Honestly the only thing I think CCP really cares about of this whole ordeal is the fact so many people got the suit for free and found out they hated it. They probably lost a lot of potential revenue of people dumb enough to want to buy the suit for Arum or grinding away factional battles (possibly with boosters).
It's like giving a test drive on a lemon and finding out the car leaks gas and explodes randomly. |

I wouldn't hold your breath to be honest. CCP has always had a soft spot for scammers and bad trades. Claiming it's part of the culture, now their just getting into the action I suppose.
That said we still haven't gotten any kind of reimbursement from the last 20hr or so server crash either and the Dev's have been awfully silent on the whole affair. Dev responses in general, at least official ones about the game have been pretty sparse of late. |

lol just an update btw but just got an in game email from a GM. They finally did the refund for the last down time, rather generous too. Though I'm sure some people got out ahead more than others depending on how much you had lost.
Far as I can tell I got 4 1 day active omega boosters and One 1 day amar booster. It's a bit hard given I wasn't 100% sure what I had before but I know I had no more faction boosters left. |

The solution is to alter game mechanics that make it less lucrative to make farm bots in the first place. In Dust, we need to axe the passive item accrual of the Warbarge.
Eh it's already pretty bad if your not spending Arum on upgrading your farming accounts. Without doing pub matches for extra War barge rewards your looking at a long time to upgrade yours to the point where you get anything decent. 3-4 months at least to get to level 5 for the experimental labs, more if you want a half decent level in your WB production part too. Add to that you can't trade items or money till you hit rank 2, which is what 2-4k loyalty rank points? You get a whopping 5 points for logging in and maybe 1-5 from battles, if they actually work. Some times you can win a fight, earn over 3k wp and get no rank increase.
And if you are spending real money on your farming accounts to increase your rank faster, well CCP makes money at least.

Yeah the easier it is to make an account and get full access to the game the worst the bot problem gets. I used to play a game called DC universe online and it had a huge problem at one time with Gold bots shouting out sales pitches in popular public places like the Watch Tower. |

Honestly I think the thing I hate the most about the view on this bug is everyone thinks people knew about it. Unless you live on the forums, checking every little post you don't know. I didn't even know about the bug really until after it had been fixed. Day of I'm sure people clicked on it and got their scout without knowing why, it's not like how to use the new interface was really described in game at all.
People also assume that anyone who bought a serpent scout day 1 were looking for deals to good to be true, but I'm sure before the bug became wide spread there were more than a few people who paid full price for what they thought was a normal suit. I am glad to see the suits gone. It was a plague to see most new players running those things in pub and FW matches because it was the only Apex they had. That said I do think the solution left more than a few people hanging in the wind, and none of them the people who actually violated the rules (according to CCP at least). The people who abused the bug to get the suit profited via the money they made selling it while those who bought the item more than likely without using the same exploit get the shaft. |

Well as much I would of loved to see something done about the potential loss due to trades there is another issue people might not consider. Simply put not everyone still has the money. Say you bought a suit for 20m, what if the guy you sold it too doesn't have that 20m any more? Would he go into negative isk? would money appear out of no where and you would receive the money but the seller wouldn't lose it? |
