The American public will flock to this game if you get a commercial on. Even a YouTube video. I think the game is decent enough now to hold players and grab their imagination.

I love this game, but I hope they wait to advertise until UX is in better shape.
I'm envisioning a future Dust with low-security, post-academy cooperative contracts focused on clearing areas of drones. A future Dust with a solo playmode where casuals can fight against other casuals to grind out Isk and SP. A future Dust where highly competitive, large squads favor competitive contracts over stomping pubs. A future Dust where established corps would seek out and recruit new players with promise.
I love this game, and I think it has enormous potential; more potential than any shooter I've ever played. But I don't believe that this game in its present state is capable of retaining players. In my opinion, money spent on advertising at this stage would be money wasted. There's still too much work to do.

then the public backlash against the game would live on in legend.

Any Casual Shooting type person picking this game up and trying to play would likely ragequit in two days. There were a couple videos posted a while back on some people trying dust for the first time. The agony is real.
They need to have true PVE to allow players to get used to the game. They need a true tutorial to give players a basic overview of suits/weapons/modules/equipment. They need something as simple as a shooting range to allow players to test different weapons against stationary and mobile targets.
Without this, people will come into the game, get stomped, realize this isn't your casual FPS, and go back to BF or COD.
Like Adipem said, this game in it's current state simply isn't friendly to new players.
Once all of that is done (and likely a port to a new system), then yes, advertise the heck out of it and get the word out there. This game needs some new blood and new players to keep it alive and kicking.

Grease Spillett wrote:It is highly opinionated that they would stay. I believe that the role playing casual shooting types would stay. Why would a newbro stay today? I arrived in Chromosome; I stayed because:
* Newbros could actually outplay and kill vets in Chromosome * Stomps and lopsided fights happened, but they were a rarity and far less severe than today's * There was no such thing as a PC-rich class who could afford to protostomp all day, every day * By my 3rd week of play, I'd received recruitment invitations by 3+ different corps. * My corpmates demonstrated a sincere interest in my development path as a new player
When I arrived, Dust was a different game than it is today. If I had arrived today, I wouldn't haven't lasted two weeks. No new player in his right mind wants to be fodder and entertainment for an elite class who he will never catch up to, who he will never be as rich as, and who want absolutely nothing to do with him apart from farming him day in and day out.

But I believe there's still critical work to be done on the NPE front, and I believe that work should be done before we attempt to lure new players.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:rather spend on fixing the game. Completely agree. I do not want this game to have a bad second impression. Everything must be polished first. The ps3 release just showed how harsh people react to a game that does not work properly. 9k online to 5k in less than a month or two after uprising release. Right now the devs are doing pretty good on opening their horizons by selling skins and allowing trading to see how things flow. Which is great and all but i do not expect many people to spend 10 dollars on a skin while other games sell their visuals at 7 dollars or less. I just hope to god that they never ever put p2w weapons or suits. |

Yeah, technically this is the right answer. However, there is the part that the game will constantly be worked on, and needs new players (new player money, which would help to fund the game) to get the game fixed. Regardless, I still believe PvE needs to be implemented, not only for newbros, but also for fun. Back to the topic, it's a chicken or the egg type of a situation

It need's PvE not a ps4 port. God I hear this all the time, if CCP thought this was the way to go, they would have probably mentioned it somewhere or other.
This game also need's multiple fixes, greater weapon customisation (damage mod's are the only things that count), better balancing's and rebalancing's between shield's and armor, and weapon's all together, alot need's to be done. No insta port to ps4 is gonna fix everything.

Because the PvP game modes are full of stomper's, NPE has yet to be perfected, and overall, laggy map's and hit detection is currently outclassed by other game's, until all those have been met (PVP will always have stompers, thats what PVE is meant for, a mean's to help NPE and players not good at competitive franchises to get SP and enjoy the game).

The PS3 has only a few years left and we should be glad that Sony is one of the big 3 that actually supports their past consoles. CCP has only a handful working on DUST it is their first PS3 game and FPS. The PS4 is currently the big thing right now and has similar architecture to the PC. I would say the PS4 might even outsell the PS2(all time best selling comsole). Just bits of information I'm through information here but now my point is to not port it but recreate it, not under the name of DUST or Legion but something new but same concept. It has to be done right the first time, consumers are tired of buying unfinished games and I'm sure they won't bother with a f2p game that still has missing g content after 2 plus years.

Ehh, yeah I'd definitely play it then, but, their working on valkyrie, (which can be part of their title on ps4) I'm just not on the band wagon with ps4, everything getting ported, and it seem's like only few game's are actually good (but kind of boring to play) on the ps4. I just want to see what we could pull out of the Ps3 a little more before going *thump* "It's dead jim".

Also I have notice in low sp squads the game is not the same high level players all the time. I joined a squad of less than 1 mil sp players. It was surreal no cheap tactics a game I could actually see growing brand new players. Whether you know it or not the devs new matchmaking system is good for new guys.
