So this weeks numbers bear out yet another abysmal week for new guys and begs the question as o why some aspects of this game have not been addresses. I started keeping track this week of the number of Officer Cadet or higher kills in the feed this week a well. Bear in mind some people have the rank feature turned off, but you'll get the idea. I really appreciate my friend who watches me play. She does most of the tally work. The good news Scramblers only accounted for 81% of my deaths this week. That's down from almost 90% last week, but the one shot sniper kills were way up.
Since the even was going on I played a few more games.

456 Kills
578 deaths (so much for being positive k/d)
Scrambler rifle family again seems to be the FTM noob guns of choice. So much so I seen three different officer level squads running BPO militia versions in three different games.

Percent officer or higher level name appears in kill feed....73%.
Where are the new players? Also remember, some guys don't show their rank.....
Now if you add NCO ranks, you kill off another 20% of kills.

HERE IS A BIG STAT THAT MAKES NEW PLAYERS LEAVE
Number of time I died before taking three steps from a spawn point: 147!!!!!!
So why would anyone want to play a game where 25% +/- of the time you just get spawn killed.

79 the number of proto suits I know of that I shot in the back then was instamelted after out playing them...

Another BIG STAT:
93% of all games ended in a red line WTF.

New players cant' advance at a meaningful rate because they are either getting ran over after the chicken **** vets leave a losing team or just get left in the dust while the vets on their team rack up all the WPs in a blowout game. This means slower xp so you can't even get anywhere on the skill chart.

So what you can draw from this, as I am only speced into Cal suits right now, is that shields are useless, the RR is garbage and honestly a new player being put in a match with 3 year vets is idiotic.

Take it as you will, but obviously the developers are either wanting the game to die out or are not competent enough to make changes to prolong it.

I am interested in these journals. I have been playing for about a year and a half. Its nice to read some one elses thoughts on dust. The game was difficult when I started. I can see it is difficult for you as well. The experience you are describing to me was like mine. If I only had better equipment I could show those proto guys who is the better player. By playing Dust you subject yourself to this really brutal environment until you either give up or become another predator.

I think the difference between my experience at first and yours is that before proto and officer was more scarce. Sure the occasional lone wolf ran it and big PC corps always ran it, but it was not as nearly abundant. Now there are a lot more officer weapons in the game with a lot more people to use them. There are experimental weapons and everything can be traded. Its pretty ridiculous if you ask me.I would not start playing dust now if given the choice.

There are good, friendly people who play this game to have fun, challenging fights against well equipped teams. And there are a bunch of assholes who have nothing better to do than stomp a few new players until they don't want to play anymore. Mail me in game if you want someone to play with WHO ACTUALLY WANTS NEW PLAYERS TO PLAY DUST.

TLDR:I like your journal. Dust is harder to start now than it was a year ago because officer and proto spam. Find some friendly people to play with.

The point is to read the post and understand what it means. When you started it was a carebear game. The game has changed and no new guys are staying. Maybe dumbasses who troll post are one of the reason?

I appreciate the work you are doing Baragamos. Unfortunately, as this thread shows, there are many barriers to entry for a new player in Dust. The same poisonous attitude that prevails in these forums currently was also a part of the forums during my year of play in 2013/2014 (I can't deny I took part occasionally), and from what I've understood and read it has always been a part of the forums.

That attitude spills into the gameplay, and in all reality deep into the mechanics. Dust was not made for the masses, it was made for EVE players (which bit CCP on the @ss), and backroom CCP gaming parties (I always loved hearing about the rage that ensued when the devs got together on their private servers). All folks who do not fall into these 2 categories are here to (hopefully) spend money and keep the private party going.

Of course all that's dead now, all that remains is the hopes of squeezing more cash out of players, and the original "htfu" attitude. Which is genious, really. For a company to release a subpar product, then have their small player base defend it with "htfu" (while funneling in money) is quite the accomplishment.

I always imagined sitting in a restaurant, getting served a meal that was utter garbage, complaining, then having all the other patrons in the restaurant telling me to "htfu", as they shoveled piles of sh*t into their mouths.

Unfortunately, the masses are more right than they are wrong. The nature of tranquility is a very ugly one, and there really is no changing it. Lord knows we tried.

I feel bad for the new players.. I had 2 BEAST games today (34/12/1 and 28/15/1) against a bunch of MLT and a little STD. I'm getting to be a pretty good player in both pubs and PC, but I'm not a beast with a massive K/D every game. I was a Logi for a long time and I have never fit the role of slayer, but even when I go kill crazy, we don't redline every game.

93% is BS. Total BS.

Almost 80% (estimate) of my matches end in good fights at the point (or central point in Skirmishes).
