It's the worst faction and people have been complaining for a year so why hasn't CCP tried to fix it? I will be back in 2 weeks to test cal scout/mando already know the assault sucks but I'd like to hear your opinions on the caldari suits and how you'd fix them? Or if you think they're fine state why you think so o7

Caldari Scout is pretty good, potentially the best or second best Scout. Scouts as a whole seem like strong suits because they are capable of moving very quickly and being Cloaked. It is a suit that has a powerful role. All Scouts also have INCREDIBLE Shield stats.
Assault is weak. It isn't much different than a Frame.
Logistics is weak. Nanohives don't give much WP so a Caldari Logistics isn't going to be farming that hard. There is also the fact that they don't have the CPU to fit their stuff very effectively, meaning they give up an Equipment slot for an extra Low slot (compared to the Gallente) but that slot is usually a CPU enhancer.
Sentinel is weak. Sentinels are meant to close range guys, guarding a point. Shields are terrible in a stand up fight and the most powerful thing in the game is probably HMG + Repair Tool, meaning a Caldari Sentinel is not going to work that well.
Calmando is probably the second best Commando but there is a light year distance difference between them and Minmando.
I would give all Caldari suits the Scout treatment and buff up their inherent Shield Recharge and lower Delays. Playing a Caldari Scout with a bunch of Shield Extenders feels better than playing the Caldari Assault with whatever fitting because of the downright awesome shield stats. For the Sentinel, that is a hard fix given that Shields are antithetical to the role of the Sentinel. Just my opinion.

While I agree, the Calass is the worst assault, I really don't think it is as bad as everyone says. It is just a very hard play style, one that most people don't like to play.
I have the dren calass, with no skills in it. I equip it with my quafe plasma cannon, a couple extenders, recharger and reg. This is honestly my favorite bpo suit, great for hit and run and taking out high value targets with minimal risk.
That said, I have an alt skilled into every caldari suit, and the assault class is my least favorite. The scout is IMO the second best scout. I started him with just heavy (forge gunner) and commando (both great suits,) but my KD improved dramatically on him once I skilled the scout.
The Commando is probably my favorite so far. It is a monster of a suit at basically any range but point blank. It needs much more speed to play the hit and run style that it should though. Speed is an issue with all commandos at the moment. Thank god its being fixed because I really like the class.
The sentinal is fun. Forge gun king IMO, and not bad with an HMG. I can't really say it needs anything. Like the suit as is.
I think shield regen rates need a slight buff to be competitive with armor in general. They used to be able to regen a lot faster, and it was slightly OP (hence the Nerf that came,) but we have seen some powercreep in dusts weapons (warbarge bonus, ect.) and shields don't seem to regen like they used to, especially once depleted.
'Sault AK.0 - Logi AK.0 - Logi GK.0 - Scout GK.0 - 'Mando MK.0 - Masshole in every sense of the word.

same reason why RR's got nerfed in the first place and why the laser rifle got a buff and hasn't been nerfed
because people complain about things that don't need to be fixed instead of looking at the real problems |

Cal scout: Best assault-scout...1.2/1.8 second delays @ 550+ eHP and 50 regen/second. Speaks for itself Cal assault: Horrible bonus, still a viable assault until a scrambler hits the field. Needs to be faster. Cal sentinel: Has to much armor for a shield-based suit. Shield regen is awesome, but needs more shield and less armor. Cal logi: Nanohives are in a really bad state, easily destroyed and easily replaced by a rep tool. Great for logi's who want to slay AND drop support for teammates though. Needs another equipment slot and a better bonus. I don't know why the caldari only has 3 equipment slots when the others have 4...
I don't have the proto calmando unlocked, can't really speak about it.

Shield's too easy to destroy, reduce recharge delay on suits down to 2 seconds delay and 3 depleted delay, increase base shield on caldari from 274 (I think it was) to 320 (when you skill into shield it'll be 400 shield, allowing better shield tanking when mods are used), change the shield recharge rate from 30 to 50 (before anyone goes, "OH THATS OP SO NO", given how many counter measures there are to shield's, scrambler rifles doing over 200+ dmg and flux grenades having such long range and high shield related damage from warbarges, it would be perfectly balanced).
Why hasn't ccp tried to fix it? CCP doesn't do anything, the dev's do, its their game, the game has their companies name on it, and every dev so far has favored armor over shield.
Caldari using armor modules and all high slot damage mods, has proven overly effective, playing the way the dev's made this game to be.

I feel knowledgeable enough to throw some input on scouts at any rate, as I don't pretend to know the balance between commandos.
On scouts, 1/5 of every player is currently a scout, of that % cal scouts are very rare, as most play gal or min scouts. The Cal scout is not as bad as the Ama scout, but there is still a sizable gap between cal and gal/min scout. Hoping this eventually gets fixed to bring the cal and ama up to line with the other scouts. With scouts, low slots are major and since ewar is broken dampening is all that matters, thus is why gal scouts do it better at the moment. Min scout does have a very specific role which others can't touch. Movement options also helps a lot with shotgunning, which the min does the cheapest with its stam regen.
If you are looking to run cal scout for an assaulting role, you'll might have more luck trying this on a gal scout but if you intending to stick with the caldari line, sticking with extreme ranges is your best bet, shotgunning has a very low skill floor at the moment, obviously if you are actually good at the game you can use whatever weapon you want.
I don't know how the calmando stacks up with the other commandos, but for scouts its Gal>Min>Cal>Ama. Obviously anything is workable.

One battle I had today my proto cal ass got wrecked about 7 times by the apex amarr assault suit, it was speed tanked though I could hardly run away to replenish my shields as there were a lot of free ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all around me......

Linking your post back to the OP/TC, based on that logic, which caldari suit breaks that trend? The "fight at range or flank" trend.
The scout and current commando follow that trend, they either are flanking or out ranging. The assault follows that trend as you say, which then means its only the cal sentinel which breaks it, even then I'd say its sentinel niche leans towards forging.
A rather hard litmus test to measure the cal assault by when its clearly the way caldari as a whole was designed by CCP. If you are looking for a stand and deliver Rambo caldari, you'd have more luck with another racial line, in which case the op is limiting himself to the caldari suits, so the fault listed in the assault is not unique to that suit alone when its simply the trait CCP is currently applying/limiting the Caldari line with.

I'm not sure who's words were those, but they were not mine.
The whole point was to show that the issue is universal to caldari and not just the caldari assault, which is significant when the whole basis of the thread is looking for a solid assault role while sticking with the caldari line. Meaning the core issue is relating to a wider mechanic than just a single suit.
Rather important to recognize the core elements in play when making calls for fixing. Part of the issue has to do with a lack of heavy vs light shields while armor gets heavy and light variations for more adaptability. Part of the issue has to due to many of the anti shield weapons still that shred armor. Part of the issue is assaults could use another stat like regen or whatever else the community can think of. And of course trying to balance racial themes while keeping role effectiveness is part of the balancing act.

And why not? Even though assaults are getting nerfed speed, regen is poor, delay is illogical, and yet caldari shouldn't be as good as armor? When it has the most draw backs in the game, AR, SCR, ION P, SCP, CR rips through shields, everything in this game is bane to shield, and we shouldn't have the HP to take it? even amarr can take 2-3 clips of the RR before dying with armor mods, if they strafe TTK shoots up majorly, gallente the same, its unfair, and it wouldn't be worth to run shield if shield couldn't tank or regen fast both.

Cal assault and logi is garbage. The other suits have at least some roles attached to them:
Commando= Sniper but can aswell be used with a swarm launcher and tripple damage mods Sentinel= Forgegunner but can be used with a HMG quite decent due to the laser/hybrid shield resistance it gets Scout= meh another annoying thing to put a shotgun on
In my opinion shield regulators dont have too much of a impact on the shield delay. And then there is the depleted shields bug on the Sentinel where when you take 1 HP of armor damage you have to wait 4 seconds for your shields to recharge instead of 1 as its supposed to be. There is aswell no way to increase your DPS without sacrificing shields which is bad. And then there is aswell the fact that precision enhancers work 10 times better then a range amplifier.
Overall there is not much going for shield suits. And since skirmish/dom requires you to go CQC you can imagine that you get shredded to pieces by assault rifles and scramblers. Whenever i see a Cal assault/logi i think about it how easy im going to kill him.

This was done with a mix of google calculator and protofits.com to properly tie in the best shield related buff/armor nerf possible. It's simple, crude, and easy.
And it should be easy to tell why you want 3 delay and 5 depleted, its perfect. Recharge I tried fiddling with but couldn't find middle ground, coming to the conclusion that shield recharge mods are in a very good and perfect place (in that I couldn't figure out how with 2 complex shield mods I get 66, and not 61 or 69). energizers would really fit well with this since you'll be clocking over 600+ shield with shield related mods (provided you get the same number there as you do with a calculator, essentially my thought process goes, if you can't find the middle man, it's in a good area, but if you can, it can be buffed).

The problem with Caldari is their preferred tank loses more than it gains. Shields have no team support options like armor has triage hives and rep tools. Shields have less health, and their Regan is stoppable. This is the problem. Armor has multiple things going for it, while shields has only one, and that one advantage can be negated by any weapon at any range.
1. Shield damage threshold. We know it can be done because vehicles have it. 2. Lower depleted delays. If the regen is going to be stoppable, that downtime shouldn't be longer than 4 seconds on the outside. 3. Shields need some form of team support. A suggestion made once was to have a sort of reverse flux made, that heals all shields in a radius around the user. But some form of support.
These changes are needed to make shields, and by extension Caldari, a viable choice on the field. It's telling that the most successful Caldari builds have equal or more armor than shields on a suit that's supposed to be a dedicated shield tanker.

Haven't used cal ass lately.
But i can surely say that it can't perform as well as other assaults because their playstyle, as some claim, is focused on long range. Guess what, everything that's happening around is alwyas close to medium range.
Overall, there's not many situations where Calass would be better than any other assault.
Sentinel is a good forge gunner and soloer.
Logi is crappy. Bonus to hives doesn't give much compared to what others have.
Commando, guess it's good but slow.
Scout. Scout is the only suit from Caldari collection that performs as well as other scouts. Nothing to change here.

Whatever a caldari can do a minmatar can do better. I feel the caldari could do with a little more speed, since we aren't lugging around all that armor we should be pretty fast. Not minmatar fast because that's their thing, and shields are caldaris thing but shields need speed and regen and you can't have both.

It'd essentially give us more hp as the recharge would start at 50 instead of losing 1-2 extenders to get the 50 recharge..and the delay is what 3 seconds on cal scout? A cal suit that has to wait 3-4 seconds before recharging is useless..
My proposal all caldari suits at proto come with 50 recharge and 3 delay

MAN, I can just read the condescending word's all day, but really, it shouldn't matter if this says "fix this entire race" it lead's to the point that was given, countless forum's about thing's that not only this game require's, but also what is needed to make it more playable for more than just 1 specific ethnic (armor), and let's not forget how many rooks left and quit because they chose caldari? I'm more than just getting sick of "shield's so better much better than armor" yet it's not what the pro corp's use in PC, it's amarr, gallente, and minmatar suits, never caldari, and if you see a caldari in PC, it's because he skilled into it prior and is either (like me) too stubborn to skill out of it and use another suit or too poor to get a respec to skill out of it.
Oh and being constructive, actually mean's putting in your thought's on how to properly "fix" the caldari, so as to be more viable in combat. Which you are not.

Yeah Basic to Proto diversity needs to be decreased in my opinion, just make it a standard across all suit's including militia (cause civies need some protection too, role playing wise anyway). However I might also disagree with 50 all across the board, with 3 delay and 5 depleted, you can recharge extremely fast, and wait 1 second when depleted (with proto mods anyway, and if you apply shield related recharge mods, for 0.3-0.1 seconds your getting 66 hp, with a damage threshold (which wouldn't be necessary with the delays and depleteds) you'd more than be viable until a flux or scram, or ar shot hits you.

Caldari Assault is outclassed by all the other assaults, its too slow, its regen takes too long to kick in, its health is too low, its stamina regen is trash, and its damage output is gimped due to the weapons it favors and its high slots being needed for tank, and its too helpless in close combat if you try to take advantage of the cal ass weapon bonuses and use a rail rifle of any kind. That said if armor meta gets broken and shields become viable again, and the rail rifles get reworked a bit to not be suicide rifles, the suit might be ok.
Caldari Commando is a joke of a suit and needs a complete rework to be anything but a sniper platform (in other words it sucks so bad taking it out of the redline is a terrible mistake).
Cal Logi is only marginally better than the Cal Commando.
Cal Sentinel seems ok, but fitting it is a mess if you try and use shield regen modules aside from the regulator (not enough CPU to accommodate comparable fittings to same level armor tank fittings on amarr/gallente sentinels).
Cal Scout is fine.

That I agree with, I would love to rock 800+ shield's on an cal assault maybe even more, maybe add a natural shield related bonus to cal suits, of course if that's the case, then i'd see a 50+ natural recharge rate across the board (maybe make it so that different suit sizes get more or less recharge speed from recharge related modules).

Which is what we're trying to think up of, but still - OH maybe make it so that the BASIC suit skills give bonus' and are linked to whatever other thing that come's after that, like Caldari basic skill: 6% per level to all shield related modules and 3 damage threshold per level (comes up to 15 for those who aren't thinking, so that people using assault smg doesn't get anal on the idea, maybe make it 4 since most players have the common sense to use damage mods).

We're the only race that shield tank. All the others rely mostly on armor. Technically the Min do half and half. Don't you know anything?

Ever been up against 2-3 more people and NOT 1 on 1 match that rarely happen's? See how long your HMG last's then.. Or a better example, an amarr armor tanking with a min logi vs a caldari sentinnel with 3 damage mods?

This game didn't used to be so much of getting shot in the back either. It used to be a lot more you fighting 1-4 people in front of you, which was a lot more do-able. Regardless only the Caldari are suffering, only the Caldari have shield based suits, and rarely use their armor. I think with the type b we had more armor, but they took that **** away from us anyways

I dont want to apply the bonus to every suit, I want shields fixed in general.
Min Assault is supposed to be a passable shield tank suit as well, just slapping a bonus on all the caldari isnt going to fix the problem. |

What about this -> As the Min Assault is a passable shield tank suit, why not bring up the Cal Assault to 4/5 speed of a Min Assault, in addition to the fixed shields, as Cal don't really have the choise to use regular armor plates and therefore should be faster anyway?...
Why as racial bonus? Obviously because shield tankers should have most advantages out of it! Otherwise it would buff all races, that would keep the gap wide open and wouldn't provide a competitive position for those who fit only shields...

Still a damage threshold of 20 or greater (20 if we stay long range, but maybe should be based off of a % in efficiency as another thread was going on about, maybe a mix of both, wouldn't hurt, since most people use damage mods and what not, it wouldn't be much of a problem if we had something like that, y'know?).
