Would it be possible to merge shield rechargers and regulators into one highslot module? But to not make energizers redundant buff them by removing the shield capcity penalty and add a bigger shield recharge bonus. That way we maybe actually have some room on the lowslots for caldari assaults. Plus it would be a direct buff to cal. sentinels who only have 1 lowslot.
I was thinking about a line up like this: -basic shield recharger +25% shield regen and -15% shield recharge delay
-enhanced shield recharger +35% shield regen and -25% shield recharge delay
-complex shield recharger +45% shield regen and -35% shield recharge delay
The energizers should look like this: -basic energizer +55% shield regen
-enhanced energizer +65% shield regen
-complex energizer +75% shield regen
Basically the rechargers get the regulator bonus while the energizers simply give a huge shield regen boost but without the shield capacity penalty. Its the question then if you want better delay times with a moderate shield regen or a very high shield regen but with a larger delay (compared to rechargers). With this we could fit mobility mods and profile dampeners more easily.

So, by your idea, a shield fit can no longer run a Regulator and an Energizer? Because I like having a Regulator and an Energizer.

I think what he mean's is to have regulator's recharge shield faster as well as recharge more, while energizers remain in the high slot, seems like a sound idea really.

I'm not sure if I can agree with this... It's a large simplification of shield modules.
I'd prefer if there was a buff to shield regulators and energizers. Since as of right now, regulators are negligible unless you have 3 or 4 , and there's little incentive to use energizers over rechargers since they offer similar regen values.
Edit: Even with 3 or 4 regulators, there's a diminishing return after the 1st one.

Think about it, 4 shield extender, 1 basic energizer and 3 regulator's that give recharging capabilities along with enhanced recharge speed rate, it'd bandage the shield suit's at least, and it'd make it fair since, some of the other module (1 module) get's to be 2 in 1.

He wants to merge Regulators and Rechargers into one module and keep them high slot, to free up the Caldari's low slots for other modules.

Honestly I like the regulators as they are. The only problem is that the delays A) are too big and B) are reset by any weapon at any range. A shield damage threshold would solve a solid 70% of the problems with shields.

The last thing the armour meta needs is the ability to run both high HP and insane rep rates simultaneously.

everyone would switch to caldari stack complex armor reps in highs and complex armor extenders in lows or they would stick with the stick with the 2k armor tanks with 20+ passive reps

Ok, so shield suits would have room for more movement mods but still have to sacrifice Tank (extenders) for regen (regulator/recharger combo)?
That's actually not a bad idea. It would still keep the shield suits with the penalty of sacrificing Tank for Damage mods.
That's a pretty big buff though. Like, very big... |
