Having watched people slowly trickle over to the PS4 for the last year only to never return to the PS3 I can agree that a turning point is being reached.
The PS4 is already on most peoples' minds and new lineups are all tempting being the turning point. The thing about Dust is at this point for many people it is nothing more than a social experience so as friends are lost to PS4 the move to PS4 starts to become a no brainer until migration reaches a critical mass.
The people that are more and more likely to move are the ones that are spending money. With no real future in sight it is very easy to say "well, I think I would rather spend money on _______". As this happens CCP is going to end up right back in a position of not having the cash flow to sustain certain things and the future of Dust will be in jeopardy once again.
If only CCP had announced a PS4 expansion instead of a PC remake over a year ago. There would not have been droves of refunds hurting their relationship with Sony and spending would not have dried up for many months until Ratatti saved their bacon. CCP - Constantly Choosing Poorly. |

CCP - Constantly Choosing Poorly. agreed we tried telling them that legion needed to be ps4 dust reborn instead but the ccp loyalists kept saying HTFU and pc only thats why its so fun when a ccp loyalist has a meltdown
I can tell you as one of the people that quickly adopted the idea of the PC version that "HTFU" and "PC Only" were more so from acceptance that CCP had revealed their plan and those who were happy with it were able to troll others. I was referring more to the terrible management that happened with committing resources to another platform entirely, dumping on the player base in a grand fashion, and now being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
In my opinion CCP now only has one saving path that can be taken. Release Legion as a COMPLETED game on the PS4 and give everyone that transfers their name, SP, ISK, and a percent of all AUR spent as a huge bonus for making the leap.
Simply put a Dust 514 port will not survive in the slightest on PS4 as it stands. People that have spent a fair amount of money on a new system and accessories are not going to spend money on an incomplete bug filled game. This is why the only reasonable option is to announce the Legion beta on PS4, let Dust players transfer into it, and actually have a complete game when they launch it into official production no matter how much it takes in extra resources. If CCP wants to have any future in the FPS genre this will be their one and only course of action. Otherwise they may as well let Dust rot away on PS3 and give Dust players early access with some bonuses to Valkyrie to try to keep salt out of the wound.

This gave me a slight chubby. lol ok,,,a full one.
Well I think that pretty much proves my point.

I would like to add that while I have argued before about the stigma that has become attached to both the names "Dust 514" and "Eve Legion" I think that slapping the Dust name on finished Legion code to have a really good game would probably be a massive PR bonus.
Everyone loves a comeback story and the story of Dust going through hell on the PS3 and CCP listening to players and keeping the game alive while vastly improving it just sounds like something that would send shock waves through the gaming community and have thousands upon thousands of people flocking to try it and find out if this is true.
Just some food for thought CCP. From PR nightmare to PR genius. |

Just some food for thought CCP. From PR nightmare to PR genius. They had better fix new player experience because the retention rate is disgusting. There is no way they are letting us transfer over our SP. Probably not isk either. I just passed 85 Million SP. 14 proto suits, all Cores maxed except cloak. All weapons maxed except knives. I'm sitting at 675Million isk. They should discontinue the forums. Save everyone time and tears.
Allowing SP and ISK transfers gives them top to bottom testing from the start. This is a MASSIVE advantage that could very likely be a game changer (pun intended).
NPE issues are not due to people having ISK and SP they are due to NPE issues. Poor instruction to new players, no real way for new players to reach out for help without risking running into some bitter vet that tells them to HTFU, matchmaking which suffers from a lack of players so new players are mixed with vets to try to keep everyone rolling through matches, not so great end game content to keep vets busy making stomping newbs the only entertaining things to do, and the lack of a true ISK sink to keep players wanting to earn ISK for something other than proto stomping are all the main issues and all issues that could be solved easily with in a completed and growing environment.
Oh and no PVE to give new players the ability to familiarize them self with the game and fittings and such before they are fed to the wolves does not help anything.
