Why? The TTK and the strafe speed combined helped players find identity as slayers or support players, even if your gun game sucked you can strafe at the very least with MINUM skill necessary in your ******* motor skills. Players with gun game will excel as slayers, certain weapon types help negate the lack of skill by allowing pray and spray for those who really want to be a slayer.
Right now, you're probably seeing certain players in certain suits are doing especially well, and changing base stats isn't the solution, for they'll just excel for different reasons in another suit. You've compared your data for years and see the same flaw no matter what numbers are actually changed.
So the solution you came up with was basically bring down everyone to scrubbier levels. With reduced speeds, everyone will be easier to hit, so the actual STATS you keep ******* with might actually matter and not be skewed because the person factor will be less limiting with less speed available to them to dodge.
So congradulations CCP, you found it. All these GD peasants will be pleased that they're even EASIER to kill. I'm going to personally find pleasure i'm making people quit Dust because they now have no way to get out of my way when i come for them.
again, congratulations. And play your own game plz. |

strafe speed Nerf = nothing changes makes it easier to hit people but you are easier to get hit as well
the current wiggle wiggle will still remain and the only thing I see improving is possibly CQC |

Ok, here goes. This is going to come as a shock to you. But. This is actually a good thing.
The running speed nerf is stupid but strafe speed nerf is actually a good thing. We are not a twitchy ass game, we are a tactical game. Rat Man knows what is good for us, this game right here. He actually plays and tests the game, unlike a certain old dev team.
So while the running speed nerf is stupid. The strafe speed nerf is good. Do you want a scout or a MinAss to dance all around you while you futiley shoot? Do you want this to be known as DANCE DANCE 514?

I hate getting out strafed as much as anyone, but I don't like this upcoming nerf.
Meh, does it even really matter anymore?

This is what i feared people would think, and convince CCP of.
If you're dying to a scout in a fight in less then a second or 2 - that's fine. There little speed demons whose hit and run tactics have played enormous role in the battlefield, often time changing the city situation. Between there low profile, speed, quick high damage weapons, they're quite monstrous.
But if you get into a gun fight with one and lose, in let's say a PC match in full proto, then you should seriously reconsider calling yourself a slayer.
Every other suit, and even the Cal Logi, should be able to beat the low health scouts in 1v1 fights where both players know they're coming. Excuses are cute, but i know this to be true. ScR and RR make short work of scouts, and if you seriously have aim issues aim assist really is handy.
Strafe speed nerf was bad. Scouts will suffer for this. Heavies will have a harder time doing there only real role - only Assaults and logi's gain from this. |

Original strafe speed was .6 of walk, it was 'buffed' because it wasn't applying to KBM users. The change was a bandaid to make controller vs keyboard more on par.
If Rattati goes ahead with the strafe nerf I would imagine controller being out performed by KBM again, because they couldn't fix it the first time.
Does Rattati know hes removing a 'bandaid,?

I remember Faster strafe speeds of replication when it meant a 1 v 1 was two minutes or more of creodon ar till ammo was gone then smg versus smg to finish and sometimes the end of the gun battle was doing melee like a pair of drunks

Wiggle wiggle is the worst part of Dust. It causes hit detection problems, etc.
Nerfing strafe will actually help scouts. You don't need to strafe much as a scout. And if you do, then your aim is bad. Cuz it takes 1-4 shoots to kill anything (SG). It will make little easier to shoot someone in cqc.
Rattati finally observed how min ass and kb/m users dance, breaking the game.

strafe speed does not need a nerf but a limit. an example, you can't strafe/move faster than x meters per second while zoomed or firing. i came across a super strafer one time. he was in a gallante assault. he strafed so quickly none of my bullets hit him (no joke, not a songle shot touched him) 3 other guys were shooting at him along with me. 2 assaults and a heavy, none of them managed to hit him, the only damage done to him was from his drop ship exploding. he killed 4 people at once without taking damage from any bullets. i am unsure how he managed to increase his strafe speed so much. everyone i asked said it was hacks. do modules increase strafe speed?

I like the nerf.
At the moment you have too many wanna be guys with fast suits that run and jump around like mario brothers.
If people run/jump straight and confident to a heavy and brawl him down with two hits you know that something is wrong. |

I'm cautiously optimistic ^ This. Nothing is permanent. There's a decent chance that aim-assist magnetism might have to be dialed down a 'bit, and if 0.9x strafe --> 0.7x proves to be too slow, we could try 0.8x.

I have mixed feelings about this...
Would this apply to KBM users too? I know there was a point in time where strafe was 60% of movement speed, but KBM users weren't affected by this and had insane strafe speeds.

It should be for both playerbases, there is no reason to implement it just for controlers.

Shhh! Don't tell them that's why I support the strafe speed nerf is to make them easier to kill!!
For real though I could care less either way. Community is wishy-washy. There was unanimous favor for the increased strafe speed when it was introduced as a bug and now there is unanimous favor for it being reduced. The community is indecisive and the addage holds true: You never know what you want until it is presented to you.
So, honestly, I welcome the reduced strafe speed because I know my gun-game is decent enough that I'll only benefit from the reduction, but at the same time I've spent this long adapting to the strafe speeds as they are and it isn't going to hurt me to see it stay, if so.
-Shrug-. We adapt or we die.

Don't tell me about Scouts, i am a scout, one of the originals. Scouts will suffer yes, but we still have our stealth, you know, that thing that we relied on back in beta?
Your reasons for this to be bad are not very convincing. Just stop.
