We give the shield version of the armour plates and feroscale plates. The current shield extender becomes the shield version of the armour plate. They will have a lot of hp and a high delay increase for example.
New complex shield extender. 105 shield hp 15% increase to depleted and delay. These will be used by the Caldari sentinel or other shield suits that want a huge hp pool.
Next for the shield version of the ferroscale plates we have the hp stats of the current shield extender but with the removed depleted delay. So basically like this.
Complex shield. 66 hp with no depleted delay increase.
This will give shields the same versatility as armour in hp modules and would not be to hard to implement. It will also allow Caldari to be what they were supposed to be a high shield hp suit like the amarr. It will also allow the caldari sentinel to actually be a sentinel. This idea would also not be hard to implement as all you need to do is change a few stats.

Sounds good, +1. Why don't we go all the way though and give us another extender that gives say, 30/40/50HP and -10/15/20% shield delays?
Alternatively it could do improved shield recharge rate, but that's kinda meh IMO. Could you imagine a CalAssault fitting all reactive-extenders and regulators to have almost literally constant regen, but having lower HP and no utility mods?

Yes, yes I can. It would be GLORIOUS.
Definite +1 to the idea of multiple Shield Extender subclasses. I would TOTALLY run a Calsent with two "Ferroscale" equivalents and a pair of Rechargers for near-constant regeneration. |

So long as im passing 500+ shields, im fine with that (500 is my safety number, 700+ would be my comfortable number). So, does this come with shield recharge mod buff's for all this HP?

Is a little overpowered and might need a drawback but is a sound idea. I would decrease the delay decrease to either at proto to 10 or 15%.
Since the reactive plates increase hp and rep but decrease speed and these decrease delay and increase hp we could also make decrease recharge rate. It could be like 1% 3% and then 5% from std to proto.
So if you stack 5 of these on a Caldari assault you would have 618 shield hp. 2.5 and 3 second delays and a 22.5 recharge rate. All just by using 5 of these in your highs.
We could also either make them effect only one of the delay stats or put them in the low slot.

Its kind of ironic really.
Shields are supposed to be all about regen rate and low HP values and armor is supposed to be all about high HP values with slower movement.
This proposal goes through and it essentially reverses that design
Not that I'm against it, just think that it is amusing.

I looked at armour and wondered why they get 3 different flavours of hp and shield gets only one and that armour can protect their movement speed by sacrificing their hp with feroscale plates.
Why couldn't shields sacrifice their regen capabilities for more hp just like armour did with their hp and movement speed. I also wanted the Caldari sentinel to have a reason to exists.

Honestly, i don't see a problem with giving "Reactive" extenders that much HP, but yeah i could get behind decreasing recharge so as to make it not seem OP, though in the end i doubt a 3% decrease would do much.

I would take a penalty to recharge rate than depleted or recharge time, reactive-shields gimme gimme, shield-o-scale, me wants.
However i'm still trying to wonder, why aren't the shield extenders based off of base shield amount? like 10%, 20% and 30%, would make it perfect, from the shield related skill, we wouldn't get much of anything at all, I also just did a check, adding +30% to caldari base shield max (344) and adding 30% from there (upto 3).
Just tried with all 5 slot's, it'd be over 1.2k shields, if there's a massive penalty to shield extenders for recharge rate, at -5% per pro shield extender, it'd be 23/30 shield recharge rate that's 23, literally it'd go down to armor level at that point, if the penalty is 7% it'd go down to 20 shield recharge rate per second, that is practically gallente armor rep level, there'd be no way to recover 1.2k shields at 20 shield recharge rate. (Google math ftw).
That's for caldari however, not sure about amarr and other race's shield amount but given the fact that minmatar have high shields and 4 high slots? it wouldn't come out to caldari level and the penalties wouldn't promote dual tanking (unless it's amarr the duel tanking race, which it was meant to be).
Use a calculator and check each race's max base shield HP without any mods, and add 10% (Basic shield extender) 20%(advanced) and 30% (proto) to see if their HP shield value reaches a certain threshold, (if caldari can have 600+ armor with 3 armor plate mods, gallente should at least reach 400+ in shields, so that it's fair for both sides and allows options to everyone, other than just armor meta).
Edit: Okay, if we do % base on normal extenders, then shields recharge extenders would have to be 55, as suggested above, but ferro extenders, possibly 77 so that you see a definant difference between the 2.

Honestly, I don't know what else to add, but I do know with all these changes to shield mods, PvE would be so much sweeter and great for both shields and armor. (Since apparently rat's is doing experimentation with them)

IMO, Shield Extenders need to have their PG/CPU costs re-evaluated. The amount of HP gained for such high fitting costs is a little extreme and discourages full on shield tanking.
I can add extenders and get a bunch of HP but my regen capabilities will be hampered and the only way to recover from that is to fit Rechargers/Energizers/Regulators - all of which have ENORMOUS CPU costs. Sure, you save a lot on Powergrid but what are you going to use that for? Armor plates, more than likely.

i like this idea. I never saw any purpose for running complex shields for such a expesive firtting cost where i could get similar levels and better fits with enhanced.
it shouldn't take more than a few tweaks adjust.

If I understand the different types of shield doctrines, I disagree. To the best of my knowledge, the Caldari are supposed to be a shield heavy, (comparatively) low regen race. They fire from long range and are able to ignore response fire due to their large Shield HP pools. Coupled with their lower speeds, Caldari ships are ones that focus more on raw Shield values and resists than on regen.
If the fitting costs are appropriate, I don't see this as a "reversal of design". Caldari suits can enjoy larger HP values that regen slowly when compared to Minmitar suits that will have lower shield HP with fast regen time and movement speed.

As someone who's been an armor tanker since Mordus Private Trials, I too would like to see more options on shield extenders.
Call them "Overcharged Shield Extenders" and give them in between the HP values of current extenders and Armor Plates.
Basic 60 and 75 at lv V Advanced 80 and 100 at lv V Complex 100 and 125 at lv V
Then I'd make them have a % decrease in shield recharge amount, like 20/25/30% with no stacking penalties.
Before you say "WTF, THAT'S TOO HARSH. OBVIOUSLY TROLL SUGGESTION!!!" let me explain myself.
Let's look at and example. 5 complex OSE mods would net you 969 total shield (hubba hubba) and 1163 EHP. From there you get roughly a 5hp/sec recharge rate which is just barely better than what a Gal assault gets with no rep mods. Then on top of that, you still have lows which you can use to upgrade your already unaffected speed, and cut your recharge delay down to 2 and 3 seconds while moving at 4.95 and 8.19m/sec using 1 kin cat and two regulators.
Compare this to the Gal assault which only gets 4.5hp/sec recharge, is moving at 3.83 and 5.63m/sec, and has nothing to augment his main tank at all in the highs.
But let's look at a more realistic scenario. 3 OSEs with 2 rechargers gives you 719 hp and 22.6hp/sec recharge. This really does keep shield tanking right in line with what armor tankers are doing right now, while still being able to keep their base mobility if not enhance it.
To match it, a Gal suit would have to sacrifice mobility with 2 complex plates, a ferroscale and 2 reppers.
Honestly, something like this could completely switch the meta if it weren't for the ScR.
