Yeah, I definitely like the Scrambler Rifle. High damage and accurate, just gotta worry about overheating for the most part.
Hopefully there's some support Logis that have two weapon slots so I can run a shotgun alongside a scrambler when I reach that point. |

I'm assuming this is normal for Dust 514, and that the game takes some settling into and has a learning curve to it. I got my ass kicked quite a bit when I started playing TF2.
But I've learned a few things starting out.
-Don't go alone. Spawn somewhere that has teammates nearby and STAY WITH THEM. Roaming solo is just asking to be killed.
-Don't engage 1v1. I'm not sure how big of a difference the higher gear makes, but with my starter gear I feel like I have absolutely ZERO CHANCE of surviving direct confrontation, so it's better to stay back and support teammates, and scrounge whatever WP you can.
-Since I'm so bad at direct fights (possibly only because of starter gear and I'm not willing to spending ISK on better gear until I know I'm skilled enough to not lose money every match because of redeployment), I stopped trying to engage enemies and instead took up a support role, healing and reviving downed teammates with the Repair Tool and Nanite Injector whenever possible. In doing this I actually started being a lot more productive to my team, keeping important players alive, using fewer of my teams precious clones because of fewer deaths, and getting more WP through Triage/Revivals as a bonus.
Because of this, I'm thinking I may want to focus on a support role in the future, healing and watching out for my teammates instead of trying to actually get kills and contribute DPS. So I think, when my funds and my skill permit it, I'm going to try running Logitechs and focus on Rep/Nanite/Hives. Hopefully this doesn't make me too high of a priority for enemy target selection, I'd think they'd be focused on the guys shooting at them rather than the one guy whose just healing people.
Anyway, yeah, the first few hours have been absolutely brutal so far, and I don't expect it to get smoother anytime soon. It feels like getting started in this game is kinda like a crucible of fire sort of thing, and I just have to tough it out until I get more skill and better loot.
But I'm enjoying it, nonetheless. I got my ass kicked at Dark Souls when I first started playing it, and I'm a beast at it now and still love playing it. So it's my hope that if I just stick with this game and ride out the frustration, I'll get better at it and the game will get more fun. IDK how well you're going to fit in here, you're being logical lol Yeah Dust doesn't have a learning 'curve' so much as a cliff, chances are right now 1v1 you'll just get your ass handed to you but if you enjoy running logi all the power to you, a good logi is a major asset. feel free to shoot me a mssg in game if you wanna squad up, it's nice to get new blood in the game. My new blood is painting the dirt as I speak. When should I start spending ISK on militia gear? I don't want to start spending 10k per deployment until I know I can break even on the K/D ratio or at least not lose money every match.
I would recommend going to the squad finder and when you get into a squad where you actually see a blue circle or indicators telling you where to go hit select and enter the squad section. Hit "X" with the squad selected and be sure to activate squad chat even if you don't have a mic. Then tell the squad you are new and would appreciate some help. If the squad leader is indicating where to go he should be willing to tell you how to improve. I will be on this week end so if you see my name in squad finder, jump in. Also ask for a channel or two for general squading. People need to start sharing those again. The squad finder would help the noobs but so many vets won't squad with people they don't know. I love showing new guys the ropes. They think you are a god when you really just know how to put bullets down field.
(Gê¬n+Ç-´)GèâGöüGÿån+ƒ.pâ+n+ín+ƒ. LASERS BTCH!!!!!!
With the team chat gone, we need to really start leveraging the squad finder!

Sorry to disappoint you, unless you talk about the Scrambler Pistol (Sidearm). Both Shotgun and Scrambler Rifles are Light weapons, and only Commandos can carry two of those.
Currently only one Logi have a Light and a Sidearm slot (Amarr), and the rest only have one Light slot (no Sidearm). You might also want to wait with specing into a specific Logi too deep as there are "things" happening with the entire class, so what I just stated might not be correct in the future.
Personally I like to run a fast Scout Suite (which has two equipment slots) and drop uplinks and hack points beyond enemy lines. They are paper thin, but if you get the jump on somebody you can take out a seasoned player with a Milita Shotgun easily (point blank to the head).
There is also talk about Basic Frames (not Assault or Logi) will have two equipment slots in the future, but who knows? |

It means they don't believe you are a new player, but rather an Veteran who created another new character (of the three you have available = Alts). True or not, there are good people here who just want to help.
That being said, there are ALSO a lot of scammers and trolls which would just love to rip you off and leave you in the dirt, so I don't blame them for being cautious. Don't trust anybody blindly in New Eden!

Focus your skills on cores and try to find a weapon you like and get it leveled up. I advise you join DUST University or Immortal Guides. They are the only corps worth a damn at your level. I WANT to master a shotgun, but from what I've seen so far, the maps are just too damn big and open to play well to any sort of close-range weaponry. I could only use one effectively if I was camping an objective, at least until I learn how to go Vanguard on everything like in Mass Effect 2-3. But so far, the Scrambler Rifle looks pretty good, reminds me of the Covenant Carbine in Halo 2. I have to make a choice I guess though, because from what I hear, Logi's only have ONE weapon slot. I'll check out the two corps you recommended.
The Amarr Logi has 2 weapon slots. The kind of Logi you pick is situational. Amarr has buff to Uplinks (Spawn Points) Caldari has buff to Nanohives (Ammo) Minmatar has buff to Repair tool (Healing) and Gallente has buff to Scans (Let's the enemy never hide). :3 You just have to choose which situation suits you best.

It's tough, but with that mindset you will flourish in this game What you listed are not starter tips, but some of the cardinal rules of Dust that even Vets follow. Edit: If you want to know the intricate details of Dust you could join Dust University. Do not join Dust University lol or Duna Corp. Join a squad in squad finder, and if you like that person, join the corp, but make sure it is active and has at least 7 people.
I agree with this person. Also if your looking for a corp you can check the corp Recruitment section on the forums.

If you're a solo player, I highly recommend becoming a scout as soon as you feel comfortable with all the maps. Scouting is all about hacking stuff before anyone knows what's going on, as well as killing stragglers. Very viable play style, but you need to know the maps like the back of your hand, as well as the 3 common travel routes- where vehicles tend to go, where frontliners tend to go, and where scouts tend to go. It took me a few months to get it down, but there were only 3 maps to learn back then.
Just know that if you don't have a squad to run with, being a support player can be extremely frustrating. You're bound to your teammates, and if they're idiots, which they often are, you're doomed.
I know right? Back before the Hotfix that broke Scotty I would get matches where I was the only Logi on the team and on top of that the team was full of idiots. .-. They would just stand and stare into a wall for 5.2 seconds then turn around to run from the enemy.

Enjoy your first few months, because the game will change for you rapidly, and then it's never the same again... Before you know it, you'll be greeting new players and warning them of their terrible fate, just as I am now...

This fit was standard, and not built for killing, yet I was killing reds fairly easy with it, while picking up my teammates' ******** asses.
In codex, logis really had it hard, because the build before had a WP exploit involving the original rep tool WP system. Rep tools didn't give WP until CCP figured out a better system, but a few of us were dedicated enough to still use them.

I'm not dying quite as often, and that can only be a good thing for my team. I'm gonna apply to DUST University so I can get some pointers from more experienced players. I've saved up almost 2 million ISK. I might start buying some basic militia gear soon, at least some scrambler rifles. I can get kills with the Starter Medic's rifle if I have an opportunity, but it's usually bad if the target returns fire. In the meantime, I'll save my SP now for Shield/Armor and Nanohives. DON'T JOIN THEM. They are not that experienced, and they are not vets. A good corp to join for tips and help (if they are still around and active) would be BurgezzE.T.F. I don't see many folks from Burgezz in game these days. I think they have a pub chat going though. They helped me out quite a bit too. Good group of people there.

Go logi my brother no need to always kill the red dots just heal the blue berries and get war points
