See, if they had a weapon that shot a single round that did 700-800 damage over a 7m blast radius after a 2.5s charge.... Everyone would be losing their minds... but somehow Core Locus Grenades are considered 'skill'.
Nah, dude, I don't think any weapon that doesn't have a specialization tree should be able to one-shot 60% of the suits in the game and be so easily replenished by nanohives/supply depots. Like, it'd be one thing we were genuinely rewarding skill for that amount of damage - I.E: Having a smaller blast radius, but you're not getting away saying 'Skill' with an explosion that is larger than typical mass drivers...
Just so everyone is on the same page:
Arranged by Blast Radius Breach Mass Driver: 4.125m radius / 111.6 splash damage Remote Explosive: 5m radius / 1750 splash damage Mass Driver: 5.5m radius / 159.5 splash damage Core Locus Grenade: 7.2m radius / 600 splash damage Assault Mass Driver: 8.25m radius / 95.7 splash damage
Arranged by Splash Damage Assault Mass Driver: 8.25m radius / 95.7 splash damage Breach Mass Driver: 4.125m radius / 111.6 splash damage Mass Driver: 5.5m radius / 159.5 splash damage Core Locus Grenade: 7.2m radius / 600 splash damage Remote Explosive: 5m radius / 1750 splash damage
So, yeah, it has the second largest splash radius (second only to the Assault Mass Driver) and the second highest damage (second only to REMOTE EXPLOSIVES). Bearing in mind that Mass Drivers have significant flight time and low splash damage while remote explosives have a significant arming time that only starts -AFTER- it's been placed.
But the greater majority of the players that use these gimmick kills would have us believe that they're somehow well balanced when all that is required is holding down the trigger for two-three seconds and letting it go. And these things do a -LOT- more damage than they lead you to believe as I've had them do upwards of 1,200 damage before.
Like I said, it it were a weapon, everyone would be flipping their **** but because it is a grenade that virtually everyone and their mother uses than it is somehow balanced.

Mr.Pepe Le Pew wrote:A grenade is supposed to do UBER damage. That's why you have them in game. If people keep complaining about crap that kills them, then please go to a mall, buy yourself a box of legos, and go ham on the legos. This game is still about killing the opponent and finding the best way to do it. I don't recall getting killed constantly by Core nades. Why? Because I work the angles. If you constantly get killed by core nades, then you're doing something wrong ALL THE TIME. Pretty soon we'll ask CCP to nerf everything and instead of a weapon, to give us tooth fairy wands and flaming unicorns to ride on...cause everything is OP...
Yeah, it's a grenade, grenades are supposed to do uber damage.....
..... but I'm in a suit of power armor that is made of freaggin polycrystalline carbide and a body that is filled with so many biotics and nanites that I can barely even be considered human anymore. So at what point does your "uber damage grenade" stop and my "23,000 years in the future power armor" begin..?

So at what point does your "uber damage grenade" stop and my "23,000 years in the future power armor" begin..? From your reasoning, my core nade is 23000 years in the future also. Which means your future suit will be destroyed by my future nade. Let's nerf them so they can become rocks. Chuch rocks at reds. That'll make some people happy.
Composition fallacy. Maaaaaybe even special pleading. Also Slippery Slope.
EDIT: Tu Quoque, as well!
