* Kill a merc with more SP than you, receive a small SP bonus EOM. * Kill a merc with substantially more SP than you, receive a substantial SP bonus EOM. * Kill a merc in higher meta gear than yours, receive a small Isk bonus EOM. * Kill a merc in substantially higher meta gear than yours, receive a substantial Isk bonus EOM.
Given enough time and activity, newbros would begin to close the experience and wealth gap which separates them from veterans. This could make for rapid, activity-focused and performance-driven career advancement.
Thoughts?

VAHZZ wrote:Good idea, I kill other vets all the time. And ofc they have higher SP than me, I only got like 17mil SP. so this makes me happy. Exactly! And if you did so while running lower-end gear, you'd potentially make alot of Isk when you do well against guys in higher-end gear.

Boot Booter wrote:I'd be on board with this. Why not. Could be exploitable if that substantial bonus is quite substantial... Excellent point. Hadn't considered the possibility of Isk farming/transfer. Though ... if a player was intent on farming Isk wouldn't it be more efficient to simply run low-meta gear on his main?
Aeon Amadi wrote:What would be done to prevent/limit kill whoring? What's to stop me from just waiting for my team-mate to get them low enough for me to get the last shot off and reap the rewards? Karma? I honestly wouldn't expect to see any change in the frequency of kill-stealing.
Sgt Kirk wrote:I've been saying this for so long I just became tired of it. Who knows, maybe Rattati will actually acknowledged it this time. Srlsy? Didn't mean to steal your idea, Kirk. The concept came to me last night after the same newbro caught and killed me twice in a row; thought to myself "self, this newbro deserves a nod beyond a gg mail." Please link your post(s), and I'll give you 100% credit in the Title and OP.

Please link your post(s), and I'll give you 100% credit in the Title and OP. You are being unusually polite. I'm sort of wondering what you're motives are lately. Motives!? Not running for CPM. Promise. Primary motive of this thread is to pitch an idea for improving new player experience and retention rates; eve-offline's steady downtick in headcount makes me uneasy. This game has so much potential; it would be a shame and a waste to see it die. Secondary motive is to hint to Kirk that I do feel bad about throwing him under the bus.

VikingKong iBUN wrote:Closing the gap between noobs and vets would cause half the vets to leave. People who have spent the last 2 years saving up 80 million SP are going to be very angry if they're suddenly a noob again. Fair point. The title was perhaps misleading; changed it from "Closing the Gap" to "Narrowing the Gap" ... this better fits the intent. In practice, I don't believe that noobs slay veterans all that often. Assuming they did and did so often, it would still take years for a 1M SP newbro to actually catch up to an 80M SP vet even with a substantial SP bonus.
