Add a piece of mining-related equipment like some kind of mineral scanner. Mercs can mount it in an equipment slot and it can operate like an enemy scanner, except they are scanning for where minerals are located in the map.
Add a mining vehicle to extract minerals. The vehicle must be taken to the extraction site and deployed. It should have a decent amount of HP to prevent immediate destruction by rail turrets and HAVs. This should be a defensible vehicle. Something that the team can rally around and would want to protect.
Extracted minerals are tallied at the end of the match and split between the team. This gives everyone incentive to protect the mining operation.
Mercs can sell minerals to EVE buyers for a nice price. I don't yet know the specifics of the trade value of minerals, but the idea would be to make it highly lucritive to perform such a dangerous mission during an enemy engagement. Of course, the cost of the mining rig would be high to encourage high risk, high reward. |

I like the idea, but I don't see it gaining momentum. It seems a bit too abusable too.

Yea... Very abusable, hard to implement, lots of time involved making the DUST/Eve connection work...
I don't see it man, sorry.

Okay, so if the EVE link is too hard, at least acknowledge the significance of mining in the EVE universe.
What if there were a new kind of plugin for maps: Mining Facility.
A mining facility structure has one objective in it, while other objectives may be located elsewhere on the map.
While your team has ownership of the mining facility objective, they earn an additional 900 ISK per second toward the team's ISK reward pool at the end of the match.
That's something worth fighting for and would be a thematic addition to the game. |

Even if mining were to be implemented, I don't think it would be in that exact manner and it probably won't be until Dust is on the PC or PS4 and maybe 10 years old by then.

Maybe something like prospecting data should appear under 'other contracts' at which point you can go out in a squad or platoon, scan down the loot and lay down some small infrastructure (which oddly looks like a acquisition console but here can be called a mining rig) which gathers resources for your team.
If another team joins and finds you they can hack the infrastructure and the loot starts to goto their team.
Maps should be without redlines to make it harder to find loot or the team doing the looting. Spawns should be from the MCC only or uplinks placed by the teams.
Maybe the material is what we use the make a new tech level of weaponry or can be sold to EVE players so they can make something, starting to make the 2 games more dependant.

not so keen on the idea within other game modes, but as its own game mode yes.
however, that would require new map and market assets and the increase in materials into the EVE economy would have to be carefully managed to prevent any significant unbalancing. Also it has to be tailored to fit the ideology of Dust, your a mercenary fighting on behalf of the corporations, not a miner. |

On the same similar topic with a twist: What about instead of using it to find minerals, it is an equipment detector (looks for electronic signals etc) and random equipment, warbarge components, the random EOM gear like Optronic Sights, etc.) is scattered around the battlefield. Once you find it, you "hack" it to dig it up. After digging it up, it goes into your inventory (it can be shown in your EOM salvage.)
There could be a seperate skill set up for "dig speed" just like hack speed. While digging, it is just like hacking where you are vulnerable to getting killed.

Hm. Warframe has an "Extraction" mode, where similar to Acquisition(almost) a point shows up where you have to deploy a drill, and at that point keep the drill alive long enough to reap the rewards from it.
Let's just say, we introduce a DUST only mineral that is usable as a sort of shortcut material in EVE ships: Let's just call it Crystite.
So you'd go into "Other contracts" find a mining operation or simply queue for one, then you would play a seemingly normal Acquisition, except rather than once hte point is hacked it being able to be re-hacked, it has a health bar- say on that train map, the damage-able portion is the cargo can it's attached to.
Then when the drill either finishes or is destroyed, 15 seconds roll by and a new one is established. The game will end either at 5 minutes or when one team hits 500 Crystite, OR when all clones are eliminated(to give it a "you get paid for how hard you work" feel)
As for how it would work as a shortcut material in EVE, let's just say that every 20 Crystite can be used in place of 120 Megacyte, a (i presume) rare material used in the crafting of Battlecruisers(iunno i literally just found this), as seen here. Thus you could estimate that 220 Crystite will fulfill the 1287 Megacyte requirement in crafting a Harbinger.
EVE guys have tons of money, and dust guys don't need comparatively as much, so prices would be vastly differing in the initial stages I would assume, but I can also say it might be a hot commodity in the EVE community.
This would then let us later go into providing each team with a Oribital Artillery socket, allowing them to damage(not 1 shot) any potential EVE orbital support for the other team.
Hell, we could even make certain areas have a door or turret barricade that contain vastly superior quantities of Crystite gained per second, and would thusly require the EVE guys to remotely hack them or to destroy them outright, all timed in such a way that the enemy team doesn't take advantage of the conveniently removed threat.
