basically begging CCP Rattati not to **** with our strafing. I thought I had read that wrong, but just reread the status update so ya he seems pretty intent on it. so I'm resorting to begging.
there are a healthy handful of cursewords in the above video, but since this is an fps community I doubt there is anyone majorly sensitive about it.
Basically, up till now I have never attempted to force any kind of interaction with the devs, but messing with strafe speed just feels like it could be VERY BAD FOR THIS GAME so I have made this tiny attempt to keep this game from going to boogers.
I have always felt (intuitevely) that there was some kind of wall seperating dust youtubers from devs, but I hoping I imagined it cause I really want to reach out this time. Regardless, I welcome feedback from everyone who wants to add it.
Other then that, hope you've enjoyed my video, and everyone have a fantastic day.

I could take it or leave it. I liked the way Dust 514 played back in Closed Beta before strafe speeds became what they are now, so it'll be a welcome change for the nostalgia purposes at least. Although, I'm concerned about how the game will stand as far as balance because all of our balance efforts up to this point were designed with the current strafe speed.
Assault HMG for instance is considered to be poor for anti-infantry uses because of the strafe speeds but when it gets hit the Assault HMG might find a new found purpose in the anti-infantry game.

Aww~... Baby scrub can't go without his broken minnie strafe T_T boo hoo hoo, POOR LITTLE MINMATAR YOUR ALL ALONE (well except for the fleet's you have in space, your corporation and alliance... y'know what... ignore that statement....).
Seriously though, this isn't a strafe game, this is a tactical shooter, also, potentially this could fix hit detection majorly, the main reason why HTD is so bad is cause suit's have been out strafing it's own hit ability, so even if you hip fire and see the visual hit it would count as a miss on your end, that's not skill on anyone's part, and that's not luck (unless the client start's lagging, and you get killed for it's fumble), it's a broken and abused game mechanic that need's to be straightened out, and say shite all you want, COD back in the old day's didn't have this crazy strafing (if you remember WAW it was more duck and shoot, but not a whole lot of strafing) and BF3-4-HL, you see strafing in those games, but those games don't have crazy HTD that you couldn't hit target's (except for BF4 in early day's, those day's were fun, but near god awful).
Tactical shooter mean's you're not gonna run into Floyd Mayweather punch him in the face and knock him out, it mean's you got 2 choice's go through with it and get the shite knocked out of you, or be smart, say hello, and be on your mary way.
PS. I know that the mayweather thing didn't make much sense as I said "punching", but you were and still given a choice on how to act, that's the important thing I'm trying to convey here.

You lost me at "player skill".
Move your analogue stick in a circle and let hip fire auto aim do all the work is the essence of dancing between bullets.
Mouse and keyboard makes it much easier to hold your target while moving much faster than any analogue stick.
Player skill in a one vs one dance off is a Nova knife fight.
Using cover, movement, your environment to catch your enemy of guard, thats the dust I love.
Some idiot with 300 hp dancing in a circle at point blank range hipfiring out in the open, which is more accurate than aiming down the sights, well the sooner that's gone the better.

It has been awhile since I've played other FPS' that purport to be tactical, but I don't recall any of them allowing strafing to be the best damage mitigation tactic.
And, in other FPS' that do support strafing as a damage mitigation tactic (ex: DOOM, Borderlands), the "wiggle-wiggle" strafing we have in DUST is completely ineffective, and they instead encourage circle strafing or other arc-based strafes, and even strafe jumping.
Anything that kills the "wiggle-wiggle" cancer and encourages cover usage is fine by me.

strafing the **** out of the hmg in a kinda tight space and being all matrix, getting taken out by some mega strafing scout making it look like i'm a star wars clone shooting at luke -_- the circle is on this guy i'm like 5-15m away this guy. I know I'm not that bad of a shot damn it...
Of course theres also times when I use this **** hard and go for the strafing jump SG or smg |

I wonder what impact slower movement speeds will have on system performance? From a lay perspective, it makes sense that the server would be able to communicate player positions more effectively; perhaps the relief of lower processor demand will diminish the unacceptable lag that plagues this game.

The ones that this IS going to affect is minmatar and scouts whose ridiculous strafe speed register not dmg even though you clearly get hit markers sSOOOOOO YEAH **** that nerf the hell outta it. Why min get a movement speed buff to all of there suits when no other suit grts this kinda bonus is beyond comprehension. Ohh n to those sayimg its because they have less health its not a valid excuse

I'm for it.
I remember someone getting the drop on me and leaving me with around 50 armor on either my MinASS, or AmASS. I ended up strafing through the ACR, and I think standard SMG. I felt bad for him after I killed him.

Any game in which strafing out in the open to dodge bullets instead of taking cover properly needs some looking into. Wiggle dancing is by far one of the most irritating aspects of Dust.

We should have the highest strafe speed the game can reliably handle, because at that point these no glitching, everything comes down to player v. player skill.
As we pickup frame rate from improvements to the game, strafe speed should be adjusted back up - this game feels clunky enough as it is.
Anybody claiming strafing isn't a skill in a reliable hit-detection game is full of kittenshit.

You can complain all you want about lasers. Despite the nerfs it will rip you to shreds.

Agreed. It'll be nice to have the gameplay be a bit less about who can flip Left-Stick back and forth the fastest.

Ya, everyone that is about to see a hit to there KDR should be tracked and if it is a change in their statistical KDR history-then that player should get a huge blinking * next to their name identifying them as a serial lagger.

People actually do use cover.....we'll just see more camping now and less aggression.
