I believe the bolt pistol's magnetism is the exact same as the breach scrambler pistol's magnetism.
Flaylock is Aoe, and the Ion can rapid fire.
I'm all about sidearm balance, as I really love running sidearm only fits, I'd honestly wish there were sidearm suits specialized in dust.
The bolt pistol is the number 2 sidearm but the gap between number 2 and number 1 is massive (BrSMG). Attacking the bolt pistol before the SMG seems to display alternative motives rather than balance because the first thing that comes to mind when I think of sidearm parity is equalizing the smg to the other sidearms.
That doesn't mean that sidearm parity wouldn't nerf the bolt pistol in a particular manner, but clearly not looking at the biggest offender in sidearm imbalance is suspect.

Not sure why the bolt pistol is so rage inducing for people, but I think its fine myself, and the crappy sidearms (scrambler pistol/ion pistol/magsec) should be brought up to the SMG/flaylock/bolt pistol/nove knife level, not the other way around.
Kind of my line of thought, I honestly want all the sidearms to be competitive, including the Ion and magsec (the two weakest). I don't pretend to not be sidearm biased, I want to see them fielded more often and for more combinations of duel sidearm fits to be viable.

Imp Smash wrote:Amazing sidearm thanks to aim assist. Almost always lands its shot in hipfire. Stops shotgun scouts all day. Almost never lands its shot (strafing +hit detection) when ADS, therefore without aim assist easily a terrible sidearm.
Still weaker than the SMG line. Should fix THOSE first...
Using magsec/BrScP now, but it seems like I need to try this hipfire more, as I always use ADS, a habit I picked up when the BP first came out. I don't find the ADS with the bolt terrible that bad though.
Also just to explain my position biases, I ran nothing buts scouts since closed beta, so all of my approaches involve flanking, which means the target isn't dancing or actively fighting back, which is why I ADS most of my shots.

Still weaker than the SMG line. Should fix THOSE first... Theres nothing wrong with the SMG... what is the deal with you guys who think all the sidearms should be ****? Or do you think the SMG is better than any of the rifles or something? The SMG is still king of the sidearms.
Precisely, after all the other hot topics get covered, sidearm balancing will be needed. Hopefully bringing it up to the level of the SMG rather than bring everything down, which is why I don't endorse the OP just yet because the aim of it is misguided (pun intended).
The biggest challenges will be the Ion and Magsec due to comparative light weapons that compete within its range and function. The SMG became king because it has a unique function and range which doesn't step any any light weapon to warrant a complaint. Ion has to be careful of not offending shotgunners, and magsecs have to be careful in not offending the battle rifles. For these I think the mechanism need to be made more extreme to allow dominance in the role its given.
but that discussion is for another thread

For the record though, I take no issues with reducing hipfire magnetism of the bolt pistol. Its not needed to be what it is. ADS is there for a reason and the bolt should be built for ADSing.
That being said, greater sidearm parity is still needed.
