Hello,
During the past few months, IGÇÖve been noticing something shocking and deeply offensive to me and my kind.
As all of you could guess from my name, IGÇÖm part of the Felis Catus species, of the genus Felinae, a carnivorous mammal. My species has an attraction to small, bright and fast moving objects, as they remind us of our natural prey - Mice, of the rodent order.
To us, chasing such objects is nearly irresistible, a reflex if you will, and is analogous to a human reflexively removing its hand from a hot object upon touching it.
Crowd Control Productions (CCP) have created a weapon that exploits this biological fact. The Amarr Empire Laser Rifle, also known as the Viziam Laser Rifle, creates an incredibly bright and fast moving beam. This beam activates our predatorial instincts and forces us to chase it, exposing ourselves to the enemy and getting cut down by a powerful and intense beam of heat.
I believe this to be an intentionally speciest design decision on the part of CCP.
ItGÇÖs not enough that CCP designed DUST 514 with opposable thumbs in mind, not taking into account pretty much every other species on the planet aside from humans. No, they had to further spit in our face by creating the Laser Rifle, a weapon clearly designed to make the game unplayable for members of my species.
Is this the early 20th Century? Did we not have civil rights movement's fight against such repulsive ideas?
And as if that wasnGÇÖt enough, there are members of this community who with a smile on their faces melt thousands of innocent cats!
I have filed a complaint for Feline Rights violation to the International Court of Justice in Hague, and demanded the execution of these terrible offenders:
Viktor Hadah Jr. - By far the worst offender, responsible for thousands of helpless felines being slaughtered.
HC RSOL - Second worst offender, was spotted toying with us by moving the beam across the battlefield, attracting any members of my species. After which he would point it directly at us in a cruel fashion.
Mortedeamor - Being killed by a woman is deeply offensive to my masculinity. Doubly so by such a humiliating way. She recieved the proper amount of spikey feline dick pics in retaliation.
Breakin Stuff and Ripley Riley - For pointing a Laser Rifle with a low power level at a water cooler, forcing me to ram it with high force, and then turning up the power on the Laser to incinerate me. Making me die both soaking wet and on fire.
I hope this plea will call you fine gentlemen of the DUST 514 forums to action, and let CCP know that this is unacceptable.
Maybe with time CCP will change this appalling behavior, and DUST 514 will be enjoyable by every species on the planet.
Except for dogs, we donGÇÖt want them here.

Seriously? The most under-powered weapon in the game except in extreme circumstances and you want it nerfed? Like, holy christ when will the complaining ever end. The Laser Rifle is a skill-shot weapon that's had more time being under-powered than any other weapon save for the Plasma Cannon. If anything it should be -BUFFED- to compensate for the fact that its delicate range is hard to manage around and it doesn't seem to benefit that much from Aim Assist, making it even harder to use.
This isn't even touching on the fact that it's overheat damage used to be so insane that a Prototype Laser Rifle could one-shot a scout that was using it just by feedback damage alone. Seize time is another factor, and then you have the limited magazine capacity which is just brutal due to the high likeliness of a miss.
Then there's the fact that aren't any variants and because of that the Laser Rifle is stupidly constrained to a single variant with little to no mercy in getting used to it. I mean, honestly, how many new players actually use the laser rifle? Do you know of any? Because I don't. In fact the only couple of people I even see using it are the ones you mentioned and maybe Kane Spero but he's a total scrub.
OH AND THE MOST HILARIOUS PART IS THAT IT'S NOT ON THE SALVAGE LISTS, SO YOU CAN GET EVEN GET IT IN THE EOM SCREEN.

Oh well, my proposal is this: Observe the fact that you suck, Deal with it, because what i'm about to say next is going to blow your mind: The cat nip laser rifle. Hits automatically puts out an aroma of cat nip. Right, you following? Even have a splash radius of 2.5m with splash damage equal to 75% of it's direct damage. All of that might actually make it a balanced weapon. Don't even think about saying otherwise.

As someone who has 13 cats both inside and outside my house i completely agree, I can not and will not live with this. I recently started thinking about becoming a cat Via experimental treatment known as "Maniuscatius" It has worked flawlessly on the 23 Monkeys they have tested it on and are now beginning test's on humans, So far they have said "It has worked on humans with only minimum un-living" CCP Needs to fix this NOW!

I skilled into the Viziam Laser Rifle recently. I can report that it is indeed OP AF. I've gotten kills with it at near 150M. Once it gets going, it does extreme damage. I've killed Caldari Sentinels with it in under 2 seconds. Armour-tanked suits aren't even much of a problem either. It's also usable in CQC. The trick is to warm it up behind cover, then pretend you're burning ants with a magnifying glass. The magazine capacity isn't a problem because I always carry Nanohives, of which you get, what, 6? You'll never run out of ammo. And just like the SCR, the overheat is easy to manage. The only reason why you don't see many is that it's highly specialised, and it works best on open maps, or when you're roof-camping.

All of that might actually make it a balanced weapon. Don't even think about saying otherwise.

I skilled into the Viziam Laser Rifle recently. I can report that it is indeed OP AF. I've gotten kills with it at near 150M. Once it gets going, it does extreme damage. I've killed Caldari Sentinels with it in under 2 seconds. Armour-tanked suits aren't even much of a problem either. It's also usable in CQC. The trick is to warm it up behind cover, then pretend you're burning ants with a magnifying glass. The magazine capacity isn't a problem because I always carry Nanohives, of which you get, what, 6? You'll never run out of ammo. And just like the SCR, the overheat is easy to manage. The only reason why you don't see many is that it's highly specialised, and it works best on open maps, or when you're roof-camping.
