As I earlier promised I'd make a thread going along with my video: DUST 514: Getting to know Sgt Kirk, A CPM Candidate. IT sadly got delayed when an emergency at my store happened and I had to cover shifts.
Alas, here's a list of things I feel strongly about pushing if elected on CPM, even if I don't make it I will still push for these things as they improve the quality of life of this game during it's limbo in PS3.
As you guys probably know by know FW is where my passion is with the game and as CPM1 improved PC dramatically I wish for CPM2 to do the same with FW, ultimately I want the game overall to be of better quality.
Some of the changes I wish to push for FW are things such as
- Introducing a "Node" based system in Faction Warfare, it is deeply explained in my FW needs a "Complex" mode thread from earlier but a brief summary is allowing an alternate endgame mode like PC that's more accessible to anyone wishing to put forth the effort. Nodes are essentially areas that restrict number of players, and meta level items per team with less restrictions as you increase to bigger nodes
For Example:
Novice Node - 4 v 4 militia gear only or meta level limit on suit - 5 minutes to secure Small Node - 6 v 6 standard gear and below or meta level limit on suit - 7 minutes to secure Medium Node - 10 v 10 Advanced Gear and below or meta level limit on suit - 9 minutes to secure Large Node - 16 v 16 All Combat Restrictions Lifted - 10 minutes to secure
- Having a feature that helps promote Loyalty for locking yourself in with a Faction Alliance. A feature such as this would allow for added bonuses like 1). A permanent booster for that alliance while you are allied.
2). Increased ISK compensation for when you are paid at the end of battle regardless of win or loss.
3). Giving loyal players an option for to choose where they wish to attack and defend unlike neutral mercenaries who are just thrown in via "Priority Contracts", which is exactly like the system we have now when generating matches.
4). Payout System revamped, just like the system we have now but more ISK for the winner and everybody gets the same amount. For the losing side there would be a significant change, it will change to commision based like pubs where it's counted on by your contribution to the team. The losing payout however will not be anywhere close to the winner payout (maybe unless you are level 10). The new system would allow for both sides to do the best they can, on paper anyway.
- In general More ways to get paid. LP in FW featuring a bounty type system and overall pay systems.
Aside from FW there are a few things that really bother me about the game and it's that we don't take full use of our assets. These are some things that I'd wish to help push for a change to make more use of the assets that we do have in the game while reducing assets that take away from other in-game assets.
- Active Scanner Falloff, they need a reality check and shouldn't be as potent as they are when it comes to range, I went over it in my Active Scanner Falloff thread. In addition to that I think a healthy change to how we keep the scans on a person can be relooked at as well but like all things, that's up for debate with the community.
- Getting rid of uplink spam while promoting the use of mCRUs and the value of holding CRUs. I'll have a tread up explaining how I wish to get rid of spamming later on due to it being a lengthy post and subject let it be known that if the change did happen this I'd wish for mCRUs to become more useful as a module as well as the stationary CRUs actually awarding clone material for the side that holds it. So now the CRU not only works like a armored stationary uplink but as "extra lives" for your team.
- Shield Repair Tool There needs to be some kind of equipment that allows one to repair another's shields, whether that means be through simply kickstarting recharge or a halved amount of shield repair there needs to be something. I know we can find something if we can put our attention to it.
- I'd like to help make swarm launchers become more balanced while adding in diversity to the game in one throw. I explain it further in the thread: Repurposing the Swarm Launcher

As you guys probably figured I am not one for leaving out a vehicle just because not a lot of people use it or is useful. I find these assets most valuable because a bowl is most useful when it's empty. These unwanted assets can be the answer to a problem that you're trying to deal with. So instead of leaving them alone for a better time, why not see how those assets can help one another instead of designing things in a closed vacuum type mentality (Like the countless swarm launcher balance changes)
Some of these things include:
- Improving LAV survivability and performance. I'm a huge advocate for LAVs for some reason niche is my thing. I want them to return to the valuable mobile front line support vehicle like they once were back in closed beta. I've discussed these multiple times in countless threads but here are two that go deeper in that: Small Blasters and LAVs, close but no cigar. & LAVs will need an extra high and low after echo adding back the slaying capabilities of LAVs would also help in giving a small purpose of anti vehicle HAVs.
- Giving more purpose to the HAV. I honestly believe that heavy turrets / HAVs should have some unique ability to affect the game in some way besides just rampaging through downtown. I'm not sure how we would go about this, input from the community would be heavily needed. Something like disabling the missile nodes for a short period of time? I'm not sure.
- Bringing back Logistics vehicles Logistics vehicle alone in itself is not a reason to bring them back but with the changes listed prior and even some that will be mentioned in my "Pipe dream wish list section" will definetly give a reason to bring them back. Logistics vehicles were taken out of the game because they were without purpose, worked wonkily, and took way too much damage in the case of LLAVs.
1). We can easily give purpose to Logistics vehicles and some, like the LDS have more of a purpose in the game thanks to introduction of PC and 8 man FW squads.
2).The problem with Logistics vehicles as a whole back then is that they came with too much built in resistance, if you could dial that back, or even just make it a bonus to the module itself then it'd be a much easier problem to deal with.
3). The LLAV was a great concept but fell short, the Repair function of the LLAV should have been area of effect and not direct lock on which lead immense frustration among players. It also did not serve enough purpose as a Logistics vehicle. If the LAV was meant to be an Assault Frontline Support then the LLAV was meant to be the Logistics Frontline Support. There should have been a supply depot type module that allowed friendly units to restock and maybe even vehicles too. This module of course would need some limitations within reasoning of course.
Now for my pipedream list these are things that are very far retching for the Current state of DUST and its platforms but imagination is always useful and it's where practical ideas can come from.
- Sentry drones. We can't have mobile drones like EVE but what about sentries, equipment deployable small turrets that just guard a given area and do not move. The small turret asset used to actually be an installation by itself but was taken out of the game and can only be found on vehicles. We have the "A.I." for Large installations and assets are already in game, the only thing we need now is the memory and stats. Sentry turrets would of course be the highest bandwidth equipment in the game for balance purposes.
- Codebreaker vehicle module or specific vehicle role What if LAVs could hack nodes? Or at least Neutralize them back to yellow something like this could add a whole new dynamic to the game but how in the world would we even balance that? Community discussion would be heavily needed for that if such a thing became a possibility.
I'm going to be honest, while I'm a very experienced player and irl I'm a community planner when it comes to ideas that require intricate numbers I look out for other people to assist. While I can cover basic numbers people are able to come in and bring up variables that I or any person would not have thought of in their original idea. Just looking at people like Himiko Kuronga and Breakin Stuff alone can tell you the value in having people poke at ideas. That of course, is where the CPM, DUST community and CCP comes in. We may be on the sinking ship that is PS3 but that doesn't mean we're going to go out in woe, we're just getting started.

To me, DUST 514 is one of the last gleaming diamonds in the age of terribad Triple AAA games that are so cookie cutter and bland you can't tell one from the next annual money grab.
This game is so unbelievably dynamic and so full of potential that I just can't leave it alone. I've been with this game since the near beginning of Mordu's Trials. In the three years leading up to know I for some reason adopted a non FotM behavior that, to my detriment, caused me to become unbelievably angry at this game. More so than I have an other game I've played, and contrary to how I come off on the forums I'm a pretty patient guy so for a game to make me angry to the point of refusing to play it takes quite a bit of work. Regardless of the age of Apocalypse dropships, lasers, raining orbitals etc. even in those eras of near unplayable gameplay I still wanted to come back, a lot of us did.
I came back, because this game offered something that no other game offers. A feeling of personal progression and possession and lore so intricate and depthless you can just get lost in it and don't even have to play the game to enjoy the world of New Eden.
And it doesn't just stop at the gameplay itself but this community is so great I don't even have to play the game and just chat away with any guys in my various chat channels and have a good time and good laughs. I've made good friends and lasting relationships in this game and along the way helped me cope with some things going on in my personal life. Even on the forums, the communication between our players, nothing comes close to it that I know we get down each others throats from time to time but I really do appreciate most of you guys and the entertainment and feedback we provide.
I'm just rambling about how much I love this game and CCP and I'll explain about the why now.
Point is, I love this game deeply. There's a personal attachment to this game that I have and want to help make it better. As a long time player of this game I've experienced first hand what does and does not work and will hopefully do my best to steer us clear of the repeated mistakes that we are still suffering from.
Snip
- Importance of Lore is highly important with me and should be evident in the game / parallels with EVE - Lore must not get in the way of fun and balance - There is room for translation and compromise
- Active with the community - Active within the game itself - Veteran experience with DUST 514 being here for 3 years - Listens to people - Talks to people - I'm not one for holding things back. Unless it's covered in NDA I will let you know what's going on and I will make damn sure that your problems are being acknowledged. - Everybody is wrong sometimes and I am no exception. - I'm Straightforward - I am a DUST 514 player
I'm going to be honest, while I'm a very experienced player and irl I'm a community planner when it comes to ideas that require intricate numbers I look out for other people to assist. While I can cover basic numbers people are able to come in and bring up variables that I or any person would not have thought of in their original idea. We may be on the sinking ship that is PS3 but that doesn't mean we're going to go out in woe, we're just getting started.
Just a reminder that CPM are not developers in anyway and the major purpose is relaying information and concerns between the CPM and DEVs. While we do have a hand in where things might lean, ultimately we are not developers. It is our job to let the developers know what we want. That is the purpose of CPM.

That's how I was able to ease into FW in EVE.
Sure, I'm fairly smart and have a decent amount of money and SP when it comes to frigates.
but the second you start bringing in anything higher than a Frigate I couldn't compete, at all.
So the smaller nodes in FW allowed me to crawl my way up into more systems (really money) when I could finally hold my own against reasonable opponents.

FW is about loyalty yes..... but the gear you use should have no bearing how well rewarded you are. In EVE the reason you have ship size restrictions on small and novice complexes is to even the odds somewhat between parties on the complex so you don't simply have people dropping battleships onto the less valued complexes and rendering them unclaimable.

That's what I'm thinking about for restrictions if we are talking about the same thing...I think? There'd be no restrictions for Large nodes or regular FW Skirmish matches.
Whatever we are talking about you do bring up a good point. We have ISK Compensation right? what about if you use that Factions Items you get more ISK compensated for using their gear?
So in this theorized FW you can earn more ISK compensation through: Loyalty standing / allegiance Winning a match Using the Factions gear
So lets say if I was a Level 10 Gallente that won a match and I used All Gallente gear I'd get around 80 to 90% back with all those factors at maximum. I like that... I really like that.

yet to vote, im just wondering about the small things dust needs like for instance,
a corp mate being able to see what other corps are in his alliance, a ceo being able to leave an alliance without EvE help, the return of true loyalty ranks were players fighting for the federation lose standing with the state,
Also lol, complete ignorance towards the beautiful bolt pistol, And why CCP Archdukes trolled me over wanting a 'Frames assault rail rifle' that fires hybrid orbitals on rapid fire with hardly any kick,

Let's be real here.
This is basic corporate functionality. DUST should absolutely not have to rely on EVE to have basic functionality.
The same goes for things like channel moderation. Why on earth is an EVE pilot required for this?

there are big issues with Dust that need to be addressed and dealt with but also the sheer amount of little things that really need addressing would make 514 a greater player experience, its the little things that make a big difference
