tactical.
Ultimately it is up to you whether you consider yourself truly good, or you stoop to using mods because you're not. The fact that guys have to lagswitch, ddos, use mods, or whatever it is they're doing tells me that they consider me a threat enough to cheat.
If you wanna help the community don't bandwagon with the losers. Stand firm and refuse to help old bitter vets run the playerbase off. o7

Lag switches are not a myth.
That being said, they do not work on Dust.
They only work when one of the players hosts the game, at which point the hosting player can use it. I think CoD is one auch game that uses player hosting. I.e. their PS gets picked as the host for the game.
At least that is my understanding of lag switching.
