I have the simplest and probably the best idea to stop people leaving and quiting the battle. In the battles start menu under suicide you should have the option to retreat or surrender and end the battle early if its getting ugly, and you dont want to lose any more suits or mess up your K/D ratio. Now i dont know how many votes you should need i say inbetween 65-75% of the team needs to surrender. The team that surrenders loses battle and everyone collects their isk anad SP for that match. Also to help the team know people want to surrender it should notify you just like it does with Warbarges/Orbitals and when people are hacking intallations. It shouldn't notify you everyon time someone surrenders just at either 10% or 25% increments, so people are aware that the team wants to surrender. The best part of this is that nobody gets penalized for this. its a win-win situation even for the team that doesn't surrender too. |

But people would still leave even if the majority agrees to stay.

its not one person leaving that is the problem its a whole squad leaving, and if 6-5 person squad all vote to surrender thats over 30% of the team right there and when people see that notification that 30% or 25% want to leave it most likely will influence more squads or individuals to surrender, and before you know it the match is over via surrender. I know i would surrender if im being redlined and i know lots of other individuals and squads would too.
i've won lots of matches 2-4 players short so there isn't a problem there. |

Would rather see either side of underway matches opened up for manual queue.
Enter the calvary. Rescues desperate blues from the redline. Turns around the match. Carries team to victory with seconds to spare. Gets paid serious Isk for accepting the high-risk contract, and an additional bonus for defying the odds.

Agreeing with Adipem here. Morale is so fragile in Dust. This has great intentions, but I feel it's motivating the wrong direction. We need to incentivize people to fight hard(er). Not give them a weak way out.
If there was a way for hardened mercs to be able to take on desperate contracts (via match underway queue) and get paid a lot more for it, that would be a lot more interesting.

Imagine being on that beat-down team, hoping and praying that a squad of vets comes to the rescue. And when they do, imagine how gratifying it'd be to see the mercs who had you redlined getting rolled while trying to regroup. It'd be fun to watch, and it'd be fun to be a part of.
But the same goes for the other side. At any moment, the tides may turn. That'd do alot toward keeping things interesting.

that would also work too, i can see it getting abused though by having people qsync and 1 squad sandbags and the other joins when contract is available.
Maybe it should only be able to be called in by the squad leader and you need to have like 1500-2000 wp or something to call in mercenary support. and once thats done you have your contract in the other contracts section in battle finder. This will prevent teams from sandbagging and then qsyncing together to boost eachother like people have done in the past with PC. |

Hey, maybe we could consider ideas that would make this Free To Play game fun to play.
Like reducing the horrific penalties for death. ISK loss and the CoD favorite getting the KD/R hammmered.
Don't count a death that gets revived. Would be a start.
Or (my wildest thought ever!) how about paying a decent amount of ISK for those below sixth place. The ISK payment will rarely cover one ADV fit unless you are in the top six.
I have two other MMOs and many other games to play. Dust514 is the Only game I play that punishes the player financially for death and for a battle loss. A loss mind you that the 95% of the players are helpless to alter; Scotty deploys late, unbalanced at minute 0, entire squads leave, Q-synced squads running PRO or OFF gear.
And yes my fellow Mercs, it not only used to do that but it was actually fun to play - once. Not since Uprising 1.0 though, that is true.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

So far I agree with where the first two primary speakers on this topic got to before it split in another direction... I do think that being revived not counting as a death would be good as you are taking a big risk of dying again right after/during being resurrected anyway (not to mention the likeliness that the reviver will be killed) this is just one of the reasons why there aren't more revives (people wanting to be or even just wanting to). And without a doubt Scotty has gotta go, it's just like vista (no matter how hard microsoft tried vista just couldn't pull it together, and then they took it apart and put it back together for windows 7 and it turned out to be much much nicer)... Scotty needs to be reincarnated. Lastly I think the point about the same map is right 70% of the battles I find myself in are one of 2 maps (either you are competing for that one/two dropship spaces, you know the one, or you are battling for the catwalks... I really miss the old maps, IMO they were much more balanced). |

My solution to Scotty.....
I was reading a post from Spridis and he was talking about the MLT items and whether or not they are too weak for new players. He has some good points. In light of that, I came up with an idea. I am pretty sure I have brought this up before but it won't hurt to do it again, right?
Brand new players have the Academy but we all know that doesn't last long. I don't think it should either. However, taking a player, who just got out of the Academy, and throwing them to the wolves (protostompers) repeatedly, is a bad idea. Nothing is more disheartening than getting spanked to the point of no return, and then spanked one more time to add insult to injury. That goes for any game, not just DUST. We all know this. But before anyone gets all bent out of shape by that statement, listen. Just hear me out. Would you rather have a game that you can face roll and win? No? I didn't think so. Would you rather have a challenge? Hell YES!!!! I have never enjoyed a match that I can win and cook a 5 course meal at the same time.
So, I have reached the point now that I can tell you what I am thinking. Make a battle type that matches you with other players in your tier (explanation coming). The tier could/should be based off of your TOTAL SP. Seems legit, right? So, the tiers, 5 in all, should be as follows.
Tier 1 = 0 SP - 1 million SP Tier 2 = 1 million+ - 5 million SP Tier 3 = 5 million+ - SP - 10 million SP Tier 4 = 10 million+ SP - 20 million SP Tier 5 = 20 million +
The numbers here are just one man's opinion and should not be taken as absolute. I just think that this could help encourage new players or old players to return. You cannot deny my logic here ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Anyway....
In the battle finder we have...
Public Contracts Faction Contracts Corporation Contracts Other (I think that's what it is called)
The only battles I feel would be appropriate for this type of thing would be the public contracts, possibly FW. The PC battles are in a league of their own and shouldn't be touched with this.
I am looking forward to any and all ideas, even if they disagree. I want to know what everyone thinks.
P.S. Sorry for the ramblings!!
I am Caldari, but that does not mean I support our alliance with the Amarr..

P.S. Sorry for the ramblings!! People have suggested tiers according to SP before but CCP is trying to add a feature that would block players from joining a match if their gear goes above a certain meta level.
