Seriously CCP c-¦mon. This is wierd. Ultimately we all know about issuees of this game. Please just fix thingies. I know public relation is important but this is like laught to community face. Doing nothing and sell faces to us is not quite great strategy.

So what if she isn't a huge fan of shooters or even isn't generally good at them? It takes all kinds to find bugs, and someone who doesn't know what they're doing may find something someone who is great at the game would never have done because 'why would you even do that?' It's diversity in interest and a broad spectrum of skill in your testers that finds you the most bugs.
If you're going to complain about certain bugs not being fixed, complain at the people in charge of actually dealing with the bugs, not the playtesters who file the reports and send them in but have no control beyond 'hey guys, I found this.' |

I do not have anything against diversity of test team, but heck after that time it looks like diversity is quite contra. And that is what majority of this treat right now think. That diversity will change itself to chaos. "I saw something there and here and another one saw that over there..", is that that good? Direct focus is more pragmatical:"We will solve all glichtes about garphics now and next quartal we will take a look on servers issues.", yup it is maybe slower but you will cover whole field and not just spots. I'm sorry, but you're talking to me based on your opinions. You don't actually know what the testing process is like. The playtesters can't possibly hope to focus on central points because the playtesters, in most cases, don't know the code or how something is supposed to function. The playtesters are, usually, average people paid to play the game and give feedback. They will be given the game, told to play a specific part of the game, and will do so for hours on end until it's time to go home or they're told to try out another segment. If they find a bug and are asked to recreate it, they will do so.
It is at the direction of whoever is supervising the tests that they try out specific portions of the game, though there are testers who are given a broader leash and are allowed to check through casual play. But even if you have a hundred people working in one specific area they may not find some things. Even ones that may seem glaringly wrong to us. And even if they do find it, bugs aren't as easy as a snap of the fingers to fix. Some bugs may take weeks or months to finally figure out what was causing the problem. Some bugs may never get fixed in the game's entire lifetime. And with how poorly written we know the original devs made this game, not a single person should be bashing CCP Pheonix because she was a playtester and there are still bugs in the game. In no scenario is it the fault of the playtester that these bugs aren't dealt with. The fault lies with the original devs. The ones we've got now seem to be working pretty damn hard. |

It's not that. All the bugs posted in the Bugs section of the Forums hardly ever get looked at and are hardly ever fixed. Which makes some people believe this game has no testers at all, Or they're getting paid worse than those in the Korean Sweat Shops. I've posted bugs from all over and non get addressed.
They focus more on the Big updates and the Big Picture, sure its gotten us this far, but it's the little unchecked updates and lag that really kills this game. With the coming up releases of video games next year, this game has an impending expiration date. |

the "testers" also dont ever get to test a final launch build, they are givin bits and pieces at a time that may mor may not even end up in the launch build, and alot of the time arnt givin pieces at all due to CCPs development structure.
they arnt givin anything to do with dropsuit/weapon/module/vehicle stat changes because those are done by running a script that changes the values on the servers.
they dont test events, becuase those are done the same way
they cant test for lag... no acess
they were givin maps... but we dont have that anymore.
and they cant test for how pieces of an update interact with each other... becuase they arnt givin final builds to test. blame CCP here becuase they will be changing crap right up untill the deadline to submit to sony.

Question
How they test the game? Like honestly testing the game without testing the game? How?

Testing without inpact is nonsensical. Sorry boyko i must go, we both have different opinions about testing. Maybe you are rightfully sick from me or angry, but i do not see reason for testing and taking money for something what will be still broken.

I love how everyone seems to be missing the later part of this sentence, primarily the fact that she is now a producer instead.
What really should be asked here is why are old devs being moved to **** VR projects and bug testers are being moved to production leaving testing positions vacated.
We already saw in the last dev spotlight that there is one guy managing the testing team who also seem to be the bug fix team, managing the PSN store, and taking part in the submission team.
Now we see that previous testers who were obviously tasked with fixes as well are being moved to production positions along with the fact that atleast from the outside there is no growth in the Dust team.
How long is CCP going to be able to mismanage the hell out of this game before we start waking up?

Even in the smallest company there are at least 2 kinds of "server" : the test server (that can be a local server or even 1 machine) in order to try your program in similar conditions as in the production server. And the production server, where the final work is put. In a company like CCP, there must be multiple pre-production servers and test environements. Thinking that they can't test their whole game is so foolish !!!
They can try the whole game outside of Tranquility server before releasing a new update. And they probably do it or there would be even more bugs.
They just seem to do it very very badly.. Like right now, with 0 changes to officer suits and scouts, how did they manage to change the slot layouts? This is a bug that should've been seen in the first test. Same with the Bandwidth thing in my previous post..

As long as people continue to give CCP money, they will continue to stumble blindly down the road.
If people had smartened up after Fanfest 14, we wouldn't even be worrying about this crap right now. As long as it is turning an operating profit, expect CCP to keep it up and running to try and recoup some of that development budget they blew on toys and PC reskins of a single map for a pretty fanfest video(that wasn't that pretty btw)

Testers moving up to production levels happens all the time. Being a game tester is often the "foot in the door" position for someone looking to further themselves in the industry. This person very well may have some experience in different areas like coding and or design theory that they used to get the tester job initially, and their talents were previously being underutilized,
And seriously? Blaming the testers for unfixed bugs? I would be willing to bet a large sum of very real money that the testers for Dust are fully aware of 90% the bugs that get pointed out on the forums and more. But a tester is just that, they can test and report all day long, but it doesn't matter for squat if there's no one to fix it.
