(this is not true for PC but I am not good enough for PC) so people want to play solo in a team based game, they also don't want to be ganged up by people in said team based game. I think these loners should go play another game if they are so heavily offended by people playing in squads. I play solo because I don't want to gang up on loners , I don't think any loners actually feel bad about being ganged up on, they would either squad up or quit the game. , Don't kid yourself about it being a team based game, If a squad finds a good spot to murder loners it will totally ignore the objective.
The problem there is the loners. If they weren't loners they would be able to coordinate to take the objective while the enemy team was off chasing kills.
This is actually something that plagues many PC teams. Players are used to pubs where they can run off chasing kills. Against good PC teams people are trying to get you to chase, when you do someone comes in to take the point behind you.
It's not much better in pubs to squad up. The plethora of loners in matches usually just means that the side with a squads gets the loners that suck. So you run in as a squad and find yourself camped from every roof (despite having at least 5 snipers on your team), vehicles, and whatever else.
I find squad play in pubs more frustrating than solo play. But that's mostly because I will leave a battle more quickly if solo. If my squad is trying to do stuff then I'll stay. If people in my squad are only factoring into the ineffectiveness of the blueberries then I'll just leave squad and bounce.
I don't get to play much, I'll try to find a match with a majority of people who realized they logged into a FPS game. |

It is a team game but seeing any teamwork when not in a squad is actually kind of rare, when it does happen it is a beautiful thing. I've seen my team with no squads on it but full of vets got up against 2 full squads and some randoms and we cloned them in 10-15 mins. At this point in this game mostly everyone should be somewhat proficient on the battlefield, like if you see a lack of uplinks you bring some, if you see a tank dominating the map bring some av even if it's just grenades, and so on. We could all benefit from a little more teamwork, it makes the matches better and keeps me from rupturing a blood vessel from the rage I have towards my blue dots when your being ******* dumb.
If a squad is willing, they can really put up a fight and donate a bunch of clones to the cause. Sometimes the blues see this and actually spawn on the uplinks and contribute. It's rare, but it happens. |

Dust's player base isn't small enough, lets marginalize a significant if not majority of the players! That is how you grow a game right? I mean, it would be too hard to try and acknowledge both play styles as legitimate and needing to make room for both. Let's just oversimplify the game to one perspective because we are lazy, lack the creativity, or are just plain too full of ourselves to care. Sounds like a recipe for success!
Solo play has won out. It's been this way for a long time. This combined with the fear of asset loss and the lack of incentives to win has created a very boring and frustrating environment.
The "sandbox" play is so prevalent in Dust that there isn't room for team oriented play in pub matches. You either immediately scare off the enemy team with a show of organized force or your teammates are immediately scared off.
The players that have taken the tools provided by the Dust development team to multiply their effectiveness are leaving in droves. Solo players have nothing to fear, pretty soon that's all that'll be left. |
