Thank you for at least doing something for shields. I haven't started testing this new threshold, you've implemented. But thank you for at least doing something. I'm certain you know, I'll be reporting my findings here

I think it needs to be buffed to like 40 hp then have a skill that increases it by 25% so it it would be 50hp.
That can stop an ar round and it would take two rounds to stop it.
The threshold should be there to stop a spray of bullets.

Exactly the circumstance where the threshold takes place is basically non-existent ! |

Either that or I've gotten accustomed to be without the shield threshold there and stay in "safe" cover till most of my shields are back up.
There's that or the number is so low it makes no difference. :/

Why? Shield Technology is not exclusively Caldarian. Minmatar use it as well. Caldari simply have thicker/more shielding.

I was fighting a sentinel with a heavy machine-gun that was just out of its optimal range. It was hitting me a lot, but my shield regeneration large kept my hit-points static. I was in an Amarr suit.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

How about something like varying thresholds for for each race? Cal have most, amarr have least. This was suggested long before

The shield threshold - while an excellent mechanic to implement - is too low to be noticeable in the vast majority of combat situations. You're not in "combat" if you're taking <6DPS. Personally, I ultimately want the threshold to be a module bonus so that players can modulate it a bit. Off of the top of my head, I would say that the shield threshold needs to be capped at about 15Hp (before damage mods, proficiency, and profiles. Any higher, and whole weapons get blocked out (Like the combat rifle).

I thought the threshold was for "per round" so this would stop an HMG from a long distance or an SMG from a long distance from landing 1 round and stopping the regen.
There was something mentioned in a different thread I believe about not being able to code this as a "per second" threshold because of the varying weapons and the possibility of multiple weapons hitting at once it would make the computer work too hard to tabulate it all and cause lag. Which we all know we don't need any more of.

The biggest thing that can be done for shields is fixing the AScR. It makes them useless..... Love having three shot kills on me after I shoot a guy 4 times..on a 489/189 suit. It happens about 20 times a day. That is when I don't just spawn with 6 guys on the point... |

Well, it's hard to say, cause I literally can't see any difference. However I would still like a eHP shield buff and a pg/cpu reduction. In the meantime I would like to see this "threshold" increased. Maybe all of the people who suggested this were correct, and it could help

this is what should have been implemented.
the 6pts shield treshold was a big joke. think of plasma and laser weapons, useless buff.
i only notice this on hmg and smg, rail weapons not so much.
only useful when your 80 meters or so away from someone trying to kill you, with a hmg or smg.
thanks, but its kind of useless.

I have heard that weapons, from a large distance, that can't do very much damage at all from a large distance, aren't able to stop the shield regen. I haven't experienced this myself. However, it is a very small step in the right direction

The threshold is obviously way too low to make any difference, even with weapons with a steep fall off at range there is no apparent difference.
Because, that's why.

I believe that threshold was based on a post I put where I said at least 5 or maybe even 6 or 7 threshold so far away some guy spraying what should be ineffectual rounds don't delay regen because at 80 meters only a sniper or FG should be scary, higher threshold is questionable though because of high ROF low DMG weapons but since it's impleted tweaking to perfection would be nice, it's start so I wouldn't go hard on it
